"Harley, please," Kai begged, looking up at the other senior. He knew his begging wasn't going to work, Yoshi- who was behind him -also knew "No. I'll leave since I didn't feel like seeing his idiotic face anyways. But I'm not going to celebrate his birthday with you." He mutters, before walking away. Kai bitterly sighs, turning around to face Yoshi. "Come on, let's go. We need to see what everyone's doing." Yoshi says, pulling Kai's yellow sleeve.
They were tasked with one job; get Harley to go to the party. And though they failed, at least he wouldn't ruin it. Kai followed behind him. "Did you pick up the cake this morning?" Kai asked Yoshi, as he opened the door. There were black and white balloons on each corner of the wall, a big black banner with white letters that said 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!; Party hats on everyone's head, with a table that was stolen from the kitchen. Black and white cupcakes and cookies filled most of the space, with the rest going to two platters of pizza.
"Yeah, it's in the kitchen's freezer. One of the cafeteria staff let me put it in there." He said with a smile, walking over to one of the desks. Baker had multiple black and white party poppers and handed one to Kai. "When he walks in, pop them." He says, before going over to Yoshi. Mago sat on one of the desks, on his phone. Kai walked over to the tan boy, glancing over. Mago tilted his phone so the other could read. It was Hisoki's contact. "I need to make up a reason to go see him so we know where he is," Mago mutters, as Kai reads the messages.
We need to talk
About?
It's important
What is it?
I can't tell you now
Why?
Because...
Mago
Hisoki
Do you just want to bother me?
No, it's important
Do you need me? Where are you?
Nowhere, I'll go to you
You can't go where I am
Why?
Cause it's the teacher's lounge
Then leave the teachers lounge
You're so childish
Is that a yes?
Yeah I'll meet you at the commons
Fine see you there
Thanks!
You better not be late for class
Kai looked up at him, tilting his head to the door. "You should probably…" Mago shrugs, taking off his birthday hat. " He shakes his auburn hair. "Eh, let's let him wait a minute." He says, stretching out onto the desk. Kai scoffs, rolling his eyes. "He might leave, go." Mago gave him a bored look, but Kai only laughed. "Fine, whatever." He muttered, leaning back up and hopping off the desk. As he walked away, Kai noticed something. How similar Mago was to Hisoki. The way they walked and joked about things.
"Huh, weird."
____
Mago smiled slightly when he saw Hisoki. He waved at him casually, the professor seemingly not noticing him. He was a little down the hall from him, but Mago could still see him. How he softly mumbled the words of the book he was reading. His small nose lifted the hair that was covering his face. How his finger tapped on the edge of the read book. His dark brown eyes scanned over each page. His entire outfit was different shades of brown, standing out against the white brick walls. A caramel-colored turtleneck, with a mocha blazer and a slightly lighter shade of his pleated pants. Gold jewelry on his wrists, gingerbread-colored dress shoes. Why did he always have to look good?
Mago walked up to him, standing in front of him and tapping on the elder's shoulder. He looked up and smiled. "You wanted to talk?" He asks as the five-minute warning bell rings. Time to get him. "Yeah, I did. But first, I heard it was your birthday." He said with a smile as Hisoki leaned up from the wall. He nodded, beginning to walk to his classroom. "Yeah, it is." He chuckles, a slight nod to his head. "Sorry I don't have anything. As a poor college student, I couldn't buy you a gift." He said, false sadness in his voice. Hisoki looked up concern on his face. "Did I ask for a gift? I don't want anything. The fact that you remembered shocked me, but I didn't expect anything." He says with a joking smile.
Mago sighed and nodded. He should become an actor. He had gone to the store with the students to all buy gifts, and that's where he learned that they were all rich. That's also where he learned that they were all sincere. "That's good. Now, I wanted to talk to you about the college you went to." Mago said shyly. He had been meaning to have this conversation, so he thought this was the best time. But he never thought it would be that hard to talk about.
"Oh- ok, cool. What about it?" Hisoki asked, holding the book with one hand, the other in his pocket. He didn't look like he belonged in a high school, he looked like he belonged on a runway. Mago grabbed his phone, texting Yoshi. He's coming. "You know, I'm just- why do you look so hot right now?" Mag asked, going off-topic. It was a genuine question, as well as one to change the topic. But mostly just a question. Hisoki glanced over at him, shrugging. "Uh-huh, thanks."
Mago nodded, crossing his arms as they made it to the classroom. The window only showed a black, with no lights in the room. Hisoki opened the door, his shoes clicking in the silent room as he walked to the other side. Mago walked in after him, shutting the door, shutting out the light from the hallway. "Why did you do that?" Hisoki asked, no form of fear in his voice. "Turn on the lights. It's too damn dark to see." He grumbles though a smile was on his face. Hisoki laughs, turning on the lights.
"SURPRISE!!"
The four boys hidden in the colored room jumped out from their hiding spots, Bakker and Wafi shooting party poppers. Hisoki went silent for a moment, jumping back slightly. However, he quickly understood what was happening, a smile on his face. He laughed for a moment, his hand on his heart. Yoshi ran up to him, pushing him down so that Yoshi could place a party hat on his head. HIsoki turned to look at the food table.
"I know we don't have much time, since school will be over in about two hours. But I thought we could play some music and have fun." Yoshi said, stepping back and shrugging. Mago smiled, leaning on the opposite door. Baker ran up to Hisoki. "No! First, gifts!" Baker said excitedly, running over to the desk. There were different colored gifts. Hisoki gasped quietly, covering his mouth. There weren't that many gifts, only one from each boy, but it still meant a lot to the teacher. "You guys are so sweet." He mumbled, looking around. He did a three-sixty, looking at the different decorations.
"Let's eat first, then we can do presents. We didn't have lunch, so I'm starving." Kai said happily, walking down from his hiding spot and to Hisoki. He pats the teacher on his shoulder, grabbing a plate. "Happy birthday." He says, a genuine smile on his face. Hisoki scoffs, rolling his eyes. "You sound like a dad." He jokes as Kai got groups for each person. "No! Hisoki's a daddy!" Wafi said loudly, popping out of nowhere. Kai threw a plate at him like a frisbee, Wafi ducking just before it hit him. Hisoki turned to look at him and raised an eyebrow. Wafi shrugged. "You are, let's be honest."
Hisoki clicked his tongue, sighing. "That's- I should be used to you saying such things, Wafi." He laughs, taking the plate that Kai handed him. "Are you offended? Or…. maybe aroused?" That's when Yoshi tackled Wafi to the ground. Kai threw another paper at him. "I swear to god! Can you stop saying stubid shit like that for a goddamn second!?" Yoshi yelled angrily, hitting Wafi, though it didn't have much flame behind it. Mago only rolled his eyes. Why was he used to this?
