Legends and Legacies are all werewolf packs have, alphas and betas meet their mates to breed and make more alphas and betas. They expand territories and sometimes the bigger packs absorb the smaller packs by offering protection in exchange for loyalty and land. Such choices made by alphas are at times frowned upon by pack members, particularly council members.
As a smaller pack is absorbed the alpha and beta remain in their positions and become council members of the bigger pack. Their smaller pack is now governed by a larger pack, there is no need for council members. This can create strife and nearly divide packs and families.
The legends become archives and archives are taught to the next generation, but some legends and legacies are long forgotten. Such legends as the Winston Witch Curse, it had been so long since anyone had heard of a Winston Witch, that it had nearly disappeared from the archives. It eventually wasn't taught anymore and with that came carelessness. For legend said a set of twins, a distich conceived under the black moon and born under a cold moon would create the power the Winston Witch would need to come back and have their revenge, on the werewolves and witch covens.
The Winston Witches were one of the oldest covens, they were near royalty in the realm of monsters. That was until one particular witch Lana Winston fell in love with a werewolf. Alpha John from the red creek pack, his mate Gwen was from the ever-green pack. John rejected Gwen after five years of bonded bliss, exiling her and their children and forcing the red creek pack to see Lana as their new and true Luna. Some in the red creek pack refused, and they were exiled, while some Lana hunted and put to death.
It wasn't enough for John and Lana, they attempted over and over to produce a hybrid heir, to no avail. They became obsessed with distich bonds and attempted to use the power of their bond to finally conceive an heir. Rumor spread of their heirs, while Lana was pregnant, and in fear, they hid until the baby was born. They were hunted for these abominations when finally caught they stood trial not only for the children they had but also the distich twins they had murdered for their power to conceive.
Their trial was the last time the witches and werewolves had worked together. John was killed first in front of Lana, a silver bullet, coated in wolfsbane straight to his heart, his body set on fire. While Lana stood screaming and cursing the covens and packs alike. Bringing out the child, the head of the witches' covens raised a silver blade to his throat as they stood in front of Lana. "NO!" she screamed as Wendel North slit the boy's throat in front of his mother before she was burned. That day the coven and packs agreed it wouldn't be safe to be around each other. They distanced across the globe as best as they could, never to acknowledge each other's existence, for fear the curses would come back.
The rest of the Winston witches went into hiding, ashamed of Lana and the son she had created. The red creek loyalist claimed their Alpha and Luna were murdered, but as the Beta Thomas Nolin agreed to take over the pack, the protests quieted down. Over one hundred years later the story of what happened that day was nearly forgotten. The elders of each coven and pack alike still knew the legend, but others put it out of their minds. It became an unwanted, unhappy story, no one wanted to burden their memories with. The curses, however, still remained.
