Silvia decided to look for the rifle. Everest had said it was in the closet but she didn't see anything aside from a box. It was either some place else or not here at all. As she pulled the box out she noticed a picture stuck to the bottom. It was a picture of her mom and she was being kissed on the cheek by who had to be Ryder. He was wearing a plaid flannel over a long sleeved shirt. Both were pulled up on his forearms. He was a big guy but looked innocent and happy like a kid on Christmas day. Her mom looked happy too. She couldn't help but wonder what had happened and stared at his face for awhile. She had never seen him before but his face seemed familiar. She looked enough like him to see the resemblance. Would others too? She sat the picture on the bed as she opened the box. There were a couple flannel shirts, that could swallow her easily, and more pictures. These were of the wildlife and some baby pictures of Everest. She knew now that the puppy was him. Then there was one of Ryder and another woman. Her hand was partially covering her face but Silvia could see one of her green eyes and her beautiful black hair. Silvia continued digging in the box and her fingers grazed a knife on the bottom. It stung. She was sure she had cut herself yet there wasn't any blood. She threw the stuff back in the box and went to the living room. The light wouldn't turn on so, she looked around for a spare light bulb with no luck. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to go into town today?
It was a long drive and Silvia checked her messages. She needed to call her mom back. Then she heard Ashley's voice, "Hey Girl! Just letting you know I'll be coming out early. I got canned! Not that I'm surprised, Richard is a Dick after all! I'll see you Wednesday! Ciao Beautiful!" That would be a lot sooner but it would be nice to be around another "human". Silvia laughed as she pulled into town. It was another reason she wanted to go out. She started thinking...How did she know they were humans? As she walked around the hardware store and put some cleaning supplies in her cart she began to feel paranoid. Was she being watched? She was looking over her shoulder when she bumped into a brick wall of a man. "Be careful Ms. Clark..."said a deep voice and she froze. His green eyes met hers with a devious smile. He was holding her arm and she began to tremble. "So sorry... Emmett was it?"she said and his mouth quirked. His eyes traveled the length of her body and she tried to pull her arm away from his grip. There was a growl behind him and he released her. He turned to face his brother and she took that moment to slip away. Her heart was racing as she waited impatiently to check out. Checking ever so often to see if they were behind her. When she couldn't see them her heart pounded even harder. She felt stupid because she probably brought attention to herself. Why couldn't she just act normal? Because werewolves are real and there are at least two here right now. She smiled at the clerk and quickly left the store. She saw their red truck in the parking lot as she drove away but it didn't seem like they were coming after her. The rest of the day went by in a blur but the paranoid feeling wouldn't go away. She locked her doors as the sun set occasionally peering out the windows but not seeing anything.
