Chapter 23 - Chapter 22

Baker slid into Kai's car, in the back seat. Wafi and Mago were both already in the car, and the last person they needed to pick up was Yoshi. They all had decided to go out to the mall. Homecoming was coming up and they needed to get ready. Not that any of them were going, Yokosa's homecomings are always boring. It's the after parties that they were dressing up for. Kai looked through the mirror to him. "Welcome to the spaceship." He greeted, before driving from his house. Mago scoffed. "We aren't actually calling it a spaceship, are we?"

Baker didn't exactly know what the two were talking about. So he just sat back quietly. "Baker, do me a favor and call Yoshi to tell him we're on the way." Wafi asked, noticing Baker's silence. The blond nodded, grabbing his phone. He went to Yoshi's contact, clicking the call button. He raised the phone to his ear, hearing the high pitched tone for a moment. "Hello?"

That…. That wasn't Yoshi's voice.

"Um, who is this?" Baker asked, his eyebrows furrowed. Mago, who was also sitting in the backseat, stopped his conversation with Kai to look at him. There was silence for a moment. "Who are you?" The low voice demanded, not angry, but seemingly frustrated. "Yoshi's friend Baker. Who are you?" Baker asked again, his voice stumbling slightly. "His boyfriend." The voice answered. Yoshi had a- oh yeah, he did. It was like…. Dolion.

Baker tried to find his words, tapping his foot lightly on the carpeted floor. "Can you give the phone to Yoshi?" Baker asked, the voice not answering. There was silence, and Baker thought that he was giving the phone to Yoshi, but the same voice returned. "He's not here." The voice answered. Baker didn't believe it, not one bit. He huffed, frustrated. Yoshi had said he wanted to go with them to the mall to shop, why was his boyfriend answering the phone? "Yes he is, let him have the phone." Baker's voice was tense, anger prominent over reasoning. Mago grabbed Baker's other arm, Wafi turning around in his seat to look at him. They both seemed confused. "Listen-"

"No, you listen. Put Yoshi on this goddamn phone right now." Baker demanded harshly, his voice darkening. There was silence on the other end, Mago taking the time to pull on his arm to get his attention. "What's wrong?" He asked worriedly, but Baker shook his head. He had never been this mad before, not at someone. "Hello?" Baker took a breath of relief at the sound of the light voice.

It was Yoshi.

"Hey, I'm going to pick you up, ok? Where are you right now?" Baker asked, his voice going back to his normal self, lightening up. "'What? Why? Baker, I'm fine. I don't really want to go to the mall any-" "We aren't going to the mall. Not right now. We need to have a conversation first. Text me the address." He said. Baker could hear Yoshi sign on the other end, before the boy hummed and hung up the phone. Baker slowly lowered his phone, groaning.

"What happened?" Wafi asked, concern obvious on his face. "Yoshi has a boyfriend, if you didn't know that. Also, if you didn't know. He's a total-" Before Baker could finish his sentence, his phone buzzed. He turned it on, seeing a message from Baker. It was his address. "We have to pick him up." He said.

Baker slid his phone to Kai. "Here's the address. Do you know it?" Baker asked, Kai simply nodded. Wafi watched the interaction. "I am still confused, why are we going to save Yoshi instead of just picking him up?" Kai asked, turning back around as the car started to drive off. Baker sighed, his arms crossed. If this was a cartoon, Baker's ears would be filled with smoke. "Dolion answered, not Yoshi. And when I asked to speak to Yoshi, he wouldn't allow me to. When I finally got to talk to him, his voice sounded very….." Baker couldn't find the best word. Mago looked at him. "Sad?" Mago asked, Baker shook his head. "Scared?" Wafi answered, Baker shook his head again. Baker thought for a moment.

"Fake."

Kai turned the car towards the curb, parking the vehicle. "Ok-" Mago started, before he was cut off by Kai opening his door. Baker and Wafi quickly followed. Mago sighed dramatically, opening his door after. The house was stunning, but it didn't have the normal four or five cars a normal family would have. Did Dolion live alone? Baker sucked in a breath, before walking onto the sidewalk that led to the door. "You three are going to get into a fight." Mago observed, Wafi huffing. "Good, that asshole deserves it."

