Chapter 36 - Battle with the Nature Avatar I

~~~(POV: Lyatt Scott)~~~
~~~(Location: Boss Room of The Crystalline Caves of Domeir)~~~

~~~(Date February 12th, 2297)~~~
~~~(Time: 10:38 PM)~~~

This will be the first time I fight a Nature Avatar, and I might even have a conversation with it. The Boss is within my line of sight, meditating by the looks of it. The features on Nature Avatars vary from each one since they're so unique. This one has a humanoid body but is much larger. When it's standing, it's probably going to be about 11 feet tall or more.

Its body is made out of stone, mud, some old branches, and superhot crystals native to the dungeon. I slowly make any approach, remaining cautious in my mind. Being confident on the outside. This could go many ways. "Hold, Creature..." The Nature Avatar speaks, and true to the lore is has two voices. One female and one man.

They don't have genders, and why they have two voices is beyond me. Nothing about their known lore explains it. My advances stop, and the Nature Avatar stands up. It's a tall 15 or 16 feet and surpasses my expectations for its height. "You're not human... On the surface and skin deep, you look like an average mortal man, but beneath... Darkness..." The tones of the two voices are eerie.

They have different cadences, and one if full of fear, and the other is full of caution. "You haven't used Scan on me... Are you scared of what you might see?" My Class causes different reactions that are different depending on the person or creature. Most of the time, it's fear and desperation. This is what Devin had to go through all the time. It's both good and bad.

The face of the Nature Avatar can't really be called a face since it's almost featureless. It has some sort of wooden and stone crown above its head, formed from its natural body. "You're a thing... Not a creature... Why have you come to this place!!" The room shakes, and the two voices yell and scream, demanding an explanation.

This conversation isn't going to be the least bit enlightening. I might as well get this fight on the road. "I'm here to be the first to clear this dungeon, and kill you, of course." The Nature Avatar throws up its hands, and sharp branches come out of the front at speeds I can't dodge. I use Black Shield, and the damage is negated.

The room opens up even more as the Nature Avatar screams. The size of the boss room has expanded to have plenty of room in all directions for the massive body of the Nature Avatar. Before it can launch another attack, I leap away and create distance between us since the room is even bigger now. I don't want to fight this thing up close.

Black Spear and Dark Vines will be my best friend in the encounter, and since the system has adjusted the difficulty for the dungeon to be more challenging for me, the health of the Nature Avatar is way higher than it should be for a Rare Grade Dungeon. "You are an abomination!! Something that shouldn't exist or walk the face of Libertas!!" It's a chatty one, and loud too.

I use Black Spear and Dark Vines as I move around and away from the Nature Avatar. It's quick to break out of the Dark Vines every time I catch it, but the real problem is it's dodging the Black Spears. Using stone from the ground and ceiling to use as a natural defense. It's breaking through and doing damage, but it's getting debuffed.

Nature Avatars have the ability to use the environment around them at the cost of no mana. Meaning this fighting is about endurance, and my mana isn't limitless. I have enough to finish this fight, but I can't waste any attacks. It leaps to the ceiling and twists its body. In the blink of an eye, it's almost bringing its long branch hands through my chest.

I barely use Black Shield in time, and I'm sent flying away, and I roll across the ground. There is no time to waste sitting here, so I stand up and look my eyes on the creature. It launches at me again, and this time I use Dark Burst and Dread Wave at the same time. My left index finger forms a Jet Black ball and I launch in tandem with Dread Wave towards the Nature Avatar.
