As Y/N, Delilah, Kenny and Karen made their way outside in search for Kenny's house. The gymnasium was full of loud teens shooting over eachother. Some on their phones while trying to reach out to family, while others were in sheer panic. Some people look traumatized as they were nearly killed or watched someone be killed horrifically. The smallest source of light coming from the emergency lights we're the only way anyone could see anything at this point.
The crazy thing was there were no teachers.. just students. It was as if the teachers didn't make it or something. The gym was so loud it was nearly impossible for one person to grab everyone's attention. That's when someone found a hidden megaphone in the supply room and stepped up to on the bleachers. Turning the loudspeaker and hitting the loud siren button caused everyone to yell out while covering their ears. He turned the siren off and spoke up. "Now that everyone has their attention up here, we need to remain calm and come up with a plan." This was coming from the calmest student in the whole building.
"How can we stay calm?! Our families are out there with those things!" A lower-class man yelled out in the audience, which causes a bunch to shout, "yeah."
The one behind the megaphone kept a calm collected mind as he spoke up again, "I understand, but if we don't remain calm then we might be next. They are attracted to sound. So the fact that you all are screaming over one another they're probably pressed up against the outside door at this very moment."
"How do you know all of this?! What makes you think we will listen to you? Aren't you the kid that gets detention every day?!" A junior yelled out.
He let out a sigh as he couldn't find the right words to convince them however, he knew what he was talking about. He was the one that saw how they were acting outside. It was clear the noise grabbed that's crazy man's attention and attacked Bebe. He didn't have time to defend himself before someone backed him up and stood up on the bottom bleacher.
"Just because Craig had detention every day doesn't mean he can't be trusted. You have to believe us when we say we've seen some crazy shit in the past. If I learned anything, he is the one that I would trust the most out of anyone in this town."
Craig looked down and saw Clyde was the one that spoke up. This caused a few in the audience to agree with him.
"Yeah, Craig maybe be known as the bad kid in school but you all don't know him as we do. He always has a reason for his actions. If I'd have to choose anyone to guide us in the right path it would be him for sure." Token said while standing on the bleachers next to Clyde.
Craig was relieved to see his friends back him up. Then he locked eyes on Tweek and Jimmy in the audience. Tweek was still traumatized while Jimmy raised his crutch and spoke up next. "Y-Yeah, I ag-gree with T-Token and Clyde on t-this one."
Everyone seemed to look around for any people that were opposing the idea. The lower classmen remain quiet as they looked up at the raven boy with the megaphone.
"Alright. Does anyone have a plan?" He asked.
Seeing one hand up, he pointed at the one who stepped up to the bleacher next to him.
"It's obvious it's something airborne. Whatever is out there has contaminated the school. As long as we are in here we are safe, however, eventually, we need to get out of here at some point. The chestrisy lab has respirators, whoever volunteers to go outside MUST wear one and hope this is a fungus or a particle in the air instead of a virus. The only way of being sure is testing it out ourselves."
"So you're telling us that one of us has to leave this room and risk their lives to get a freaking respirator from the chemistry lab?" A sophomore asked.
The boy nodded and placed his hands in his jacket pocket. "I'll be the one to do it."
This caused everyone's eyes to grow wide.
"W-Wait no Kyle you're not going!" Stan yelled in defense.
"It was my crazy idea, how can I ask anyone to do something that crazy?"
"If you're going, I am too!" Stan said.
"No Stan! You can't!" Wendy said while latching onto his arm.
"It's okay Stan. If I'd trust anyone it would be you to help Craig guide the students on the right path. You should stay here."
"But.."
Stan was cut off by Cartman. "Woah Woah Woah, who's to say your the one out there and being Mr. Big Shot?"
Kyle's head throbbed as he looked at his friend, not in the mood to pick up a fight. "Cartman! Don't do this right now!"
Everyone was surprised to hear what the bigger Senior had to say to this. "Alright, and what happens when you get your head smashed in like Bebe? If anyone is going to go, it's me." He yelled out loud.
Everyone was shocked by his statement, even Kyle couldn't seem to speak as Cartman pushed through the crowd and made his way to the double doors leading out to the school hallway.
It took a good two seconds to realize he wasn't kidding when he unlocked the padlock on the door.
"Cartman wait! You can't go alone. I'll come with." Kyle said while jumping off the bleacher and quickly made his way to the bigger teen.
Kyle still couldn't believe that Cartman was going through with this to make sure Kyle didn't get hurt. Of course, the moment was turned in a total 180 when Cartman commented, "don't think I'm doing this for you Kyle, I'd rather look back on this time when I was the knight in shining armor instead of letting a Jew do all the work. I mean really, a Jew being the hero? What kinda fairy tale bullshit story is that?!" He said while obnoxiously laughing.
Kyle growled while landing a solid punch on Cartman's arm. "You couldn't have just been nice just one-time fat ass?!"
____________
As the two went out in the hallway, they steered clear of any open windows as that was the only clue they had to cause these people to act out.
As the boys were making their way to the chestrisy lab, the two nearly lost their footing as something exploded up ahead. The two ran to the classroom as they know noticed the door was off the door hinge white foam was running down. The moment the two looked inside the room they both covered their nose and mouth when they smelled something off. The two see the window is busted open with several dead bodies inside with white foam all over the room. Kyle was the first to step in as he heard someone softly cursing to themself in the room.
