Chapter 15 - Almost

There was some silence as they stomped back to the cabin until Silvia couldn't take it any longer."What does she mean?" She gasped. Everest was shaking with anger, "It's a witch's trick! I don't know what she's playing at! I remembered her being nicer!" "What could she want from me?" Silvia shrieked. Then they both stood in silence as a woman held Ashley by the neck outside the cabin door. "You think I'll let you cost me my son!" The woman yelled. Ashley's face was turning red. Their eyes grew wide and Silvia felt her breath catch in her chest. She grabbed the knife and unwrapped it. "No, that will kill her!" Everest yelled. The woman snapped her attention to them on the edge of the woods as Silvia looked confused at Everest. The woman dropped Ashley and shifted into a white wolf with silver eyes. Her gaze held her frozen in place as a cold feeling wrapped around her heart. Silvia screamed as the wolf charged at them. "Run!" Everest yelled as he shifted and bolted towards the larger wolf. Silvia ran back into the woods. She went as fast as her legs would carry her until she fell on a tree root. Her ankle was twisted and she cried in pain... She was then scooped off the forest floor by strong arms. They grabbed the knife with the shirt she had and held her close. She was being held against a bare chest and they were breathing hard. "Take that potion! You have to pay for it wether you use it or not!" Her rescuer said in a deep voice that rumbled through Silvia's body. She shakily took it from her pocket and took a tiny sip. It tasted like berries but burnt her throat going down. "It covered your scent well." He commented and Silvia couldn't understand why she wanted to snuggle closer to him. He was warm and smelt good but she couldn't place what it was. He chuckled, "Squeeze me tighter and I won't be able to move." His heart was beating hard but it was a soothing sound and Silvia felt herself going to sleep. The sun gleamed into her eyes waking Silvia from her slumber. She dreamed of meadows with butterflies and babbling brooks. There were rows of branches covered in moss above her and soft furs covering her body. She felt slight panic remembering what had happened as she sat up. "Good morning, sleeping beauty." He chuckled while knelt by a fire. He was wearing the plaid shirt and a pair of jeans. His feet were bare though as he stood. He was tall and muscular but Silvia didn't recognize him. He smiled and Silvia felt her heart jump into her throat as his silver eyes shined. "You don't have to say anything..." He whispered as he knelt down in front of her holding a plate of scrambled eggs. "Where did these come from?" She breathed and he practically purred as his eyes darkened, "The woods.." He trailed his hand along the side of her face stopping with his thumb on her bottom lip. His touch left tingles on her skin. "Enjoy.." He said placing the plate in her lap and abruptly standing up to leave. "Don't go..." She sputtered. "I'm not going far... I have to make sure we're still safe." He chuckled once more before kneeling back down and placing a soft kiss on Silvia's forehead. She felt a blush creeping out to her ears. "You're adorable." He whispered as he once again backed away. "What's your name?" She rushed. He ducked his head sideways to look at her. "Kronos..." He smirked and then walked away.
