Fungus Beasts are pretty much described by their name. Their bodies are made of deadwood and hardened Fungus. They aren't fast by any means necessary, and they can't get around very well. For what they lack in speed, they make up for in durability and attack power. They vary in height, normally between 8 and 12 feet tall, and have a giant mushroom for its head.
Long and sharp branches stick out of its body for extra defense, and if you're a player or NPC that uses close-quarters attacks, you're going to suffer fighting Fungus Beasts. Their arms are powerful and heavy, and the legs of a Fungus Beast are one of the strongest parts of its body. Chopping down the large monster should be your last option.
My thoughts are halted as I feel the warm heat of Libertas's sun on my body. It's a pleasant sensation, and this marks the start of my hunt. Getting them drawn to me as fast as possible seems like the best idea going forward. I use Dark Burst multiple times in different directions, wiping out long pathways of trees. It shouldn't take long now.
There is a light thumping and rumble through the deeper part of the woods. A Fungus Beast is already on its way here. My Mana is slowly regenerating as I stare in the direction of the Fungus Beast, and I see the charging body of the monster coming through the woods. An intense aura is around the beast, and I'm already sending Black Spears its direction.
It's tanking them, but after the 5th one, it falls to the ground and creates a long crater, and stops at my feet. It dissolves away, and I look for the item I'm after. It's called Fungus Supercell. Despite how badly I want it to drop the first time, nothing so fortunate happens to me. At least I got 10 EXP towards my Player Level and 10 EXP towards Black Spear.
There's no sense in waiting any longer... I'll mix it up a bit and use Dread Wave this time. The attack launches from my body, and trees in all directions are devoured, along with the ground. I stand on a pillar made of dirt and stone as the crater around me is shown as the Darkness recedes back into me. This attack is far more devastating to the environment.
There are several rumbles and thumps coming from multiple directions. The pillar made of dirt and rock crumbles at the movement. 11 Different Fungus Beasts are quickly approaching from all directions. They're closing in fast, and using Dread Wave a second time doesn't seem like a bad idea. The attack consumes the monsters, leaving only their drops behind.
I take some time looking for the Fungus Supercell, but none of these sons of bitches dropped what I'm looking for. This is going to be a long and grueling process. "Time to go deeper into the forest, since this part is now completely gone. I make my way of the crater and towards the woods that Dread Wave didn't reach. Hopefully, this doesn't take all day.
The EXP will be fantastic. I already got another 30 EXP towards my Player Level. Another 30 towards Dread Wave, so this isn't a complete waste of time. The part about playing a video game like this, you have to do the unpleasant grind to enjoy the pleasant fun. This is a grind, and I'm going to make the best of it. My last option, really...

My contacts have no idea where I can start looking for The Darkness Incarnate. However, one of the seers from the Church of Fate has told me that their God, Xurmelosis, has told them that The Darkness Incarnate is in the Eastern part of the Termal Empire. "Time to contact my party members. We have a place to search now." This is the first good news I've heard since The Darkness Incarnate was revealed.
