Chapter 57 - Chapter 57

Where June took team 11 was a large open field, the field was clearly recently made because it was possible to see the holes where tree stumps were removed from. The field had other mage teams who had arrived much earlier when compared to team 11.

"Recruits, just find a place to seat and rest your body and mind."

June ordered with a serious voice, that was normally not found from her. June's face was marred with severity.

"2nd lieutenant Marion aren't we going to make a camp?"

Ross asked with a look of curiosity because he could see hundreds of other tents where mage teams could be found, June just glanced at him for a second.

"No we don't. We won't be staying in this camp for a long time. It would be best if you just did what they are doing."

June glanced at Grey and the military Academy recruits who had gone into meditation session. Grey could guess what was going to happen after Percival was welcome by 2nd Lt Julian Vik and brought to the main command centre.

Grey had noticed that it was not only Percival being taken to the command centre, when he listened to the shouting with tier 1 spell [Wind Listen], he could hear that regular troop commanders and other mage team leaders were also being summoned.

The battle was about to start.

This revelation made him glance at his team members and try and estimate their chances of survival.

'Those two girls might not make it with their attitude of focusing on Lt Elrod, if they could get a little bit serious they might not immediately get killed.'

'Mountain and Louis might survive with their team work, but if one was to get incapacitated, their overall chances would drop to the normal survival chances of military recruits.'

'The two lieutenants, if they don't meet a tier 3 mage or a monster tier 2 mage, then they might survive. Given that they don't make what could be considered a stupid mistake.'

'Hart, Nordeck and Bon have normal military recruit chances of survival, Bon slightly more due to his talent.'

'Myself? If I don't meet a tier 3 mage, with my trump cards I can keep a tier 2 mage at bay and escape destruction.'

Grey was being objective from what information he had collected about his team members in the time they had spent together, he stopped thinking about their chances of survival and went back to meditating.

"Commander. Most of the mage team leaders have arrived, only those ones who are coming from military camps that are much further away from the north are late."

A female adjutant reported to the commander of Forward Operating Base number 03. The adjutant was a tier 2 mage with 1st lieutenant badges.

"I understand Narah. Let me see the document."

The commander was asking for the document with the information about the teams that had arrived in the camp, the teams that had arrived included new teams made out of completely new recruits and other teams which have older members who are experienced.

The teams meant both the mage teams and the regular troops, as stated, normal civilians had also been newly recruited to join the war, thus the regular troops also had new teams and older teams.

The commander of the camp was a female Captain, she was not the only tier 3 mage in the camp. However she was the most talented and had the best ability in leading military affairs thus she was the one made to be in charge.

The tier 3 mages in the camp included military tier 3 mages and civilian tier 3 mages who got recruited by the military. It was not only the tier 1 mage civilians who were recruited, even tier 3 mage civilians were recruited.

If these tier 3 mage civilians performed very well during the campaign, they could get military merits and get a chance to exchange for something in the military's vault.

"Narah let them come in."

After the commander's order the adjutant allowed the summoned people into the command centre. The command centre started to get filled in by people, it was not long until the command centre was completely full of people.

1st Lt Percival Elrod was amongst the people who were coming into the command centre. Lt Julian Vik did not have the qualifications to enter into the meeting, he only left him with other people who were summoned into the command centre.

The female commanding officer took a long look at the people in front of her in the command centre. There were 1st Lt mage team leaders, there were regular troop commanders and there were the other tier 3 mages as well.

As the commander was observing them, they too were observing her, the commander looked to be in her thirties with black long hair tied in a single professional pony tail, she also had deep blue eyes. The commander could be considered to be pleasing to the eyes.

"I will not waste more time, let's get started."

The commander felt that they had observed each other for long enough and some preliminary thoughts on each other's personality had been judged.

"I am Captain Hadley April and I am the one in charge of this little establishment."

There was a severity and serious look in her face which made her very charming to the males in the room, who does not like the serious type of woman, but the males all hid their feelings deep inside.

"The commander of our forces, Major Alexandria Wells, has sent orders to all the FOBs. She is ordering all of us to immediately start the campaign, military command does not want to give those fellows from Ruhen any breathing space."

The commander took a pause to capture the looks on her people, the military trained people were clearly keeping a control of their emotions, however some civilian tier 3 mage recruits were clearly not happy.

'These fellows just wanted to stay in the camp and use the magic crystals that we give them, well I guess it is to be expected from people who have never ever joined a war.'

Commander Hadley April thought as she continued to speak.

"To the mage team leaders who have just arrived and have not gotten time to rest, I will not apologise. We are soldiers, the schedule can get crazy, I hope you understand."

Percival and the other mage team leaders just nodded in understanding, no one commented otherwise.

"We, together with FOB no. 4 will be responsible for this entire left wing. The defence line on this side will be under our responsibility. Commander Alexandria Well wants the entire first defence line to be gone in two weeks. We are going to be very hard on them from the start."

There were looks of shock in the people in the command centre, that meant that the battle would have to be very fast. The result of that was that the casualties were going to be high, because in such situations where speed is the priority, death and injury is the direct result.

Commander April did not comment of their looks of shocks she just continued giving her orders with the document that detailed her forces.

Commander Hadley April detailed her strategy to the regular troop commanders and the mage team leaders because they would make the bulk of their fighting forces whilst the tier 3 mages would be there to fight enemy tier 3 mages.

The people in the command centre listened to her orders for an entire hour until she was done.

"I will not give you a great speech to start the campaign. I don't have that ability, you can do it yourself when you talk to your direct subordinates. Anyway, you are all dismissed."

Percival left the command centre with a serious look on his face, he was not the only one, he saw similar looks on the other commanders and mage team leaders. Percival found team 11 after searching for a while, he was happy that they were meditating and look mentally prepared.

"Team 6. Get ready to move out, our orders have been given. Spell speed, move at the speed of the slowest member."
