In the dimly lit room, the air was still, and the only sound that permeated the silence was the gentle rise and fall of Alexa's chest as she lay unconscious on the bed. Ayden had carefully carried her there after he had drawn blood from her,he watches over her to help her recover. He watched over her, his features a mixture of concern and caution.
Throughout the night, he had kept a close eye on Alexa, ensuring her comfort and well-being. The moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over her features as she slept peacefully. Ayden's gaze never wavered, his thoughts a whirlwind of emotions.
As dawn approached, Alexa stirred, her eyelashes fluttering as she slowly regained consciousness. The events leading up to this moment were foggy in her mind, like a distant dream. She blinked, trying to focus on her surroundings. The sight of Ayden's worried expression greeted her as her senses sharpened.
"You're awake," Ayden's voice was a gentle murmur, his concern evident.
Alexa attempted to sit up, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over her. Ayden quickly moved to assist her, propping up the pillows behind her. "Take it easy," he advised, his hands steadying her.
Her gaze met his, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice weak.
He nodded, offering her a glass of water from the bedside table. She took a few sips, the cool liquid soothing her dry throat. As she felt her strength returning, she managed to ask, "How long was I out?"
"Most of the night," Ayden replied, his tone reassuring. "You needed the rest."
Alexa's brows furrowed slightly as she recalled the events leading up to her unconsciousness. "You took care of me?"
A faint smile graced Ayden's lips. "Yes, I did."
I am also to blame as I nearly drained your blood from your body, he added.
She couldn't help but feel touched by his concern. Ayden, who often exuded an air of enigmatic aloofness, had spent the night by her side, ensuring her well-being. It was a side of him she hadn't expected to see.
As Alexa's strength continued to return, she shifted her gaze towards the window, noticing the soft light of dawn beginning to filter through. She turned back to Ayden, her expression thoughtful. "How are you doing?" she asked, surprising even herself with the question.
Ayden's eyes widened for a moment, taken aback by the unexpected inquiry. His composure quickly returned, and he offered a small, appreciative smile. "I appreciate your concern, Alexa. But right now, the focus is on you."
Alexa's lips curved into a faint smile. "I know, but you were the one who helped me through the night. It's only fair that I ask."
Ayden's gaze held a mixture of emotions as he looked at her. "I'm doing fine," he said, his tone sincere. "Thank you for asking."
In that moment, the air between them seemed to shift. There was an unspoken connection, a bond formed through the events of the night. Alexa's concern had breached Ayden's usual walls, revealing a deeper layer of their relationship.
As the morning light continued to fill the room, Alexa realized that sometimes, unexpected moments of vulnerability could bring people closer. She settled back against the pillows, a sense of comfort enveloping her as she exchanged a knowing smile with Ayden. In the midst of uncertainty, their connection had grown stronger, forged through a night of unexpected concern and care.
Soon after she feel asleep again due to exhaustion and he didn't disturb her and just watched over her as she slept.
When she woke up,he had already prepared breakfast for her thou it was already late morning, she hadn't recovered completely but she could do somethings herself, she ate breakfast quietly while deep in thought, when she was done she entered the bathroom to take care of herself and as she entered the room she saw a white t-shirt on the bed with a short, she smiled gently before dressing up and blow drying her hair.
While drying her hair she could see a glimpse of her neck, she traced it with her fingers and could still clearly see the two fangs bite mark on her neck,it didn't hurt as much anymore.
When she was done blow drying her hair, she stepped out of the room and saw Ayden walking towards her.
Why did you leave the room?,he asked her.
I feel better now,I don't want to stay chopped up in a room, she said but he was quick to object.
You can't be,you need to rest so you can get strength,am not hearing anything else common let's hoy,he said and he took her to the room and she couldn't say anything so she went with him.
He made her stay on the bed while he sat opposite her and she looked hesitant like she wanted to say something but didn't know how to say it.
Umm... Ayden,he said softly and he turned to look at her.
I just wanted to confirm....that day at the umm..the gala, you were there right, she asked trying to confirm.
He cocked his brows as he stared at her"why",he asked.
Well umm..u see that day we had dinner and you asked me out..if am not wrong, she said again but wasn't staring at her at all.
He smiled already getting what she was trying to say but tried to act dumb.
Yeah,we had dinner but I don't remember me asking you out,he said in a very convincing time that she was thinking if she was actually wrong about everything that happened that night.
Ohh..ok am feeling sleepy, she said and was about to lie down when he pulled her by her hand and brought her closer to him so she was seating on his lap.
Due to their closeness she blushed hard and stared at the pillow instead of him.
