Chapter 45 - Journal (Beastpedia and Grimoire)

Journal entry no: ??

I have bought two more books from the system, and as it turns out, you can actually specify the size and thickness you want! So I went ahead and bought two thick tomes. One to used as a beastpedia, and the other for putting in my observations and discoveries in magic.

Though in the beastpedia, I will not be putting in any common ordinary creatures, like the wolf or bear, instead, I will try to keep it on more dangerous creatures.

Entry end.

Beastpedia entry no: 1- Wind Wolf Danger level - B

Slightly larger than a normal wolf when fully grown, the wind wolves usually travel in groups of 3 to 9, and will not exceed that amount unless an Alpha or King wind wolf is present. These wolves utilize wind magic to attack, and by prolonged usage of it, have mastered the usage of wind to provide an increase in there speed passively. This skill is known as [Blessing of the wind].

They do not venture further than ten kilometers from there den, and are not picky about what meat they eat, although they avoid eating Starry deer whenever possible, and treat white-eyed sheep like they are plagued. The reason behind this behavior is unknown, their favorite food are the brains of the iron-horned goat.

They are not very aggressive towards other species of wolves, which is strange on it's own, but the other wolves tolerate them as well, which is a very weird thing.

The wolf's weak spot is the neck, specifically the spot bottom part of it, a heavy blow there will shatter it's spine, immediately killing it, the same goes for the Alpha and King wolves.

Beastpedia entry no: 2- Fire breathing Salamander Danger Level- C

The size of a full grown dog, the only dangerous thing about this creature is it's flame breath, and it's poisonous spit. It also possesses a high regeneration, which makes it slightly troublesome to deal with. It's blood is useful in making healing ointments, and it's skin can be used to make fire resistant armor, while it's poison sacs for making antidotes.

It's diet consists of meat, bugs, and occasionally fruits, it does not stay in one place, and is always moving around in search of food.

It's weak spot is it's eyes, one stab to kill it. Be warned, the creature may try to escape by shedding it's tail.

Beastpedia entry no: 3- Forest stag Danger Level- D

Unlike normal stags, this one has the ability to utilize magic, even if it only knows only one spell, to be precise, [Water Bomb]. Besides that, it seems that both male and females possess antlers, which are quite sturdy, as well as their main way of attack.

These creatures are relatively peaceful, and do not seem to be bothered by human presence, unless said person has the smell of blood on them.

Their main weakness are their knees, which are very brittle and break easily, breaking one reduces their speed by more than 60%, making them easy prey.

Beastpedia entry no: 4- Red-billed woodpecker Danger Level- C

With a height of 80 centimeters, and a wingspan of 110, the red-billed woodpecker is not very powerful, but can be quite dangerous if angered. It can use it's sturdy bill to unleash a very fast barrage of attacks upon it's opponent, which may result in broken bones, and deep wounds.

It flying speed is not very high, but it makes up for it with it's increased defense, it's feathers are hard, and therefore harder to pierce. It's most valuable asset is it's beak, which is usually used to make pickaxes.

It has no notable weak point.

Grimoire entry-

I will be calling this book the Grimoire, simply because it makes sense.

Study no 1- Mana infusion

This study is dedicated to see how different materials and objects react being infused by mana of different elements.

I started with wood first.

Wind- There seems to be a change in weight, it lightens, and at the same time, it's sturdiness decreases by a small amount.

Water- From the outside, no change is apparent, but it becomes highly resistant, almost immune to fire, and in some way, it sturdiness seems to have been increased, not it's durability, no. Its just, it takes more effort to break it.

Earth- Increased weight, increased durability, increased resistance to fire, not surprising.

Ice- Decreased sturdiness, which is strange, other than that, no other effects noted.

Life- No change, nothing at all, a bit surprising.

Fire- Immediately burst into flame, what else to expect? Still had to try it, for research's sake.

Shadow- The wood seems to darken a bit, other than that, there does not seem to be any difference.

Now, I will be using Iron swords.

Wind- Lightened, weakened, but it seems like the blades edge has been sharpened, it glows a faint green and the cutting ability of the sword has increased by some amount.

Water- No change apparent, still that weird sturdiness is present, will have to research that, but later.

Earth- Weighted, strengthened, it seems to have taken away some of the sharpness.

Ice- Increased sharpness, for some reason, and a whitish-blue glow envelopes the blade, letting out a cold aura, perhaps this can be utilized to attack?

Life- This test yielded surprising results, when brought into close proximity to an injury, the life mana moves on it's own accord and heals it! It can be stopped of course, but it is an interesting discovery.

Shadow- Small Black wisps emerge from the blade, and the seems to have gained a strange power of ignoring a part of the targets defense, it's not increased sharpness, no, more like the blade just... how should I put it? It just... phases through a part of the obstacle, let it be wood, stone or flesh. I can slash at a thin stick, and it won't get cut at all! This is a very good point to research on.
