Chapter 10 - Adrian

As soon as I dropped them off, I stuffed Kylie's number into my pocket and drove home. And as soon as I got home, I was bombarded by the other pack members about this "New Girl." "Is she the one?" "Who is she?" "Where's she from?" "Is she in the know?" "She can't be in the know." "Is she your mate?" I was sick of the questions as soon as I heard them. I wasn't going to answer any of them because some of them even I didn't know.

"Go get ready!" I shouted. They all shut up and left the room. Except for Clara. No matter how many times I've rejected her, she keeps trying.

"Poor thing," she said, "You look like a lovesick puppy. I can help you take your mind off her," she said, running a hand up my back. I turned around.

"Go. Get. Ready." I said through clenched teeth. "Now."

"Fine," She said with a sigh, "When she rejects you, you know where I'll be." She flipped her brown hair and walked off.

"Never gonna happen, Clara," I said dismissively.

I got ready myself, we all put on the ceremonial paint and got undressed in the old horse stables. I thought to Shadow, Okay, no thoughts about Kylie while you're in control. He started whining. None! They'll hear about it and I don't want any trouble or drama. For her sake, I pleaded with him. He agreed. I started letting Shadow have more and more control over my body, until I shifted into him. Now I was in the background. My wolf was bigger than all the rest of my pack, jet black, and fierce looking. In reality, Shadow was a giant puppy. Shadow walked out, and was the first one to the field. The others came out shortly after. Their thoughts were jumbled with excitement, they started eyeing up their partners, and lined up on either side, with Shadow in the middle. He was the referee. Looking through the eyes of my wolf was liberating, and feeling the power of his strong legs was freeing. Alright, he thought to the others, Red team goes first. He passed the ball to the team on his right. Begin! The three wolves started kicking the ball to the other side, passing it back and forth and maneuvering through the Blue team. One of them kicked it through the legs of the wolf at the goal, and right into the net. One point for Red Team! Wolf soccer was the best.
