At twelve the twins should've begun their battle training, but Kaspar refused. "Kaspar you can't do this, they need to be trained or they will be seen as weak and we will be overtaken by another pack or clan," Sofie pleaded in his office. Alpha Kaspar knew she was right, but he was afraid, "Alpha, the Luna is right. The twins are behind in their training we need to begin now, before it's too late," the Beta Tobias begged. "Leave us, for a moment please," Elder Wallace announced.
Once everyone was out of the office, Elder Wallace shut the door and turned to face the Alpha. "I know what you are doing. The charity work, the archives back into school curriculum," he began. The Alpha refused to look at him, "You cannot stop this Alpha, no matter how much good and wisdom you pour into those children, it is still a possibility for one of them to be possessed," Wallace told him putting a hand on the Alpha's shoulder. "And why haven't you found a way to stop it," Kaspar growled in anger. Elder Wallace looked down, "Why aren't you scouring archives finding a way to stop this curse?" Kaspar asked again. "I apologize alpha," Elder Wallace replied.
The Alpha stood in frustration, he walked to the door and called in the Zeta and Delta wolves, who were the experts in training as they were stronger, faster, and more agile than all other wolves, excluding the alpha. "You are to train Blair harder, push her further," Alpha Kaspar told them. "Sir?" Zeta Todd questioned, furrowing his dark brows in confusion. "Everything her brother accomplishes, she will need to perfect," Kaspar commanded. They nodded in compliance, "Perhaps, the Gamma should assist Blair, as well," Elder Wallace suggested. The cold moon pack was lucky enough to have gained a Gamma, which were very rare indeed. Only occurring very hundred years or so, when a True Alpha bites a human or when a pack has grown to a certain size. Alpha Kaspar turned his head slightly, then looked back at Todd and Craig, and nodded. Todd and Craig nodded in compliance and walked out shutting the door behind him.
"She will be stronger than him," Elder Wallace observed walking towards the door. "She will need to be," Alpha Kaspar replied going back to his desk. Elder Wallace looked back at the Alpha's blue eyes, "How do you know?" Elder Wallace asked. "I've seen it," Kaspar answered with a pause, "She will need to be strong enough to take leadership of the pack," he added, his voice heavy with burden. "And what of her mate?" Elder Wallace asked his as eyes grew sad. "What of him?" Kaspar asked. "The boy is set to inherit his father's pack. He will return in two years," Elder Wallace replied. Kaspar didn't move a muscle, "Alpha Kaspar, she has a life spoken for," he added. Kaspar looked up from his seat, "I know, those will have to be her choices when she takes over," Kaspar answered ominously. Elder Wallace let out a deep sigh and nodded as he stood and left. As he walked down the hall, he wondered how long the Alpha had known it was the boy.
The years dragged on, Elder Wallace traveled to other packs asking elders and searching archives trying to find anything to stop the possession, to no avail. He was burdened with the failure of only finding the same words of the same curse in every archive. No one had ever tried to stop a Winston witch, nor had anyone ever recorded a Winston witch performing that ritual in nearly one hundred years.
Life went on, Kaspar trying to keep his children close and sheltered and no one understanding why. With his return Elder Wallace began watching the twins train, thinking maybe he could see the demon. Per Alpha's orders the twins were never trained together, they had two very distinct fighting styles Blair was smooth and graceful almost as if she was dancing on air. Very unlike Benjamin, who was aggressive, calculating, and always won. By the time the two were seventeen, the Zeta called a meeting in the conference room, with the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma and the three Elders. "Alright, we're all here, what is the reason for a four thirty meeting?" Alpha Kaspar asked annoyed. "We want to know what's going on?" Zeta Todd asked staring at the Alpha. "What do you mean?" Kaspar asked a little angered at being questioned. "Why are we training Blair so much harder than Ben?" Delta Craig asked. The Alpha stiffened, "Just do your job," he answered sternly. "Alpha, if I may," Elder Wallace began. "No, you may not," the Alpha put a stop to everything and got up to leave. "He's aggressive, Kas. He has a fire in him, I can see it," Todd told him.
No one had addressed the Alpha as Kas, since they were children. Alpha Kaspar stopped in his tracks, "We just want to know what is happening to him," Bruce added. Kaspar looked down in defeat, "They were conceived under a black moon," Alpha Kaspar told them tipping his head back in defeat. Elder Charles and Elder Luther began to whisper. "What does that mean?" Bruce asked. "That means one of them will be possessed and help a Winston witch perform her ritual for another hybrid," Elder Wallace explained with a sigh. "How long have you known?" Todd asked. "Does that matter," Kaspar answered. "Alpha he's injured some of the other students," Bruce interjected. "Then teach him humility," the Alpha said softly but directly and walked out. Bruce, Todd, and Craig shared a look, before the Elders announced they must keep this a secret for now. If other clans or packs were to hear of this now, it could cause challenges and treaty withdrawals. They agreed to attempt to teach Ben humility and try to help him control the anger and aggression in hopes they could curve the demon manifestation.
