Contrary to my expectations, the room was large enough to hold a conference meeting of some sort. The center was spacious, with a metal chandelier that dangling on the ceiling. Its surface gleamed, hit by the sunlight streaming from the rows of windows lining in equal intervals across the room.
Pressed against the wallpapered walls were numerous chairs. Some were already occupied, registrants waiting for their turn to be called to the table situated at the northern part. Murmurs of hushed whispers floated in the air, carrying voices of people from different walks of life. Everyone looked so different. Although, I couldn't see anyone around our age. But at least, there were those who seemed young. And seeing them made me feel relieved that it wasn't merely gruff and heavyset adults joining the competition.
