Who said that during these seven years, Erlang never tried to take a step? Who said if he never looked for traces of the lover he had hurt? The fact is quite the opposite.
There wasn't a second that I didn't think about Maura Magen, even when I was down. Erlang kept looking for him, all the time. Although there was never any news about the woman, it was as if her figure being swallowed by the earth brought with her the bitter memories of seven years ago.