Kai was the first at the door, knocking on it harshly. He took a step back, crossing his arms. When the wooden door first opened, Baker could hear only one thing.

Crying.

"Oh hell no." Kai yells, pushing the boy in black back and inside the house. Baker rushed in afterwards, looking around the room. "Yoshi!" He yelled, trying to find the boy. He wasn't in the main room. He ran down a random hall, the cries becoming louder as he ran into the kitchen. The kitchen light was on, though the main source was a side door that led to the outside. "Yoshi!" He yelled louder, going through an opening in the kitchen, towards a room. He grabbed the handle, opening the creaky door.

Yoshi sat on the bed, his head lowered. Some sort of gag was on his mouth, stopping him from saying anything. His hair split into two pigtails, with his hands tied to the two bed posts at the top, his legs kicking out. What the hell was happening? "Yoshi.." Baker mumbled, running up to the boy. He untied his hands, before taking out the gag- no it wasn't a gag. It was a pacifier. A fucking-

"B-Baker." He mumbled, as Baker threw the pink glittery pacifier onto the bed. "Come on, get up." Baker encouraged, stepping back. "I- I can't. My ankle- he…" Yoshi started crying again. Baker leaned to the boy, grabbing him by the waist and lifting him up. "Wrap your legs around me. I'll get you out of here." He said, Yoshi doing as told and wrapping his legs around Baker's waist, his arms around his neck. Baker started walking to the kitchen, the yellow light illuminating Yoshi's face.

His face was red, with tear stains showing his freckles. His lip was bleeding, but even Baker knew Yoshi enough to know that he was biting his lip. Yoshi tends to do that when he's anxious. Yoshi hid his face in Baker's shoulder, his hands grabbing onto the blonds shirt. Baker walked to the door from the kitchen, opening it to not have to go through the main room. He didn't know if a fight happened or not, but he didn't want to take a chance.

He just needed Yoshi in the car.

Mago was leaning on the brick wall when Baker and Yoshi made it to the front. "Woah, is he-" Baker looked over at him, and simply shook his head. Mago, thankfully, got the message, shutting up and running to them. Baker opened the car door, sliding Yoshi into his seat. He shut the door lightly, turning to Mago. "Talk to him, not about what happened. Just…. Comfort him." Mago nodded, going to his side of the car.

Baker took a moment to give his lungs a chance to function properly, before walking back towards the house. He had to get Wafi and Kai out of there. He stepped into the main room, seeing Kai right as the boy threw a swing at him. Wafi pulled Dolion back from his shirt, throwing him to the ground. "Come on!" Baker yelled, getting the two's attention.

Kai and Wafi looked at him for a moment, before Wafi grabbed Kai's arm, pulling him towards the door. "Is Yoshi fine?" Wafi asked, walking out. Kai shook out of Wafi's grip. "He will be. What's wrong with him?" Baker asked, walking down the steps and towards the car. Wafi sighed. "He has known Yoshi for a long time. Anyone messes with Yoshi, they mess with Kai." Wafi explains, touching his cheek. He hissed, placing his hand back down.

Baker and Wafi both get into their seats, Baker scooting Yoshi over to the middle seat. His face was still red, the cut on his face prominent from the dried blood. He wouldn't need to go to the hospital, which was always nice, but he needed help. "My Mom is a doctor, I know how to help him." Mago said as Baker slid on his seat belt, letting Yoshi lay his head on Baker's lap. Baker played with his brown hair. "Yeah, let's go to your place then." Kai said, putting the car into drive.

Most of the car ride was silent, only the sound of the soft hum flew into their ears. However, halfway to Mago's apartment, Yoshi looked up. "Thank you." He mumbled weakly, his voice quiet. Baker stopped playing with his hair for a moment, before sighing.

No one answered him on the way home.
