Chapter 10 - Company

The sun filtered through the window directly into Silvia's eyes and she groaned stretching. It was nice to sleep in for a change. She never felt so rested before. She padded her way to the kitchen to make bacon and eggs. There was a knock on her door. Her friend, Ashley, stood holding a duffle bag over her shoulder. She squealed as soon as she saw Silvia. "Is it Wednesday already?" Silvia asked. "It's tomorrow but I couldn't wait. I took the first flight over. Why didn't you tell me your neighbors were so hot and friendly?" She giggled. Silvia looked past her shoulder to see Emmett leaning against his truck. He waved with a smirk and then crossed his arms. "You hitchhiked!" Silvia shrieked but Ashley rolled her eyes. "He said he knew you and lived nearby..." Ashley shrugged, "Honestly, I didn't care where he took me." Silvia looked at her friend gob smacked. "He could've bent me over that truck of his." Ashley crooned and then winked back at Emmett. He raised an eyebrow in response. "Just get in here!" Silvia shrieked pulling her friend inside and slamming the door behind her. "Silvi! Don't be a prude!" Ashley laughed. "Emmett is trouble Ash!" Silvia whispered. Ashley clicked her tongue with a lustful look. "Not the good kind Ash!" She snapped. Ashley shrugged her shoulder in response. "Girl! I'm just glad to see you!" Ashley beamed tossing her bag down and going in for a hug. Silvia let out a sigh and then sniffed. "Whatever you're cooking is well done..." Ashley commented. "Shit!" Silvia ran to the kitchen to turn off her food. It then went directly into the trash. "By the way, it's no problem for me to sleep on the couch..." Ashley commented as Silvia shook her head. "Right...how long are you staying?" Silvia asked. "Don't know...a few days..." She said with a sigh. "Stay however long you like..." Silvia sighed back. "You know I will..." Ashley giggled plopping onto the couch. The girls talked all the way into the evening but Silvia was careful about what she said. She didn't know if knowing less would put Ashley in danger or not but she also knew her friend wouldn't believe her if she tried. She almost wished she hadn't come out to see her. Having to lie to her was one of the hardest things she had done. "That poor girl! That happened on your first night here?" Ashley asked with her eyes huge. "Yep..." Silvia shrugged. "I would've ran straight back home!" She replied while popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth. "What did you talk about with Emmett?" Silvia tried to asked casually. "I ran into him in town and we mostly just flirted...but as soon as I said I was looking for you his eyes lit up." Ashley giggled. "You told him my name?" Silvia asked and Ashley squinted. "No!" She then gasped, "Yes! I said Silvia Clark... Maybe, I talked too much. Silvi, I'm so sorry if I messed up." Silvia sighed, "You know what? It's fine... It's not like you told him I inherited the place right?" Ashley's eyes went huge as she choked. "Right Ash?" Silvia repeated and Ashley grimaced, "I might of mentioned it..."
