Michael
He couldn't stop thinking about her. Ever since the night that he was on the verge of kissing her and losing his grip on his human self, she appeared in every dream he had. Never had a girl had an effect on him that much. It was always the other way around. All the girls swooning over him. This feeling was so foreign to him that for the first time in his life, Michael Greymund felt afraid. What if he fell for her?
"Please Michael, you know how much I love dancing. Please just do it for me." One thing he hated other than weakness and trust before knowing a person was dancing.
In his family, only his mother could dance. She was a dancing teacher who performed for their father in a business party where he met her. His brother, his father and himself suck at dancing, but even when he fell on his butt when he was twelve years old didn't demotivate his mother to give up.
"Mom, you know that I can't," he said only to earn a frown from her.
"Well, if you can't learn from me, you'll learn it from Alexa," she said.
"What the freaking hell! No way I am going to ask her to teach me a stupid dance and how are you so sure that she can dance?"
"Because she danced with me the other day when you went to meet your dad and I already asked her and she agreed too enthusiastically," she said, her eyes shining with amusement.
"Oh god, why are you torturing me?"
"Because the other day when you had gone to a run, she has seen you Michael and this is the punishment that came to my mind. She's still not ready to know about our kind. What if she saw you shifting?"
Change of mind, I hate her now, he thought.
"Not my fault she decided to look out of the window," he grumbled.
"What if she'd seen you?"
"We'd have to tell her the truth." With that said he exited the room.
How long would they have to keep it a secret from her?
Alexa
"So, mom told me that you agreed," he said, frowning.
She had gone to see Michael to give him his food in his garage where she found herself surrounded by a bunch of tall, muscular men. What's with this neighbourhood and its handsome guys?
"Yeah," she said.
"Hello, sweetie," said a blonde-haired dude named Ray, while the others chuckled, "What made you work for this stupid?"
He ducked as Michael swung his fist at him. "So, our long-lost idiot is taking dancing lessons from you, sweetheart?" said Stephen, while the others roared.
"Mike gets a dance lesson!" They chanted as Michael threw curses at them. She couldn't help the smile forming on her lips. "That's why we love you mother, best punishment ever," said Chris.
She looked at them with a questioning look on her face, but they only smirked.
It was the first time she saw the garage for real. There were four guys working for Michael, all of them his closest friends since kindergarten. They all had the kind of attractiveness that was too much for a human to have, but Michael overruled them all.
It was a big one flat with the door opened to the main road, where Michael first saw her. The guys were covered with grease, as they stared at her when she first arrived.
"Man, you never told us that you were in a relationship," said the biggest guy, Rick. She blushed and turned to glare at him but she couldn't even look at him for five seconds without hurting her neck. "Shut the hell up Rick, she's not my girlfriend!" He snapped.
"I knew you had a thing for shorties," said Rick.
"Hey I am not short!" she exclaimed.
"Does that mean she's free?" Asked Chris.
Michael glared at him. "Stay away from her."
"What she's hot and if she's not taken - " he faltered as he saw Michael glaring daggers at him.
Alexa blushed, "Guys, I am right here in the room," she said.
"Oh, we are aware. You smell funny," said Stephen, but this time he couldn't jump aside as Michael punched him in the stomach.
"What do you mean? Is it my perfume?" she asked, embarrassed. Firstly, Michael says to look myself in the mirror and now Stephen says that I smell weird, what is wrong with these guys? she thought.
"He meant nothing Alexa. You smell fine to me," said Michael, which earned a lot of hooting from the guys, which made her blush again.
He looked at them and some kind of message passed between them, she didn't know how, but it looked like they had the power of telepathy.
Yeah right, she thought.
Then each of them nodded, grimly and then just as it started, they turned to their usual cheery selves.
"You better eat these before it gets cold," said Alexa.
"Oooohhhh, caring. I like that," said Chris and went back to his work when he saw Michael's thunderous face.
What's that about? It's not like that they were a couple. Why does he act as if I am his? She hated that that thought grew her warm from within.
"Come," he said as he grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her towards the back of the garage. The guys shared themselves a knowing look smiling among each other, just as if they had just shared a private joke and confirmed their suspicion.
"Save some food for us too," called Ray.
"You wait and see whether I will," he called back.
She was surprised what that single touch of his hand did to her. It felt like electricity was going up her arm and a wild sanctuary had broken lose inside her stomach.
He led her through the back door which led to a clearing with a carpet of grass and woods covering the border. She was still uneasy of the woods after she saw that wolf, but she felt safe with him. She internally sighed, pathetic.
They sat on the grass and she looked, a pleased smile on her face, as Michael munched away his dinner.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing," she shrugged.
She looked around, "It's beautiful out here."
He nodded, still looking at her. "So, you up for the challenge?"
"What?"
"To teach me dancing," he said, shyly.
Alexa chuckled to herself, he's shy. Aw.
"I like challenges. But only if you teach me how to ride a bike."
She always wanted to have a bike for herself but her mother never allowed it. In a bike you could feel the wind, the nature around you with no barrier in between. She felt as if she was free.
His mouth dropped open. "You are one tough girl, aren't you Alexa?" he said beyond surprised.
"Thought you knew it the day I came to a town all alone."
"Fair enough," he said smiling.
"So? Deal?"
"Deal," he said and then they shook hands, which caused another round of sparks to go up her arm.
