Hilde walked towards her car after work, She was about to open the door when she saw Hyde in the parking lot.
"Is this a coincidence or were you waiting for me?" she asked trying to hide her surprise.
"I have something to say, let's talk on our way to the arsenal" he said entering his car and she followed him in. He drove quietly and Hilde kept looking at him confused. Unable to hold the suspense she decided to talk first "You said you had something to say".
"Did you still have the glass bead Nessa used in communicating with you?" he asked.
"Why are you suddenly asking about that?"
"Because you need it, always make sure you are with it every time" he said
"Why? I don't understand is there a reason why I need to carry it around?" Hyde looked at her frustrated,
"Why do you ask so much questions? There's no hassle in carrying it with you", he said.
"What do you mean no hassle, don't you know how weird I would look if I go around with that? You have to give me a reason at least".
"Do you really want to know the reason?" he asked. "Of course, go on", she replied
"Okay then. It is because of some creatures that were recently discovered. They existed before but they just resurfaced now. They can easily identity people who are Oceanides whether they are using their powers or weapons and they attack them brutally" he said and turned towards her but was shocked to see her expression.
She didn't seem to believe him "they are very dangerous and..." he was saying before she interrupted him. "It's okay, you don't have to try so hard. I won't believe you anyway" .
"Just take it out with you" he said.
"And what? Is it going to chase away the evil spirits or something" she asked mockingly. Hyde was unamused by her remarks and kept a straight face.
"There are no evil spirits and if you really think I'm joking or you want to know what they are like feel free to go around without it, I won't be responsible for anything that happens to you because of your stubbornness not felt uncomfortable with the silence
"Are we going for the training now? Isn't it too early?" she asked.
"Didn't you want to learn how to use your powers?" he replied making her confused. "You said I couldn't use it because it'll harm other people" she was slightly raising her voice.
"Yes I really said that" Hyde said as if recollecting something.
"Wait... I don't get you first you said it was very strange that I could use it and even concluded that it was harmful how could you even forget something that important and dangerous"
"It is really dangerous however, the water in the glass bead has a neutralizing effect on the walkers so when they see it they would try to escape first" he said. Hilde looked at him a bit puzzled before realizing what he was talking about.
"Are you a sort of faulty search engine or something, you're answering a question I asked you before we even started this powers conversation. I had almost even forgotten about that", she said.
"It hasn't even been up to ten minutes since you asked and yet you've almost forgotten, I guess your memory isn't that good after all for a member of the trios" he said
Hilde wanted to say something but decided to just keep quiet or else he would keep making fun of her.
"I'm going to assess your skills today, so that I can know if you can start something else" he said making her turn amazed. "Are you going to fight me yourself?" . Hyde scoffed at this and smiled
"I don't have to do that myself"
Oliver rushed to Nel's house after he was done with all his lectures for the day. He had seen a lot of Nel calls with even an emergency message which made him wondered if something went wrong. He entered and saw Nel standing at the front of the door with Edna beside him.
"Did something happen?" he asked walking closer to them. Nel turned and upon seeing Oliver started talking a bit loudly "I called you severally, why didn't you pick up? Do you know how dangerous it is for you to be out there especially after we saw those walkers yesterday?" he shouted.
"Why don't you calm down? He obviously had no idea, and isn't he back safe?" Edna retorted upon seeing how angry he was. Nel exhaled severally trying to calm himself.
"So your name is Oliver?" she asked facing him. Oliver hesitated for a while before nodding. "What about you?" he asked.
"I can tell you my name but you mustn't call me by it. Why? Because I'm older than you obviously" she said.
"Then what is he supposed to call you? Big Sis?" Nel asked slowly recovering his humour, however Edna looked unamused. "There's nothing bad in master, so he can refer to me as that since I'm going to be training him" she said.
"Do you want to be called a master that badly? Unbelievable! You're trying hard". Nel said letting out a brief chuckle.
Oliver couldn't believe what they were saying, they had totally dropped him off the conversation even though he was the subject matter. "Wait!" he said a little bit louder than he had intended, but it had a nice effect since they both gave him all their attention.
"I don't understand what is going on, yesterday Nel didn't tell me anything about you and it wasn't until we got to the waterfall that I had a hint of what is happening. Secondly, why would you train me? Nel agreed to help me out, not find me a teacher" he said.
Edna looked at Nel questioningly which made him give an uncomfortable smile.
"Let me explain, I actually asked for assistance because..... well, training is not my thing and Edna is really good...." he was saying before she interrupted him.
"Are you admitting that I'm better than you?
By the way, under what division of the oceanides are you in?" she asked Oliver. He stared at her, very confused before Nel stepped in.
"He just recently found out that he's among us". Now it was her turn to be confused.
"Are you saying he escaped before he could even know his identity?!" she said and Nel realised he hadn't even been curious about it.
"That isn't even possible, how old could he have been then?"
