Verum and his troops waited at their new allies castle for a bit, and learned that it was called the 'Rikkoutumaton'.
They stayed only for an hour or so, before Verum told Vesi that he had come here for another purpose as well, not just the alliance.
"And what would that be?" She asked.
"We are going to go and destroy the wolves den, you remember the wolves I had on me the last time I came here right?"
"Ahh, I understand what you mean, do you need any help?"
"No I don't think we will, but you and your men can tag along if you want to. I won't mind."
"Hmm, Sure, we will do just that."
"Alright then, we will set off in a few moments, if you need to do any preparations, better get to doing them now."
After some time, they set out.
They had a pretty quiet journey, Verum was not a man who liked to indulge in idle chatter, and Vesi did not have enough confidence to strike up a conversation with anyone but her own men, who were also keeping quiet while observing Verum's Scientia warriors.
"What are your soldiers called?" Verum asked, and Vesi seemed to get startled by this abrupt question.
"Huh?"
"Your unit, what is it called?"
"My unit? They're called the 'Swashbuckler'. Why do you ask?" She inquired.
"Just curious, that's all."
'Swashbuckler, huh? Skilled in swords, shields, and bows, usually depicted as heroic.'
When Verum ascertained that they were close to the den, he motioned everyone to gather around.
"Alright, the den is not too far from here, so we need to be careful, if a wolf spots you, try to kill it immediately without making too much noise, or else it will alert the whole den, and we don't want that. Keep low, and spread out a little bit, if there is a bigger one, leave it to me, if more than one appears, try to hold it down till I free myself, do not get isolated by them, wolves are strongest ganging up on something."
"Our cover will run out as soon as we begin the attack, and when it does, immediately try to cause as much damage to the wolves as you can, maximize it before they form up or get close, then try to keep them separate, if you can't do that, and feel like you are getting overwhelmed, try to group up, it will help somewhat, also keep an eye out for others in need of assistance, alright? Good, let's move."
Everyone heeded his words, and they slowly crept forward till they reached the edge of the clearing where Verum, at the front of the group, motioned to everyone to move, and then waited for them to get into their own positions, Vesi, on the other hand, was staying back with three of her own men surrounding her. Seeing this, Verum just nodded, he had seen what type of person she was, and she was not a front line fighter, but she was not someone who stayed back as well, she was more of a mid line healer, good for support, useless for everything else.
Verum crept forward, slowly, and all of his soldiers started to move as well, quickly followed by the swashbucklers, who kept a certain distance from Verum's men.
[You have entered, 'Wind Wolf Den'! Beware of the wolves!]
'They haven't noticed us yet, but it doesn't really matter now does it?' Verum thought, looking around the huge clearing. 'As soon one of these wolves die, all of them will be alerted, unless i have like a technique I can use to make them seem like they are still there.' His thoughts wandered a bit, to his eye power, to be specific, 'Path of the trickster', it had an illusion ability, but not powerful enough to trick all those in front of him.
He brought his attention back to the current situation, there was a wolf, only 17 meters away from him. The reason it had not noticed him was because it was looking the other way, and because he was using 'Sneak', in order to not alert it of his presence.
'Here. We. GO!' Mentally screamed Verum, as he shot forward and stabbed the wolf in it's neck, killing it in one hit, and all around him, quick bursts of movements started.
[The wolves have been alerted, beware!]
All of a sudden, all the wolves who were previously just wandering, or lying down, got up snarling, and started to rush towards the invaders who dared to intrude on their territory, wanting to tear them apart.
In the surprise attack, 27 wolves had been killed, it would have been higher if the wolves were not so sparsely distributed, it would have gone over 50, if they had been gathered in one place, and all those who were present knew that.
In the next moment, the sounds of battle began as blades started tearing into howling wolves, while the wolves tried to fight back, but were not very successful.
The swashbucklers used their shields to keep them at bay, and used their swords to land attacks, while it was true that they were not very powerful, their combat style, along with their capability, was quite solid for their levels, which were not exceeding level 20.
As for the situation with Verum's Scientia warriors, the wolves were having a very hard time.
(Random soldier's Flashback)
Arrows shooting towards me from every direction, threatening to skewer me, logs swinging in giant arcs, every time breaking my bones when getting hit, punches and kicks beating me up if I could not evade them. Running with weights till my muscles tear and bones creak. Training from before sunrise, till late after sunset. The only good thing, was that lord Verum trained with us as well.
Sniff, Lord Verum really is a hard trainer.

With the training they had gone through, it was no wonder that they could manage to evade all the attacks the wolves were throwing at them. It was a complete one sided massacre.
That was when two howls sounded out.
