Jules and I got off the bus and headed to our lockers together. I grabbed my stuff for my first couple of classes and she grabbed hers, and I wished her good luck. She was about to say something to me but she looked behind me and her eyes got wide.
"See ya later!" She said, smiling, and ran off to her next class. I turned around and Adrian was already there.
"Can I walk you to class?" He asked. Again, his eyes told me to run, and this time my dream from last night popped up into my head. I ignored a shiver that ran down my spine, and replied with a "Sure." On the way there, I started asking questions.
"Why are there so many kids living with you?" I asked. I'm not one to beat around the bush, if I have something to say I'm going to say it. He looked surprised at my directness.
"Um," he started, "Well, we're all kind of part of this group."
"A group? I might need some more clarification than that." I said with a chuckle.
"It's more like a group home, but our parents are still mostly around. We don't really come from bad backgrounds and we're not really bad kids, our parents just aren't around all that much at this point of our lives." He said. I could tell he was holding something back, but I wasn't going to push it. I respected what he told me and if he was going to hold something back that was his decision.
"That must be hard," I said. I was about to say more, but he turned his attention back to me.
"You said you were going to tell me why you moved here?" He asked. Damn, this guy really didn't forget anything. But we were already at our class, and I told him that I'd tell him all about it when we hung out after school.
