It didn't look all that bad, as compared to the monsters usually depicted in stories and such.
It looked like a mix of a horse and a manticore, with sharp teeth, a tail filled with spikes, and hooves. It's fur was brown, other then it's ugly face, it looked quite strong.
Currently, it was sleeping, so I crept closer to use appraisal.
[???] [Lv: 25]
[HP: 750/750]
[Stampede]
[Gale]
[Sprint]
[Blade bomb]
[Barrage]
[Whirlwind]
[Berserk]
[A monster of unknown origin]
'Wow, that's a lot of skills.' Was the first thought that cam to my mind as I looked at the beast sleeping in front of me, I was 20 meters away from it, and from here, I could guess it's size to be about 3-4 meters in length, as for height, I couldn't tell.
I crept even closer, now I was between the pillars. Any further, and I knew the beast would wake up. The pillars were like the boundary for waking the boss.
I had the potions with me, for some reason, the system had a vague inventory function, It stored only items like the potions, the flags, and money, no resources or other items like that. Anyway, with the potion's help, I was fairly confident in defeating this thing, which is why I cast Fire ball to wake it up.
It roared, then stood up and looked at me, hmm, seems like the fire doesn't affect it that much, I need to use melee for this. Now that I could see it clearly, It was 3 meters long, 2 meters tall, and little more than half a meter wide.
The beast glared at me for a moment, and my body screamed, it's tail whipped towards me, launching faintly glowing spikes at me.
Thanks to the instinct, I had managed to move beforehand, for those things, were fast. According to what I saw, the speed of those spikes should be around 30 m/s, fatal, if I got hit.
It still did not move, I wondered if it could sense my level somehow, and think that I was too weak to kill it, for it seemed to hold me in contempt. It opened it's mouth, and a green ball started to condense, I knew that it was going to use Blade Bomb.
[Blade Bomb]
[A ball of small and concentrated wind blades which scatter on impact, dealing AOE]
[Cost: 50 MP]
[Cooldown: 10 seconds]
I quickly hid behind one of the pillars as the ball hit, and sent out attacks in every direction. The beast now seemed angry. It roared and started charging towards me, so I stepped in front of it. When it was a meter from me, I side-stepped, and drove my sword into it.
With a crack, my sword broke apart halfway up the blade. Now I was without a weapon, and the beast was not happy. The blade had managed to pierce it's hide and flesh, and was now jutting out it's side. I knew I stood no chance without a weapon, and although I could make another using the debris, It wouldn't work. It would just break apart again.
I glanced at the spikes behind the monster, maybe I could use those? They didn't crack when they hit solid rock at high speed, maybe they'll do the trick.
The only problem was, the beast that was charging at me again, I needed to concentrate to make the sword, since I was working with a new material, I needed to imagine every aspect of what I wanted. Any distraction, and it would fail.
I managed to lure it to the outside of the ruin, and now I needed to be careful, while the part I came up was relatively a gentle slope, the other parts were at atleast a 60 degree angle, with one of them being a cliff.
I wanted to bait it into charging down one of the steepest paths so I could get time to make that sword, the problem? It was much faster than me. I could not get into position quickly enough. It kept on charging, and sometimes using spells and skills as well.
When it used Whirlwind for the first time, I thought I was definitely gonna die, that spell launches you into the air! Very useful for dealing with swarms, but it doesn't feel good when used against you. One moment I was running around, the next I went spinning through the air and hit a pillar.
"Ugh!"
Quickly, I downed a health potion, and used Shadow flash to get out of the way of the charge. The beast slammed into the pillar, destroying it and causing big pieces of rubble collapse on it. I quickly got into position.
I was so relived when it finally ran off the cliff, but wasting no time, I ran into the ruin, and got to work.
It took me 7 seconds to make my new sword, but I had no time to inspect it, I had myself a plan. The rubble from the pillar had harmed the beast, so I made it my goal to make it slam into as many as I could. Between that and my stabs, it's HP went to 10% within a minute or two.
"RAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOR!!!" "Damn that's loud."
[Warning! The boss has entered it's berserk state!]
[Defense reduced by 80%! Attack and speed increased by 300%!]
The beast entered it's berserk state, so I quickly Shadow flashed to it, then using all my augmenting abilities, stabbed it. And it just fell over. Kind of anti-climactic, not gonna lie. But I was not taking any chances after coming this far.
[Congratulations on clearing the dungeon 'Bloody Ruins'!]
[Congratulations on obtaining the first clear!]
[Since you have 'Overkilled' the boss, additional loot has been dropped!]
"Overkill? What's that?"
Guessing by the name, it probably has to do with extra damage. But I didn't pay it nay heed, because in front of me, there was a chest. I couldn't tell what it was made of, all I knew was that it was white, and shining.
With high expectations, I opened it, and my eyes reflected all the things that I could see inside.
(Anyone got a name for the new sword? Comment and let me know! Preferably something related to the boss)
