As Will continued to sit there, the pearl white mist in the air grew ever more dense.
At this point, the man covered in burns was visibly shaking, but he had directly been told by his superior to go into the white mist, and that there might even be some benefits to going into it.
With these reasons, there was no reason to disagree, but he was the only one who actually knew how terrifying the red mist was. It had deeply burned him, going all the way down to bone. It wasn't just a surface wound like it seemed to be. Every inch of his body was in agonizing pain and felt as if he was being dipped in a vat of acid.
At this point, he was so scared that he was visibly trembling and shaking. However, he still continued forward towards the cloud of white mist.
As he stepped in, he unexpectedly felt nothing, but this didn't last long before he was assaulted by a vitality so strong that it seemed to be the root of all life.
When this intense vitality came in contact with his body, it quickly healed everything that was damaged, leaving him feeling even better than before. However, as soon as he was fully healed, the pearl white mist simply disappeared, leaving the man confused.
When he looked up, he saw that Will was now standing in front of him with a smile on his face. Seeing that smile, he couldn't help but be disappointed. That pearl white qi was so helpful that it healed him in an instant. If he could even absorb a little bit of that energy, it would probably be greatly helpful to his cultivation.
Now that the man had been healed, Will suddenly expanded his wings fully, leaving everyone astonished at his 10 foot wingspan. He now seemed to be intimidating beyond compare to them, as if one move of his could end them all. Then, he neatly folded them behind him and walked back into the carriage, where he wrapped himself up in his wings and went to sleep.
After this odd scene, Old Man Dai thought to himself, 'not only is this kid extremely dangerous, he's also quite weird. He made that big scene simply to go back in the carriage to sleep?'
"Everyone get some sleep. We have a day of traveling ahead of us. I'll deal with the boy," Said Old Man Dai to the soldiers. He said it in a steady tone to help give them confidence in him and keep them calm. They had been through much scarier things than this, so they all trusted in their leader and went into the many tents.
Despite the fact that Old Man Dai had said that he would deal with Will, when he got into the carriage, he said nothing and simply sat there for a while before coming out and going into the tent set up for him. He did this because he knew that Will already knew what he wanted to say to him, and that the reason this incident even happened was because Will had never done it before.

In the morning, Will woke up, but he continued to stay wrapped in his wings inside the carriage.
Since he couldn't cultivate in the carriage or out of it, he decided to delve further into the ruby heart manual. He had barely managed to scratch the surface of it, and it even seemed to have many levels to it that were locked. Of these levels, he had only unlocked part of the first level. On each level, there was only one word written. However, Will could only read the first level currently, which said "Hope"
Hope was simple yet complex. Every 'living' being had it, yet it could not be described as something that everyone had. Those with the most hope would find a way to overcome any situation, while those completely void of hope would suffer in agony worse than death.
You could live with barely any emotion at all, but no matter what, you had to have hope. Otherwise, you couldn't really be considered 'alive,' and instead be considered a living husk. The absence of hope would be considered despair, which could drive even the most determined person to become a empty shell, with no emotion and no drive.
The moment someone gave in to despair could be considered the moment they truly died, whether their body was still alive or not. An example of this was when Will gave in to despair and nearly died because of it.
Based on these reasons, Will came to the profound conclusion that it was simply impossible to exist without hope, and if you controlled hope, you controlled life and death.

As Will was lying in the carriage, the carriage had now begun to move once again towards the kingdom. He continued comprehending while wrapped in his wings and the soldiers continued their steady march, stopping for the night and eating, sleeping, eating, and continuing onward.
This continued for about a week.
Since it had been a whole week now, Will decided to end his comprehension of the ruby heart manual and watch his way into the city.
Seeing that Will had unwrapped himself from his wings, Old Man Dai spoke up saying, "We will be there shortly."
As he said that, Will looked out the window, only to see that there were many carriages around him, all heading in the same direction.
Ahead of them were great walls, made of flamy red bricks. In the center of the wall was a massive entrance accepting the carriages and people from the road.
This was the entrance to the Scorching Sun kingdom.
