Chapter 13 - Finding a Bunny

"You should bring a weapon! Did you find Ryder's gun?" Everest asked. Silvia sighed, "The only thing I found was a weird knife." Everest's eyes glowed, "Bring it then...I have my fangs but if we come across anything you might be on your own." Silvia rubbed her eyes. "Is this all really necessary? I'm talking about flying us miles away...how could they find us?" She said wearily. Everest laughed, "Oh, they'd find us." "Fine!" She snapped going to the closet and pulling down the box. Everest's eyes grew wide once he saw it. "I've never seen that before... It's silver too..." He awed. The knife had a twisted blade and the handle was wrapped in golden leaves with some gemstones. It might be worth something if she were to ever pawn it. The pictures scattered across the bed but one caught Everest's eye. "You have a picture of Bunny!" He exclaimed. "What?" She asked as he picked up the picture of the dark haired woman with Ryder, "I thought that was your mom..." "Nope! That's Bunny!" He laughed, "My mom has silver eyes and white hair..." Silvia gasped, "Silver eyes?" Everest just nodded as he stuffed the picture into his pocket. The silver eyes that have been watching her in the dark came to her mind and she shivered. She took the knife wrapping it in one of the flannel shirts. They left Ashley at the house as they headed towards the woods. Lying was becoming easier as she said they had to get Everest's things. She also could have the bed because they weren't going to be back for a while. That seemed to make Ashley quite happy.

Crickets echoed as they went into the darkness. Silvia turned on a flashlight. Everest groaned, "You need to turn that off!" Silvia placed her hand on her hip huffing, "How am I supposed to see?" "Just keep the light to the ground. Stay quiet! I'll go ahead...We don't want to startle her!" He said shaking his head. Silvia sighed, "Maybe this was a bad idea then." Everest growled, "It's our best shot!" He took off and Silvia could no longer see him. There were hundreds of fireflies traveling along the trees. It was actually quite peaceful in the woods until Silvia heard a wolf's howl. She clicked off her flashlight and looked around in the night. Cold chills ran up her spine as she saw the silver eyes behind her. They then disappeared and she heard twigs snap. "Red's my favorite color..." a deep voice spoke. Silvia's chills turned into goosebumps as her heart raced. How could he see her red sweater? "This might sound odd but you smell devine!" His voice rumbled. It was like sweet music to her ears that seemed to draw her in. "Who...who...are you?" She stuttered. He chuckled, "You'll find out soon enough...Not now though." All she could see was his silver eyes looking like the moon and her voice hitched, "Why...why not?" She couldn't see him any longer and she didn't get an answer. Her throat went dry as she continued looking around. Her heart raced and she screamed when Everest popped up beside her. "I found Bunny! Her burrow is just up ahead!" He said cheerfully.
