Back to the hotel...
Right after hunky daddy went out of that room, Lizeth found herself alone and tired recalling everything.
Lizeth now all remembered everything that happened the day after that. It was her graduation day and her birthday as well. Her father permitted her to be partying with Gaye and slept at her home.
However, what happened was something no one had anticipated. Lizeth was in the hotel with a man, not to mention a jaw-dropping handsome and deadly hot man.
He was like one of those actors who never grew old physically. He spoke and acted maturely but was hotter than all her courtiers/ classmates. Well, maybe she just simply got a thing for a matured man.
She always finds herself cringed over if a classmate would ask her on a date. They were too lousy for her. So, unstable and childish.
Ever since junior, all her crushes were her professor, but she stopped liking them when she learned that they were married. Because even though she enjoyed a mature man, she never dreamed of being someone's mistress.
Well, from that day on, hunky daddy would be her new crush.
She pouted after she remembered that he hadn't even been able to meet him formally. He hasn't mentioned his name as well as she to him.
What would be the chances to see hunky daddy again?
Her thoughts were disturbed when her phone rang. She checked it, and it wasn't Gaye this time.
It was an unknown number. Lizeth wondered who it was. It was yet three in the morning, and who would dare to call her that early? It wasn't also her dad's number and wasn't even on her contact. So that could probably be random strangers, prank call.
She ignored the call and went back to bed. She thought, since she was already inside a luxurious hotel room, she might as well take advantage of her time being there.
However, her phone rang back, and it was the same number that was calling her. She decided to stop ignoring it anymore and finally answered it, even though it annoyed her.
"HELLO!" Her voice was stern, making it appear from whoever on the other line to know that she wasn't in the mood for that call.
"Yes, it is. What can I do for you? My father isn't here. He was at work right now." This time Lizeth replied lazily.
Lizeth went speechless for a moment, and it seemed like the whole world stopped for a while and waited for her to absorb the information she had just heard. After a few moments of being shocked, she tried her best to reply to the girl on the line.
"W- what? W- ah- how's my dad?"
"Okay, thanks for the information. I will go there and check on him right away?" Lizeth said as she hastily grabbed her bag and tied back her jacket on her waist, and went out of the hotel.
***
Lizeth found out that her father was already under surgery. Some of his bones were broken, when he fell from the ceiling while working over the electrical wiring in the factory.
Not long after, the doctor came out. She abruptly ran towards him to ask how her father was.
"The surgery was successful," the doctor stated, and that gave Lizeth relief. "However, it would be hard for him to do the things he used to do. He will probably be bedridden in months. I can't tell the exact period of time since that would only depend on the therapy progress."
Lizeth simply nodded. Her heart sank with what she heard.
Lizeth was glad that her father survived and is still alive, but part of her was worried about her future. Because in that case, it would be evident that his dad would stop working. He was the only source of income their family had, and him without work could only mean one thing.
No college for her.
She wouldn't be able to attend the University. She wouldn't be able to reach her goal. How could she achieve her dream of becoming a known and professional fashion designer if that were the case?
She had just graduated high school, and her siblings were still in the seventh grade. It would be harder for them if they had to stop studying because we didn't have the money to pay for their tuition fees anymore.
Their life would surely be more challenging than before.
Nevertheless, Lizeth wasn't the kind of girl who would muse over a problem. Even though life would hit them hard, she knew she still had to see things from a different perspective.
She still got her dad. He was still alive. That only meant she didn't have to carry the burden of her family by herself and alone. She knew her dad wouldn't let them suffer that hard.
Maybe Lizeth knew that she would probably have to sacrifice her studies for now for the sake of her family. But, it would still be worth it. She knew her father was smart enough to plan things out, and it didn't matter for her if she had to do the work.
She wished her mother was still alive and was still there. But, if she was, she also hoped that it wouldn't be the reason she had to decide to take her life. Yes, her mom died because of suicide, and until that very moment, Lizeth didn't know the reason why she had done that.
Lizeth even blamed herself for years. She didn't know, but what if she was the reason? She also wished she was too keen to notice her mom being depressed. Her mom was a happy person, always smiling but no one knew what was inside her heart. No one noticed that she was depressed.
