Chapter 43 - Destroying the wolf den 4

Four huge ice spikes hit the wolf king, and while it's skin was pierced, only a small amount of blood flowed out pf the wound, showing that the attack only had a small effect on it.

'Tch, it really does have a high defense, I need to use defense piercing moves, or maybe impact will work? Doesn't hurt to give it a try.'

"Formation M1!" He shouted, and his men moved, "You three too, I can hold it back till you get in position. Now move!" He continued, shouting at the three who were with him.

Multiple Purposes Formation Number One - All soldiers get into odd numbered groups, with one standing a bit in front of the others. Those at the back use the 'Link' spell to boost the front's magic reserve, and who, depending on the situation, can do a variety of things, Attack, defend, heal, distract, trap, etc.

[Link]

[Allows the user to link their mana reserves with another's, giving both parties a increase on their mana output, directly increasing the power of their spells by a substantial amount. but be warned, if one party uses too much mana, both may suffer a backlash]

[A caster can link with multiple people at once, however, doing so weakens the link]

"Use your most powerful attacks! Retain MP for defense and movement!"

Verum had told them to use Ice last time they attacked because he did not want to damage the fur too much, he could tell that it was quite durable, and as such, could be used for making strong armor. But now, he knew how tough it was to kill it, and it was not worth it to try and preserve the fur, likely seriously injuring someone in the process, maybe even killing them. Which is why Verum's men were dealing with the king, while Vesi's people were dealing with the other, much weaker, wolves.

Verum maneuvered around the wolf, keeping it busy with him while they got into their positions. If one person did not know that they were fighting to the death, Verum would have been mistaken for a performer. He was dodging the wolfs attacks with minimal movement, just ducking and side stepping and jumping over it's furious swipes as it tried to hit him.

While this was going on, the others had gotten into groups of three, and now there were five people with basketball sized orbs of fire in front of them, ready to fire.

"Jason! Give me a countdown!" Verum shouted at Jason, who nodded without an expression on his face.

"5... 4... 3..." Jason started counting down, and Verum struck the wolf king on it's head, stunning it, and then moved away quickly, just in time.

"Fire!"

The fireballs struck the wolf king simultaneously, and the result, was a explosion that completely engulfed it.

"Did we get it?" One of the warriors asked, but Jason just shook his head. "No, it's way too tough to die to that attack, but it should be severely injured.

Jason was correct, as the flash of the explosion subsided, the wolf king was still standing, but know, it had lost most of it's power.

It's fur was black, with some patches of it on fire, there were two deep dents in it's side where the fireballs had struck it, and blood was cascading like a river out of it, giving it a savage appearance.

"Prepare to defend, now that it's weakened, it may go berserk on us, watch out of any unnatural mana movements." Verum cautioned, and he moved forward to finish it off.

The eyes of the wolf were bloodshot, and it was snarling, all of a sudden, it raised it's head and howled towards the sky.

"AWOOOOOOO!"

'AOE!' Was Verum's first thought, he could see the wind element mana particles gathering in four spots around the wolf king.

"SHIELDS UP! SHIELDS UP!" He frantically shouted, and ran backwards, away from the king.

A green magic circle appeared beneath the wolf king, and tornadoes started to form around it, in front, back, left, and right, four tornadoes in total.

All the warriors had retreated about thirty meters before the spell started, and there, they just threw out mana shields and held their position.

The wind, which was being whipped around by the tornadoes was sharp and capable of cutting through ordinary armor, which Verum inferred by seeing the grass around get disintegrated into nothingness.

Verum was also using a mana to protect himself, but instead of a square shield, his mana had instead wrapped around him, giving him an armor like covering in front, and protecting him from the wind.

At this point, the spell had been raging for five seconds, and Verum was getting a bit worried, as were all the others within the spell's radius. Their mana was dropping sharply trying to resist the fierce lashing that was being given to them, and they could not drink mana potions because they had to maintain the shield's stability. They were running out of time.

But thankfully, the winds started to die down after another 4 to 5 seconds of raging, and they all could breathe a sigh of relief.

They all stared at the wolf king, which was not snarling any longer, but was just staring at them.

"It has to be at the end of it's flight, the injuries we gave it are severe, and that blood loss is not small either, so now it will either collapse after a small struggle, or it will go berserk, and then collapse after a big struggle, either way, it is not going to live past this hour. Keep your guards up." Verum instructed, he had not linked with anyone, so his mana was almost empty, so he stayed back as his men approached the wolf king, which growled, trying to intimidate it's opponents, which sadly failed, as they drew even closer.

"Entangle!" Six of them shouted, which brought a frown on Verum's face.

Vines grew out of the ground and wrapped around the wolf king's legs, immobilizing it, and the other's just raised the weapons and stabbed it.
