Chereads / She: The Bloodsuckers Beast / Chapter 27 - Falling

Chapter 27 - Falling

I woke up realizing I should have just slept more.

Relentless with only one arm snaking on the whole of my body, Damien's chestnut hair is disheveled as he leaped from the branches to branches of trees that are immaculately extending to the high horizon.

I fisted my hand on his collar when he suddenly scored a very outrageous hop, landing us at the mind-boggling top of the fifth tree after the previous one!

He is still holding most of my body, but I extended my arms and clutched myself to the only trunk there is and firmly closed my eyes cause the height below is making the whole of my body wobble.

And the only thing that I could be thankful for is the tree trunk that is slim enough for my full embrace.

What is up with these vampires and their insatiable hunger to relish great heights?! And why do I have to be on these adventures?

Something broke and my eyes dilated in terror. Only to see him really breaking countless branches as if on a fussy pick!

"Too pudgy it won't do."

He threw one and suddenly kneeled to reach other branches... for twigs, making my arms extend more as he bend farther.

I painfully watched my arms stretch more than they should.

"This will break," he murmurs after the 10th.

And the poor twig likely fell down. I can't look below, I might die.

After a long famishing while, he stood with a single twig on his fingers.

I am already thinking about how he will prick my eyeballs with that but he shortly started to floss on the between of his tooth.

"Is there a steak left?" he asked though already checking it himself with his tongue.

Why the hell does that matter in this very situation?!

I didn't answer and just concentrated on securing the tightness of my embrace for dear my life. After that phenomenal scene with Ryelia, here I am on the same day, hopeless and flabbergasted again at the stretch before my feet, groping with restless heartbeats as series of unfortunate scenarios looms inside my head!

I am not that kind of acrophobic, but with them, I can't help but be it.

I must have done evil in my past life.

"And are you really hugging a tree?"

What really is wrong with him? I scowled and he whistled mischievously.

"Oh, how scary that look is. A sister in her pitchfork eyes that hates on brother when in their most daredevil liberating stints! What a scary woman you really are, my sister…" he theatered in a quivering voice.

"I am so terrified of how you are now killing the trunk,"

Why on earth doesn't he shut up? Can't he for an hour stop running that mouth of him? Cause it always doesn't fail to dismay its listeners!

"Can you… please…" I exhaled my annoyance. "At least zip your mouth since it looked like removing me from this horrible situation is not on your plan yet?"

"Oh, you can still talk while strangling an awful victim. Now that is something I would do too. See? We are connected." he declared. "We gave our victim and audience such fruitful conversation before they can't contain to hear of our voice anymore,"

I sighed and tore my face away from his sight.

What a loud mouth.

It is better to not just talk to him.

It took me a long while of silent prayer for everyone he might encounter. I can already foretell how a nuisance it would be. This man is irrevocably a pest to someone's peace.

"Look at that dumb vampire," he mumbled passionately, making me open my eyes.

But before I realize who or what he is talking about, the majestic view that our position privileged us kept me still. The absolute rawness of nature here... will never be achieved in the human world. In our center is the lurking bare beauty of uncivilized hills, untouched and in its perfect natural shape and shade. It is prettier when the sun is out there, shoving us those mystical forests that are full of trees... unmined. On our left is the crystal clear and active waterfalls that extend until the blueish-green ocean after some edgy cliffs, which is probably more than half of the whole place.

But despite the apparent breeze and luxury of the world in front of me, there is the sun, striking hotter per minute, so I can't stop it when a thought escaped my mouth. Especially when he is out here with me, hiding himself in a shade.

"If I am indeed a vampire as you say, why am I out here with the sun, not a little seared like I am supposed to be?"

I am immediately discourage when he undoubtedly revealed himself from the tree shade and stopped just exactly at the most sun's glory which is on the farthest edge of the branch.

"Oh! How my skin enjoys the sun,"

He opened his mouth and the fangs automatically appeared as he talked. "Maybe I am not a vampire too?"

So unbelievably irritating.

I busted off. "You should be showing this to your sister, not me,"

"How sure are you that you are not that sister anyway? Cause you don't have fangs? Is it because you cannot run as fast as we are? How do you know you can't?"

"Cause I lived all my life without those! I mastered my life and suddenly you are telling me you know more than the years I have known myself?"

He let a sardonic chuckle. "How about the years you didn't know what was your life? Don't you just remember yourself being 10?"

In disturbance and annoyance of how he is right, I braved myself enough and removed Akin's shoe to throw at his ridiculing expression.

And I am not at all guilty anymore watching him fall as it strongly landed on his forehead.

"How can I go down now?" I tattled in my position when minutes passed, and it is only his unending fall that I am catching.

On another note, I realized it was nice seeing an arrogant fall because of his arrogance.

Gosh, I should have targeted him in the mouth.

Hence it only took a minute before all of my body hair rose when despite the distance, I saw him stretch his arms for a yawn before he blurred at my sight!

"Aren't you too selfish for only minding your situation?" a voice resonated.

The jump scare made me follow his falling as I slipped on the tree trunk!

All the majestic sights played like a fast-paced movie before my eyes.

I am very near to passing out when a dark figure emerged in all the bright colors, and with it is a fictional speed and undefiable glory. And again... I am on a nerving discovery that vampires indeed can move the way they desire to get what they want.

"Catch up with you," he declared arrogantly, already celebrating the drop beside me.

What a vampire.