"Cartman, grab the respirators. Someone's in here, I'm going to check and see if they're okay." Kyle said while still hiding his face in his jacket knowing the harmful substance was in the air.
Cartman did the same as he grabbed as many masks as he could and threw them out in the hallway. Kyle noticed the soft voice came to a stop. When he peeked past a desk, his heart nearly jolted out of his chest when he saw a girl with a bloody eye and a gun aiming at his face.
He immediately held his hands up in defense. "Woah don't shoot. I'm not one of them I swear."
He noticed that her hands were shaking and the blood seeping from her eye was fresh. He could see her tears were fresh as well as if she just got hurt. "Hey... It's okay. We can help you, just come with us." Kyle said with his hand coming down toward her.
That's when he noticed a girl behind her, she looked terrified as she curled up in a ball underneath a table. She had her hands cupped over her nose and mouth as she was trying not to breathe in
"Come on Kyle we got the masks, let's get out of here," Cartman said while at the entrance.
Kyle looked back at the girls, "you'll be safe in the gym, trust me. We barricaded it in there so no one can come in from outside. We will keep you safe. You have to trust us." Kyle said ignoring the fact the gun was still aiming at him.
"Jess.. we should listen to him." The brunette muffled through her hands.
It was throwing Kyle off that the redhead didn't have anything covering her mouth and she seemed fine.
Letting out a shaky sigh, there was a subtle clip as she turns on the safety and placed it in her pocket.
Kyle couldn't look away from her eye as it was bleeding out. He didn't know what happened but it was clear she needed immediate attention. He tried helping her up as she seemed to be struggling on the ground but she glared at him causing him to back away. She was very intimidating and her bloody eye didn't help. She didn't seem to mind with the brunette helped her up and approached her face. Brushing her bangs out of her face she saw her eye was backed out completely with small chunks of flesh showing all on the right side of her face.
"I told you not to shoot the fire extinguisher. Why don't you ever listen to me, Jess." The brunette lightly scolded the redhead while looking at Kyle afterward. "You said we are going to the gym?" She softly asked.
"Yeah but I think she needs to go to the nurse or somewhere with a first aid kit."
The redhead immediately shot down the idea and pushed the brunette off to the side. "I'm fine.. all I need is some fucking privacy." She said while making her way out of the room.
"Wait Jess you really shouldn't.." the brunette tried making her way to the door but not before Kyle stopped her.
"I don't think your friend is okay."
She looked back with near tears. "I know.. that's why I'm scared for her. She's not acting at all the same as she once was.."
"Cartman.. can you take this girl to the gym? I'll meet you with the masks in a moment."
"What are you going to do?" Cartman asked while grabbing a few masks from the ground.
Letting out a sigh, Kyle grabbed the first thing he could find being a pencil off the desk. "Don't worry about it.. I'll knock three times to say it's me. Alright?"
Cartman refused to pressure Kyle into saying the fact he might have to kill a student. For all they knew she was turning into one of them.
Kyle made his way down the hall in search for the girl when he heard heavy crying coming from the ladies' restroom. It felt weird for him to do it but now was not the time to back out of ending someones suffering no matter the location. Pushing the door open without a single noise, he snuck into the bathroom and saw the girl in the mirror with her flashlight on her phone shining on her face. The image was horrifying as she was messing with her eye.
Hearing her softly curse, he tightened his grip on the sharp pencil as he got closer behind her. Seeing something move behind her from the reflection of the mirror, she grabbed the pistol and cocked the clip back aiming at his face again. It was clear she would kill him without a second thought.
"Your turning into one of them.. you know it too don't you?"
"What the fuck do you mean?" She hissed.
"You're seeing things differently, more violent, acting without thinking.. this isn't the real you, is it?"
She remained quiet as she placed her finger over the trigger even though the safety was still on.
"Let me end your suffering." He said while coming closer.
She grits her teeth while choking up on her tears and suddenly fell to her knees.
"Do it.. kill me.. I hurt too many people. But they were trying to hurt Ivy. I was just trying to protect her so I shot the fire extinguisher and the explosion caused some white foam to get on my eye and face.. it hurts so bad.. I can't see out of my right eye."
Kyle was a bit confused as he understood it wasn't cus she was infected that her eye was bleeding but it didn't answer why she can breathe in the contaminated air all around them without spitting up blood.
"But before you kill me.. can I please do one thing before?" She asked while grabbing something from out of her pocket. Seeing her place something in her mouth and lighting a lighter near it. Kyle immediately smelled marijuana as she blew smoke out in what seemed like a relief.
"Fuck... That's just what I needed." She said while leaning her back against the wall.
Kyle could tell she was calming down a bit which made him start to think maybe she doesn't need to get killed. Maybe she's the answer to finding out a cure for this virus.
"Alright.. if you want to finish this joint for me after you kill me that fine. Not like I'll be using it." She said while handing the stick to him.
"I don't think that's necessary."
She looked at him confused as he dropped the pencil and held out his hand. "Are you feeling better?" He simply asked.
"Yeah.. I feel great. Why do you ask?"
"Why don't you go to the gym with me? Maybe we can fix up your eye"
"Really? That would be great." She said while grabbing his hand.
As he took her to the gym he couldn't help but think to himself. 'what the fuck just happened?'
