"Hisoki?" Baker asked, looking up at him. Everyone was. He smiled, looking towards the blond boy. "Sorry, just spaced out for a moment." He chuckled. He looked back at Mago, who gave him a concerned look. He switched his eyes to Wafi and Yoshi, who were sitting on the ground but looking at Hisoki.
Hisoki smiled quietly. "Let's go eat, ok?'
Yoshi gave him a hesitant look before nodding, standing up. "Ok, but the birthday boy goes first!" His excitement was back in his voice, which made HIsoki happy. They didn't need to start worrying about him."I'm fine. You guys can go eat. I already had lunch." Hisoki waved them off, Wafi shrugging. He stood up after Yoshi, walking over to the table full of food and snacks. "These look amazing." He mumbles to himself, taking a piece of pizza and a cupcake. "Fine, but you're cutting the cake." Mago gestured towards him angrily, before walking behind Wafi.
Hisoki nodded, sitting on his desk and watching the others get food. He adjusted his party hat on his head. "You know, this is one of the first times I ever had a birthday party." He said, sadness overtaking happiness. Baker looked up at him, eyes wide with a frown. "One of your first, really?" He asked, Hisoki nodded. Mago hummed, walking over to the two, a slice of pizza and two cupcakes on his plate. They are both a deep chocolate color, with white frosting and black detailing. "I made sure to do it before I had to leave school." Mago replied with a stiff nod.
Baker smiled towards the tan boy. "Wow, so the great Mago really does have a good heart." Baker voiced dreamily, mago glaring at him. Hisoki rolled his eyes, finally unwrapping the cupcake and taking a bite. The pastry was smooth and creamy, the rich chocolate perfectly balanced with the soft buttercream mix. He gave a thumbs up to Mago slowly pulling the cupcake away from his mouth. His phone buzzed in his back pocket, but all he did was pull it out and place it on the table.
"Ok, let's sing happy birthday!" Yoshi said, walking over to the cake to unveil it. He set down the plastic cover as Wafi turned off the lights. "Mago somehow went from beside him to Yoshi's side, helping light the candles. However, once the two were ready, they slowly walked over to Hisoki.
"*1,2,3. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Hisoki, happy birthday to you!*" The four sang, Yoshi placing the cake onto the table beside Hisoki. Hisoki clapped as well, being as it was in english and they didn't do bad singing. "Amazing. You all will get an A for this assignment because you spoke in English." He joked, Kai cheering. "Yes!" He yelled. "Make a wish!"

Everyone sat on the floor, all mostly energetic from the black and white cake. "Can you do mine first?" Yoshi asked, placing the white gift wrapped box in front of HIsoki. Baker didn't want to go first, he didn't want to go at all. He watched the others pick out their gifts for Hisoki, and they all were extravagant, something Hisoki would love. But Baker, though he put a lot of thought into the gift, knew it wouldn't be as good. In his eyes, it was destined to fail.
Hisoki held the box in his hand for a moment, weighing the item inside. The box fit in the palm of his hand, the paper blac with white polka dots. "It's heavy." He observed, before setting the box down. He carefully ripped off the wrapping, seeing someone's name on the top of the box, in gold calligraphy. He looked up at Yoshi confused. Baker leaned over to look at the box; it was definitely jewelry. Yoshi just beckoned him forward. Hisoki nodded, slowly opening the box.
It was a golden bracelet, made with a flimsy chain, a gold infinity sign made with small diamonds circling it. There were three more diamonds on each side of the bracelet, connecting the sign and the chain. Hisoki glazed his finger over the infinity sign. He smiled, sliding it onto his wrist. "I chose gold because you wear a lot of browns, which go really well with the color." Yoshi said hopefully, as Baker examined the bracelet. He wondered why infinity.
"This is beautiful, Yoshi. I'll make sure I wear it every day." He said, smiling up at the boy, who squealed. "YES!" He punched a hand in the air. He cleaned up the black and white paper, throwing it into the trash can. Wafi rolled his eyes, sliding his box over to Hisoki. His was bigger and flatter, wrapped in the opposite of Yoshi's, white paper and black polka dots. Hisoki nodded, starting to rip off the paper.
Underneath the paper was a simple white box, taped on all four sides. Hisoki peeled the tape, opening it. It was a long trench coat, most likely going down to his knee, if not a little lower. Three golden buttons on one side, though only for decoration. The trench coat had a hood, with a flared out collar. It was silky smooth, and perfect for cold weather. "I was planning on getting you something funny, but I saw this in the store and had to buy it." Wafi explained, as Hisoki stood up and put on the coat.
