Chapter 25 - Too much

Nel stopped a bit surprised at her remark, "I was just flustered because it has been a long time since I saw something like that. With the lights and everything" he tried to defend himself.

"I didn't ask for an excuse, I just wanted you to shut up" she snapped before facing Oliver "and you, mister student didn't I tell you to pull the tank?" Oliver sat frozen unable to understand her.

"Isn't that what I said? Why did you raise it? Don't you know that listening to instructions is an essential part of learning? If you keep using your powers on impulse you won't be able to control it" she paused for a while and thought if her scolding was too much.

Everywhere was quiet and even Nel seemed to understand her point so she decided to continue. "You are very talented that is why you need to be more conscious of your powers. If what you did was to wish the tank could move, very soon everything you wish for will start happening even if you have no intention to. You don't want to imagine how scary that would be. That is why you have to focus on how you'll complete your task instead of how it is going to finish. You understood me right?" she asked.

Oliver looked at her for a while before nodding. "That is good, you should get some rest now it is late" she said patting his shoulder.

He stood up and went upstairs while Nel waited patiently before talking "You really know how to turn an achievement to a mistake. Is this something you learned or were you born that way". She stared at him as if thinking of what to say before shaking her head and leaving him alone. "What is with her? Say whatever you have to say!!" he shouted angrily.

Hilde packed up her back while preparing to go to work before remembering about the glass bead.

She removed it from her drawer and took a look at it, 'should I just leave it?' she was about to put it back in before she remembered what he said. She narrowed her eyes on the bead while tapping it "he sounded so serious, let me just take it" she said before putting it in her bag. "I might be late" she hurriedly rushed out before remembering she didn't drive her car home. "Ahhh damn it"

Hilde saw Helen waiting in front of the office building for her. She was surprised and quickly ran to meet her. "Why did you take a taxi? What happened to your car?" Helen asked before she could say anything. "Look at who's asking were you standing here waiting for me?"

"Yes, actually I wanted you to come with me" she said. Hilde watched her and tried to think of what her friend could be up to. "Are you going somewhere?" she asked.

"I actually bought coffee for our new boss, you know just to thank him for yesterday" she said and Hilde sighed. She already knew what her friend was trying to do. "Didn't you tell him 'thank you' yesterday, why do you have to do this again?"

"Do you have to ask so many questions, just follow me okay. He helped the both of us so we have to show him we are grateful so that we would be able to atleast have a good start with him", said Helen making her smile before entering with her.

They ran into him as soon as they entered. "Good morning sir, we were just about to come to your office" Helen said. He looked suprised and took a quick glance at Hilde before speaking. "Really, I hope nothing is wrong?" he asked nervously.

Helen laughed briefly before shaking her head "No, we actually wanted to thank you for yesterday and we thought we could buy you a cup of coffee or something" she said and gave it to him. Hilde shook her head while watching her and just waited for everything to end. Surprisingly, he kept glancing at her severally which made her a bit nervous.

Did she put on a lot of make-up? Or maybe he couldn't handle eye-contact around women' she thought.

He collected the coffee before smiling "You don't have to worry about it. I think I'll collect this though and consider it a birthday present" he said. Helen and Hilde looked at each other confused. "It has been a long time since I received a birthday present, thank you" he paused for a while before he continued "Tell your team there will be a meeting this afternoon, have a nice day". He took his leave while they both stood still frozen.

Helen finally broke the silence "What just happened? Today was his birthday, if I had known I would have gotten something else" she said frowning her face and stamping her feet on the ground. "He said that this was the first gift he had collected in a while, he must be very lonely. I guess you left the impression you wanted to leave after all"
