Chereads / The Libertas Dive / Chapter 46 - Hunting Fungus Beasts II

Chapter 46 - Hunting Fungus Beasts II

~~~(POV: Feroxes Iremon, level 880 Exotic Grade Adventurer, Class Grade: Exotic)~~~
~~~(Class Name: Emissary of Cerxoes, God of Metals)~~~

~~~(Location: Merchant City of Lerosso, Northern part of the Termal Empire, Adventurers Guild Branch)~~~
~~~(Date February 14th, 2297)~~~

~~~(Time: 6:55 AM)~~~
My party should be getting here before 8:00 AM, and they'll likely resent me for a time. Taking on a quest this dangerous isn't something that should be a single man's decision, but I didn't want to waste any time. The Darkness Incarnate is a threat that can't go unchecked, that can wander and gain strength. If he does, nothing will stop it.
Getting to him now, while he's weak, is the only real option we have. Being a player or not, there is a permanent way to get rid of him. Banning crystal, a powerful item that only the strongest of the Adventurers Guild gets to carry around. It allows us to permanently ban any player, no matter how strong they are or how important they are.
As an NPC, I'm doing this for the greater good of Libertas, and Arch-Duke Frasier Barxoes is paying my party and me an insane amount of gold to get this done, so it's not like they'll be going unrewarded. "Hopefully, you all get here fast. I feel like every moment wasted is another The Darkness Incarnate it gaining power." Facing such an existence... I'll admit, I'm afraid...
~~~(POV: Lyatt Scott)~~~

~~~(Location: Western Forest, About 4 hours away from Kedwein)~~~
~~~(Date February 14th, 2297)~~~

~~~(Time: 9:45 AM)~~~
The number of Fungus Beasts I've killed makes me think I'm never getting the Fungus Supercell. The only good thing I'm getting from all of this is EXP. I've gained 45 EXP towards my Player Level and 50 EXP towards all my combat skills. I'm now level 12, and my skill is getting stronger. As their strength grows, so does their demand for mana.
I've gained 40 gold pieces randomly dropping from the Fungus Beasts, which isn't uncommon, and at least I'm getting something of value to drop. Crafting weapons and armor won't become valuable until I make them at least level 5. After that, I can enchant any armor or weapon I make with a Mana or Health boost. Enchanting will unlock automatically once one reaches level 5.
Speaking of Mana, I'll need to hit another important dungeon with some gear that'll bolster my Mana and Health. It's a hidden dungeon and one that anyone can enter once found. It has a level 15 restriction, though, so I'll need to grind before getting access to it. From what I remember, it's called Eloise's Nightmare. Quite the nasty one, but a bonus reward for the first clear will make the rewards even better from the droppable's.
My thoughts are interrupted by several Fungus Beasts charging at me from multiple directions. I quickly dispatch them with Dread Wave and gain another 10 EXP towards it. It's quickly becoming my favorite attack. My player level also gets 10 EXP towards it for killing all the Fungus Beasts. My eyes look at the corpses, and I see a glowing blue item, indicating Rare Grade drop. I use Scan on it.
[Fungus Supercell]
[Details: An important ingredient in many different Mana and Health restoration potions. They're also used by churches in their special seer potions. Their seers use them to help see visions more clearly from their Gods. That's why the prices are so high for said ingredient.]
[Worth: 600 Gold]
[Grade: Rare]
[Item type: Alchemy Ingredient]
[Warning: Quest Item. Cannot use or sell, must return to quest giver]
It's finally fucking dropped! After clearing a few miles of the forest, I've finally gotten a Fungus Beast to drop a Fungus Supercell! "This has been way more tedious and time-consuming than I ever wanted to tolerate!!" I knew it would take this long, but I never wanted to tolerate how long it would take. I'm glad it's finally over, and I can head back to Kedwein.
I place the ingredient in my Inventory, and it sits with the rest of my stuff in the Inventory Tab. I pull out my Travelers Compass, and I immediately select Kedwein, and in a flash of light, I'm transported back to the city. I exit the Teleportation Gate, where the Travelers Compass let me out. Tesha, here I come! I'm excited to learn all you can teach me!