It was as if the outfit was perfect. The jacket fanned out at his waist, the sleeves going over his knuckles. Hisoki twirled around, before sitting back down. "Thanks, Wafi. I really do like it." He says happily, the boy cheering. "Are you going to wear all of our gifts?" Mago asks, leaning back onto his arms. "Are all of your gifts able to be worn?" Hisoki challenged with a smile. He had always done this since he was young. He would wear the clothes and jewelry on the day he got them. Baker reached into the bag, grabbing a piece of paper. He handed it to Hisoki.
It was in English. The professor read it outloud for the students to understand. "This is the authentication card of L-" Hisoki stares down at the card, not noticing Baker and Yoshi scooting around to look at it. "What?" Baker asked from his left. Hisoki slowly lowered the card, look up at Wafi. "Where did you buy this jacket from?" Hisoki asked, his euphoric demeanor changed to a hesitant one. Wafi looked at him for a moment. "Where did I- oh Louis Vuitton. Do you not like that store?" Wafi asked worriedly. Mago sighed, standing up and grabbing the card from Hisoki's hand, placing it in his pocket. "Don't- I don't wanna hear it." Mago says, sitting behind him.
Hisoki had a sad smile on his face. "No, it's fine. Just, why did you spend so much on me?" He asked quietly. He wasn't shocked by what Mago would say. These two have already been through a discussion like this. He didn't like when people spent loads of money on him. Never have, and never will. Wafi shrugged. "You are like… my favorite part of my day. I kinda have to show you that somehow. And besides, it didn't cost that much. It was on sale, and my friend gave me a discount." He said casually. He poked Hisoki's leg. "Plus, you should remember this birthday. It's going to be your best one ever." He voiced, Yoshi nodding his head from the right of him.
Mago back hugged him, placing his chin on Hisoki's shoulder. "And you're going to keep it. Don't even think about saying otherwise." He says harshly, though everyone in the room could see through it. Hisoki looked down at the box for a moment before sighing. "Ok, I'll keep it. But," He points to Wafi. "When your birthday comes, expect something just as extravagant." He smiles, setting the box under Yoshi's jewelry box.
Mago let's go of the hug, going to grab his gift. It was a simple envelope. He handed the pink envelope to Hisoki, who eyed him weirdly. "Is this item prohibited in school?" He asked wearily, Mago hitting him on the arm. "Come on, you've done it before." Hisoki said with a smile, as Yoshi gasped. "What was it?" He asked curiously. "A samurai sword. He had gotten it from a thrift store and wanted to show me, but he didn't know where I lived at the time." Hisoki explained, as he used his nail to open the pink envelope. He slid out a pastel blue card. It had an illustration of a plastic coffee cup filled with a latte, flowers, and a donut. He read the top. "Happy Birthday, after this I owe you coffee, flowers, and donuts." He read, chuckling.
He opened the card to see a sketch on lined paper. It was someone- no him, sitting at his desk. He was positioned leaning onto the desk, his head leaning on his elbow as he wrote something down with the other hand. The drawing was precise, from the way his hair was styled, to his outfit, everything looked planned out. As if it was a picture. When did Mago do this? He never knew the other was good at drawing, at least not this good. There was no color in the sketch, yet the scribbles on the paper created depth of objects. He set the card to the side, looking at the picture alone.
"This is stunning." Hisoki mumbled, not daring to touch the picture. The other boys gathered around once again to look at the sketch. "Wow, Mago. You are an amazing artist." Yoshi mumbled, looking at the drawing. Mago smiled, nodding his head. "Thanks." He murmurs. Hisoki stared at the sketch for another minute, before sliding it back into the birthday card, sliding that into the envelope. "I'll read the rest when I get home, promise." He says, setting the envelope aside.
"Well, now that gift giving is over, I'm ready for more pizza!" Baker said, standing up. As he starts walking to the food table, Mago grabs him back. "Uh uh. No you don't. What about your gift?" He asks, pulling Baker to the floor. THe blonds eyes widened, shaking his head. "No, no it's ok. My gift isn't that good, it's kind of boring and I uh-"
"You don't have to give me a gift if you don't want to Baker." Hisoki calmly voiced, Baker's eyes going to him. He shook his head. "Uh, no. I can, it's just. I-" He groaned, face palming. That made Hisoki smile even more. Cute. He watched as Yoshi handed him Baker's gift, pulling the boy to sit next to him. "Let's do this." Kai said happily, leaning on Wafi's shoulder. Hisoki opened the box wrapped in white paper.
It was a book, The Alchemist to be exact. Hisoki slid the light book out of the box, turning it around to read the back. "I saw you reading The Little Prince, so I thought I could give you another book that is just as good." He mumbled shyly. Hisoki had heard about this book before, and one of his friends told him it was really good. However he had never got to read it, not until now. He smiled, nodding his head. "Thank you, Baker. I will read this book and we can talk about, sounds good?" He asked, making Baker smile happily.
"Sounds great."
