Hello to whoever reads this.
Welcome to my story and you should know that this story isn't going to begin with a badass scenario of our female lead Nessa fighting off the evil men or she bumping into the boy of her dream - totally clichΓ© - and not yet by the way.Β
Rather it began with them moving their asses to this new town on this fateful bright morning with lots of sun and lack of cloud - trust me, this is not a vampire story.Β Now enjoy.

With that disappointed look on her mother's face, Nessa didn't need to guess twice that man wasn't coming. And by "that man" she meant her father, total douche - you get the point now.Β
"He's not going to make it, is he?" She asked.
Her mom shook her head slowly, yet grinned sheepishly at her to conceal her gloomy look, "I guess, it's me and you guys"Β
"Yeah, as usual," Nessa sassed, "You know what, we are better off without him," she said mentally before the woman gives her the signature ten thousand watt glare.Β
A look at Nessa and one would think she was sullen but inwardly, the girl was giddy in spirit. That man wasn't going to come?! Hallelujah, this calls for a celebration! But she had to keep a straight face so her mom doesn't see through her deception and think she was happy over her letdown.
"Well," she attempted to brighten her mother's mood, pointing at the structure in front of them "On the bright side, we got to live in this aesthetically fascinating house"Β
Nessa pointed to the classic single-story bungalow set within a lawned garden. The five-bedroom offers spacious, comfortable living accommodation for the family of four- dad excluded. The old man did a good thing by going all out in designing the five bedrooms, four bathrooms, living room and kitchen, porch, and the open parking space.
It had a polycarbonate roof, doors, windows: the big main door had glass windows on each side adding sophistication to its facade. Natural light brightened the whole house since it had easier infiltration due to the way it was constructed.Β
There were several modern bungalow-style houses in the area but none were as attractive as theirs. They weren't exactly upper class but her parents had decent jobs and it was that same career that kept their father far from them - how thankful.
They had moved out of their old city because this was their father's first owned property, so they had no choice but to reside here. Nessa knew how many liters of tears she had cried while bidding good-bye to her childhood friends at the airport, creating an opportunity for her brother Adrian to label her a "crybaby" - all because of that man.
Honestly, she had never been close with that man, in fact, she could count the number of times she had seen him in a year, and each time he did return, he managed to suck away all of the pleasant air in the house. It was simply torturing to have him around.
He was tyrannical; always throwing orders in that booming, authoritative voice of his as if he were a commando. And did she forget to add how mingling he was in their life? Always making choices for them, claiming to know what's best and he had this sheer dislike for her- yep, his daughter.
Thanks to his constant berating, it made the girl question their blood relation. It was a difficult mission, but she managed to retrieve his hair that she used to do a DNA test which came out positive. To be truthful, Nessa wasn't actually thrilled to know she was his daughter.Β
At the least, if it had turned out negative, it would have given her the initiative to search for her super-rich mommy and be treated like a princess - yeah, wishful thinking. Welcome back to reality.
Over the years, Nessa had learned to stop expecting he would change and come to like her overnight. It was time to face reality, he didn't care for her and she didn't give a damn either. He preferred her brothers - Adrain and Rex - to her. Males were more beneficial to him, so he claims with his old nonsensical stereotypical view.
All those while, being away from the so-called father who surprisingly still funds her education amid his dislike of her, exterminated any trace of a paternal bond between both. Now, he was just that man to her.
"Nessa!" Screamed Rex, her ten-year-old brother, "Charlie's eating my coat again!"Β
Ugh! Not now, Nessa sighed. What if her future crush was watching, this would be so embarrassing. With no other choice, she dropped her bag on the lawn and went to help out the poor boy struggling with the dog over his coat while her mom worked on unlocking the entrance door.Β
Charlie is a golden retriever owned by her mother and stands between twenty-three and twenty-four in height at the withers. He has a lustrous light gold coat, feathering on the back of his forelegs and heavier feathering on the front of his neck, back of his thigh, and the bottom of his tail.
Unfortunately, as pretty as the dog was, he had an odd behavior: he liked chewing anything ranging from paper to fabric; none of their clothes were safe with him around.Β
Nessa loved the dog but that strange behavior puts her off. She couldn't remember the number of times Charlie had gotten her in trouble in school because he had chewed or covered her assignments and projects in his drool.
"Stop it, Charlie," she crouched, pulling the dog away from the hem of Rex's coat.
He barked in protest.
"I know you value your chewing but this is a new city, you've got to have β¦.what do they even call it?"Β
"Decency" Adrian, her brother added from nowhere which made her lift her brow at him.
"Or perhaps, you could have been a doll and helped Rex out in the first place" she shot at him, annoyed.
"Sorry, I could have," he said, adjusting his selfie stick, "But this handsome face can't wait to be captured on Facebook"
Nessa mocked the egoistic asshole of a brother by making a gagging gesture but he was far too immersed in taking selfies to notice it. And yes, this was her narcissistic jerk of a brother. Anything other than his face and appearance was of less importance to him.Β
Charlie whimpered, drawing her attention.Β
"Yeah, I know it's going to be hard but I can't have you embarrassing me in front of my new friends - if I make one"Β hopefully, the people here like her more than they did at her old place.
Charlie licked her face.
She smiled, giving the dog a good scratch at the back of his ear, "Yeah buddy, I knew you were going to understand me" and no, she can't hear animal thoughts - that would be crazy neither was she ready to be labeled as a freak.Β
The dog purred from delight before trotting away to Rex who gave it a cautious stare before lifting him from the ground.
"Oww, you're so good with animals which could only mean one thing," Said Adrian retracting his selfie stick.Β
"What?" Nessa never expected anything meaningful coming from her brother's mouth but she was curious about what he had to say this time.
He looked her in the face saying, " It means since you're not academically bright, you can be a zookeeper," He laughed and took off before she could tackle him and beat his soul out of his body.
"Alright, you kids get your lazy asses inside right now!" Her mom ordered from inside the house.
Yeah, welcome to her crazy family.
