Kiara nodded, her expression composed. "Yeah, Mom, everything's fine. Just a lot on my mind, you know?"
Her mother smiled knowingly, placing a reassuring hand on Kiara's. "I understand. You can always talk to me if you need to."
Touched by her mother's unwavering support, Kiara managed a genuine smile. "Thanks, Mom. I appreciate that."
They continued their meal in comfortable silence, the connection between mother and daughter unbreakable. Kiara's heart was still brimming with the secrets of a magical world, but she knew that she couldn't confide in her mother concerning the matter about the immortal world.
As the afternoon sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the room, Kiara felt a sense of tranquility settle over her. The events of the day had been extraordinary, but the simple moments at home were just as precious. With a contented sigh, she looked forward to the rest of the day, embracing the beauty of both the ordinary and the extraordinary in her life.
Later that evening her mom came to her room with a piece of paper.
What is that mom?,she was curious.
Spencer dropped by,he asked to give you this, her mom hand and handed her the paper.
Thanks mom,she said to her mom as she left the room, she opened the paper and saw the words time table in it, under was a small handwriting that read"you weren't around a few days so I got your time table for you, make sure to read for the exam"signed Spencer.
What,it was already exam period, she said unsure.
Alexa's heart raced as she held the crumpled piece of paper her mother had handed her. Her eyes widened as she saw the bold letters across the top: "Examination Time Table." She had been so engrossed in her day-to-day activities that she had completely forgotten about the approaching exams.
Shock coursed through her as she scanned the dates and subjects listed on the paper. How had the time passed so quickly? The exams were just around the corner, and she felt unprepared, caught off guard by the sudden reality that she had to face.
In her state of disbelief, Alexa's fingers trembled as she fumbled for her phone. She dialed Spencer's number, her heart pounding as she waited for him to answer. After a few tense rings, he finally picked up.
"Hey, Alexa," his voice sounded cheerful on the other end.
"Spencer," she began, her voice wavering with a mixture of surprise and worry, "did you give me this exam time table?"
There was a pause before Spencer replied, "Yeah, I did. Your mom said you hadn't seen it yet."
Alexa's mind raced as she tried to gather her thoughts. She couldn't believe she had been so careless. "Spencer, the exams are in just a few days. I can't believe it's already time."
Spencer chuckled softly. "Time does have a way of sneaking up on us, doesn't it? Have you been studying?"
Alexa hesitated, her voice betraying her guilt. "Yeah, of course. I've been studying."
Spencer's silence on the other end told her he wasn't entirely convinced. "Alexa," he said gently, "honesty is key. If you need help or more time, let me know. We can figure something out together."
She felt a pang of guilt for lying to him, but she wasn't ready to admit her lack of preparation. "No, really, I've got this. Thanks, Spencer."
His voice held a note of concern. "Alright, just make sure you're not overwhelming yourself. Remember, I'm here for you."
As the call ended, Alexa stared at the exam time table again, her mind racing. She knew she couldn't keep up the pretense for long. It was time to buckle down and study, to make the most of the time she had left before the exams.
Over the next few days, Alexa immersed herself in her books, notes, and study guides. The pressure was intense, but she was determined not to let herself down. She reached out to Spencer a couple of times, seeking clarification on certain topics and finding solace in his patient explanations.
As the first exam day approached, Alexa realized the importance of honesty. She called Spencer once again and finally confessed, "Spencer, I haven't been studying as much as I said I was. I'm really nervous and unprepared."
Spencer's response was understanding and supportive. "It's never too late to start. Let's focus on what we can do now. I'll help you review the key concepts, and you'll do your best in the exams. Remember, I believe in you."
With Spencer's encouragement, Alexa faced the exams with a newfound determination. She had learned that admitting her weaknesses and seeking help were signs of strength, not weakness. The exams would still be a challenge, but she was no longer alone in facing them.
Exhaustion weighed heavily on Alexa's shoulders as she trudged her way home after the grueling exam. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, replaying questions, and analyzing her answers. The day had been mentally draining, and all she wanted was a moment of respite. As she walked, her steps seemed to echo the fatigue she felt.
Just as she turned the corner, a familiar figure approached. It was Fred, why did he have to come now. Alexa's heart sank at the sight of him, her mind yearning for solitude rather than conversation. She pasted on a weak smile, bracing herself for the inevitable interaction.
"Hey, Alexa!" Fred greeted, stepping into her path.
"Hey," she managed, her voice soft and weary.
How did the exam go?,he asked.
Did this guy really forget how he cheated on her and how indifferent he behaved, why was he walking to her now,she thought inwardly still keeping her pace.
It went ok...,but I really need rest, maybe we'll talk another time, she told him and proceeded to walk faster.
He easily caught up with her saying"Alexa I never got the chance to ask for your forgiveness,I know you are angry with me,I was stupid and undeserving,I didn't mean to hurt you really,he said and she finally stopped.
I know I was not the best boyfriend and and am sorry I cheated on you and you found me in such unfavorable state with someone else,he added and she turned to look at him.
All this time...,did you really like me,or you were just doing it for our parents,Alexa asked as she was now staring at him.
I..I didn't mean to,I really do like you buy I can't devote my self to one relationship,he said and she scoffed.
Was he really telling me that he said w playboy, she thought and rolled her eyes.
It's fine btw,am over it and it's okay,I didn't appreciate you playing with my emotions but it's in the past, she said and he nodded understanding.
I'll take my leave now,she added and walked away leaving him there.
She couldn't still be mad at him after all ,her breaking up with him brought Ayden to her, infact she should be great ful instead of holding a grudge.
In the quiet of her own thoughts, Alexa found solace. Her home was now just around the corner, and she looked forward to finally finding the rest she so desperately craved.
