He's here! Wait, why am I so shocked? We're in the same grade. We're going to have some classes together. But I couldn't help the skip in my step when I saw him. Thank goodness I came in last. There were only two open seats left, and one of them was next to him. His blue eyes caught mine, and I looked away. I brushed the stray hair back behind my ear again, even though it was perfect the way it was. I took a seat next to him.
"Hello," I said quietly, "Fancy seeing you here, in a place like this." He chuckled under his breath. The teacher started class as soon as I sat down.
"Come here often?" He said, pretending to flirt, and I couldn't help the giggle that escaped my lips. I did a playful "Shh" and held a finger to my lips, and pretended to pay attention to whatever the teacher was droning on about. First day introduction stuff, blah blah blah. She ended up finishing with her lecture about the plans for the year with five minutes left, and let us have a little free time before the final bell. I decided I liked her. Adrian turned to me and started with the questions.
"Where did you move here from?" He asked.
"New York," I replied.
"Oh really? Where in New York?"
"Buffalo, actually," I stated.
"Why'd you move here? Pennsylvania isn't as interesting as New York. Especially this part," He laughed.
"Um," I started, trying to find a quick answer to that. I couldn't. "It's a long, boring story." By this time, there was only about a minute left until the bell.
"I'd like to hear it," Adrian said, glancing at the time, "Do you want to hang out sometime? I can't tonight but possibly tomorrow? After school?" He looked hopeful, but also there was a warning in his eyes, it looked like some part of him wanted me to say no.
"Sure," I said. I probably just imagined it, "After school tomorrow it is."
