Chereads / I am trash! [BL] / Chapter 14 - Wasn't he just a friend?

Chapter 14 - Wasn't he just a friend?

"You look like Xinyi."

Xin didn't look to be surprised as he heard this, on the contrary, this time, his face was really expressionless, making it impossible for even Wang GuiYing to guess what the man was thinking.

"Then do you look at him like that as well?" Xin asked.

Wang GuiYing felt his heart stop and his mind suddenly went blank as he heard this unexpected question that had hit him like a truck.

"Wasn't he just a friend?" Xin adds as he looks straight into Wang GuiYing's eyes without hesitating for even a second, "As far as I know, friends don't look at each other like that."

Wang GuiYing felt as if someone had seen right through him. He felt as if his most deeply hidden secret had been revealed just like that.

Even Zhou Xinyi had never been able to notice it so how could this man, who had just met him, know exactly what he felt?

Wang GuiYing couldn't help but feel a bit offended. This man clearly had no right to read his mind like that. He had no right to just say things that Wang GuiYing had so desperately tried to hide. He had no right to reveal a secret that Wang GuiYing had buried so deep inside.

"You said your name was Xin, right?" Wang GuiYing clicked his tongue but didn't even let the man speak as he continued, "Well, Xin, has anyone ever told you how annoying your straightforwardness can be? You should stop trying to poke your nose in someone else's business."

Xin let out a small scoff as he heard this and replied, "It's not someone else. It's you."

"..."

"I'm genuinely interested to know simply because it's you."

Wang GuiYing was clearly a bit stunned to hear this firm reply.

"You must really like me if you say things like that so shamelessly," Wang GuiYing teased with a dry chuckle.

Xin gave a small smile and was about to agree, but Wang GuiYing didn't let him talk.

"Don't you dare say 'yes'! I'm warning you."

Xin shut his mouth up and nodded his head in understanding.

Wang GuiYing sighed as he shook his head, feeling a little exhausted, "Xinyi and I... We're friends. There's nothing more to say."

Once again, Xin looked to be a bit disappointed by the answer but he still nodded his head in understanding and didn't say anything more.

"So help me look for him, okay?" Wang GuiYing smiled as he added.

"I'm a wind and earth mage. I won't be of much help but I'll try."

"A dual-element mage?" Wang GuiYing looked to be a bit surprised as he questioned.

Xin nodded his head as he confirmed it.

After seeing the man's ability back in the cave, Wang GuiYing was already sure that this man was an outstanding player, however, he would have never expected the man to be a dual-element mage.

Most mages could only deal with one element, however, sometimes, there were exceptional players who were able to perfect more than a single element at the same time and they were often called a dual-element mage.

It happened so rarely that out of every five hundred thousand players, there was only a single player that would become a dual-element mage.

"Impressive," Wang GuiYing complimented the man but Xin didn't exactly look to be fazed by the complement.

Wang GuiYing opened his mouth to say something more but he was suddenly interrupted by a loud growling sound coming from right beneath them.

Wang GuiYing's eyebrows creased together and he looked down at the ground with a frown as he asked, "What was that."

"It's here," Xin sighed out, "The owner of the cave."

"Eh...?" It took a minute for Wang GuiYing to process the sentence through his brain and understand it.

He vaguely remembered Xin talking about something that was coming after them inside the cave.

The ground suddenly quivered. Like a heartbeat, it was steady and at equal intervals.

Wang GuiYing was not sure who the owner of the cave was but just from the way the ground shook with each footstep of that so-called owner, he was sure that the owner wasn't happy about the hole in the ceiling left behind by Xin.

"Should we run?" Wang GuiYing asked as he looked at Xin.

"Too late," Xin only gave a short response.

In the very next second, Wang GuiYing's head snapped towards his right and he stared at the hole in the ground.

However, the cave owner did not use the hole to come out.

"Look out!" Wang GuiYing heard Xin warning him but before he could even react, he was once again swept off of his feet and carried in the man's arms.

Wang GuiYing looked back and saw debris flying right towards them. He immediately shut his eyes tight and looked away.

He instinctively positioned his hands in front of his face, trying to save his head, however, there was no need for it since there was already someone else protecting him from it.

Xin hid Wang GuiYing behind a tree and firmly spoke, "Stay here for a moment. I'll try to be quick."

Before Wang GuiYing could respond, the man had already left, heading for the monster that had attacked them.

Wang GuiYing was yet to see the monster and although Xin had warned him to stay hidden, his curiosity still made him take a peek.

The creature had three heads. One was that of a snake, the other was that of an alligator, and the third was that of a komodo dragon. It had three legs that were short and covered with rock-hard scales. Its tail was super long and almost looked like the tail of a giant snake.

The creature was as big as a mammoth and it looked to be agitated. Extremely agitated...

Wang GuiYing gulped as he looked at Xin with his eyes wide open in shock. He couldn't believe that the man was so confident when going against something that terrifying.

The man clearly had guts.

If Wang GuiYing wanted, he could lend a helping hand and beat the creature. He knew he could do that much easily, but he still stayed hidden behind the tree and carefully watched the scene without even thinking about interfering.

He wanted to see what made Xin so confident. He wanted to check for himself just how strong dual-elemental mages were, and so, he patiently waited.

Xin walked towards the creature and stood right in front of it as he began chanting something.

The creature struck forward and its alligator head tried to take a bite out of the man, but at the last possible second, Xin jumped up and with such a perfectly calculated jump, he landed right on top of the alligator head.

The snake head was the next to strike but before its mouth could reach the man, with a loud thud, the alligator head dug down into the ground.

It almost looked as if Xin had kicked it down but on closer inspection, it could be noticed that the force wasn't coming from above the creature, it was coming from below it.

The other two heads hit the ground together and the creature roared in pain. Its legs gave out and the ground around the creature started to crack as the creature got pulled deeper and deeper into the ground.

The fight had ended before it even began and the massive gap in strength between the creature and Xin was hard not to notice.

There was a strong wind that even Wang GuiYing could feel.

Xin leisurely patted the snake's head and as soon as he raised his hand, the creature was chopped up into dust by the wind, leaving behind nothing more than three high-quality pink-colored magical stones.

Wang GuiYing was speechless. He felt as if he had just witnessed the most overpowered character to ever exist in a game.

Even Huang Zhihao had never managed to amaze him like this and that in itself spoke a lot.

Wang GuiYing was sure that even he would have been able to beat that snake but he was still well-aware of his own capabilities and also knew that even if he were to do that, he would never be able to do it this quickly and gracefully.

To move so efficiently and with such great power that brought terror to the hearts of even the bystanders, it wasn't something everybody could do.

"It's safe now. You can come out," He heard the voice of Xin and Wang GuiYing finally snapped out of his thoughts and closed his mouth that was hung open in awe till now.

"Are you sure you're just a mage?" For some reason, this was the first question that came out from the top of Wang GuiYing's head.

"I am," Xin simply responded with a nod.

"Then how long have you been playing this game for?"

"I've been playing for almost three years."

Wang GuiYing's eyebrows creased together and he clearly had another very important question left to ask as he heard the man's response, but he was a bit hesitant since it wasn't really a polite question.

This man was an ID thief who had been playing for the past three years. So just how long has it been since he had been stuck inside the game?
