Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

THUD!!

Hester collapsed, along with Grace's muffled screams. Her body was shaking violently and watching her father die.

The blood seeped out and flooded the brown ceramic that was there. Hester's eyes caught his daughter's figure. As if to tell her that his daughter was in danger, Hester could only open his mouth silently.

"Papi," Grace whispered. She couldn't hold back her tears. She wanted to hug her dad but couldn't. She's only a 10-year-old kid. Fear is the biggest scourge in her life. Fear became the thing she worshiped the most in the world.

"Hester!" a loud voice came from behind the door.

Larina was shocked, seeing her husband lying lifeless. Her dark eyes looked at the man standing in front of her. who remained motionless, pointing a gun at her husband's body.

"What did you do to my husband, sir?!" Larina shouted.

For a moment, the man named Kyle didn't budge. Then, he stared at Larina coldly.

Meanwhile, only Grace who still had consciousness. She quickly got up from her hiding place. Her brain kept interrupting if she had to help her mother before the same fate as her father befall upon her mother.

Slowly, Grace walked into the room. With trembling legs, she began to peek slowly from behind the door.

Her mother's body convulsed. Her eyes widened upwards with extreme pain. Grace saw the gruesome sight with her own eyes.

"Mommy!" Eventually Grace cried. She was watching her mother in the bed.

The heinous man turned around. He was staring intently at the petite 10-year-old girl. He looked surprised, seeing the little girl suddenly there.

"You... you monster!" cried Grace. Grabbed whatever was around her and threw it at Kyle.

Kyle chuckled. After he smirked, he walked over to Grace's tiny body. The body immediately froze. His eyes glazed over at Kyle. There was a wound inflicted by Kyle there, and there was hatred that Kyle planted there.

Grace was silent. She tried to stifle her sobs. Her eyes were only fixed on Kyle, who was now squatting in front of her. There was a terrible rancid smell as Kyle's bloodstained hand raised up. Tilted the mask slightly and made the slash on Kyle's right cheek visible.

Kyle looked at the little girl with interest. Her tiny body in a yellow bikini looks radiant. The little girl's face seemed to attract Kyle's attention. The distinctive beauty of the mixture from the beautiful faces of her parents.

Again, Kyle smirked. Kyle knew the little girl was afraid of him. Her body froze like a lifeless chunk of ice.

2018

"Hey, Grace! Hurry up! Don't you have a job interview in Blackpool this afternoon?"

The man in his 20s yanked his sister's blanket, who was still too lazy to get out of bed.

This morning, he started his first day of winter. And, London is going to be a pretty awful place for the next few months.

Korvin reached for his coat. He sat on the dining chair in silence. He rolled his face back to see his older sister, who was still rolling the blanket behind him.

Again, Korvin exhaled. White steam comes out of it. He looked at the glass window in front of his tiny house. People were already going around their business outside. While constantly trying to ward off the cold with their coats.

Mrs. Gard—his new neighbor, had already taken his beloved dog out for a walk.

"Grace... look, what time is it? I'm hungry!" growled Korvin at last.

The figure that Grace had mentioned appeared. She took a seat, then rubbed her eyes. Her red hair is messy. Her white midriff showed as she lifted her tight t-shirt.

"You should be able to make it yourself, Korvy! I even left some bread on the table last night," said the gray-eyed woman.

She sat down, grabbed the hot chocolate Korvin had just made, then glanced at her brother.

He was silent, neither commenting nor yelling at Grace—her older sister. He didn't want Grace's beautiful face to be frustrated again. Grace's beautiful gray eyes died again.

Yes... this is how things go now. In the past, indeed, the Hester family could be said to be a wealthy family. The Hesters own several businesses and establishments in London. But unfortunately, after a terrible incident at Blackpool 13 years ago, the lives of two children who were initially adequate became a mess.

Korvin was waiting for Grace wearily on the dock. However, Grace did not appear there. Until finally, with a shred of courage, Korvin returned to the resort. He was looking for the whereabouts of his older sister and parents.

But unfortunately, his attempt to return to the resort ended up for the worse. Many police officers arrived, along with several ambulances.

Grace was seen standing with a blank stare. She was holding the hand of a policewoman who covered her bloody body. Her eyes revealed a severe trauma.

As Korvin approached. He was wide-eyed, seeing his parents, who had passed away. He immediately hugged Grace. However, his older sister didn't return the gesture.

Until the time the two returned to London. Grace must be treated so that her mental state, which was shaken by the tragic event, can gradually recover. Even so, Korvin knew that trauma still lingered in his older sister's mind. But at least, he had gotten his older sister's smile back. He had brought his sister's life back. Despite all that difficulties, the price is worth it.

"I'm a man, you know? I'm not a woman who was in charge of making food!" Korvin shouted disapprovingly.

Grace puffed out her cheeks. They turned her gaze to the tiny house that she had lived in for 13 years. An old dining table that blends into the small kitchen. Along with the two old beds where she shared with her brother—Korvin.

There is only one wall in this tiny house. The partition that separates the living room and everything behind it. Grace sighed again, and she had to work if she wanted to enjoy the warm winter with Korvin.

"I'll make you something, alright? Calm down."

"And hurry before that old geezer Egerton fires me, Grace!"

Grace chuckled at Korvin's exclamation. Her younger brother has been working at Egerton's place for three years. The owner of a cafe is at a crossroads in the district where she lives.

The bald man is known to be quite a chatterbox, which is why for almost three years Korvin has worked, he always comes home angry.

"If you don't like it, you can find another job, Korvy."
