Chapter 59 - Chapter 59

It did not take long for hundreds of regular human troops to arrive around the meeting point of teams 6 and 9. There was no way the people who were defending point 3-07 would not have seen a convoy of hundreds of people.

However it was not like the forces from Arin were going for a surprise battle, it was going to be a frontal war, especially since they were sieging. The people from Ruhen had know that Arin was starting to move their forces towards the north, thus they too were ready for the storm.

After Percival shouted towards the recruits, the recruits started packing their belongings whilst they were still trying to calm themselves. The commander of the regular human troops came to find Qila and Percival.

"Lieutenants. How do you want to proceed?"

Asked the buff male commander towards Qila and Percival, he was a military man, and did not waste time with unnecessary greetings.

"Commander, you will follow us from behind. If their mages were to target you in an open field, you would have too many casualties."

Percival also did not take offence from this commander's behaviour.

"Let lieutenant Stein's team and my team to capture the attention of their mages first before coming. I don't need to tell you what to do after that, you an experienced commander, you can decide for yourself."

The commander nodded his head, he liked that Percival did want him to go out first. That would let him focus on killing the regular humans without having to worry about the enemy mages.

The commander left afterwards, Qila had not said anything during the conversation as that was what Percival and her had decided.

"Move out! Twenty man defensive formation."

They had decided that Qila would be calling out the orders, thus she shouted with her slightly immature voice that could ne considered cute by a certain type people

"Spell speed!"

The 20 people got together to form their formation, and used normal spells to approach point 3-07.

"Watch out for traps!"

As the people were moving, the people that were put in front were being led by Percival to create a path, they were doing so by getting rid of any possible traps that could have been laid by the enemy.

Military trained recruits were trained to spot such things, especially with their intelligence they easily saw the traps.

It did not take a long time for them to reach near point 3-07, the place could be compared to a fortified bunker position that held mages and regular human troops to defend.

"Switch from Spell speed to running speed!"

Ordered Qila, they would need to start casting other types of spells soon, they were not like Grey who could have two spells at the same time.

Point 3-07 was large fortified position, large enough to fit several hundred people inside with all their suppliers, the people inside the point 3-07 were also ready for defending this place as they saw the team of 20 people charging at their position.

"Incoming!"

Percival shouted as they had a large number of incoming arrows launched by the regular human troops from the arrow towers on the enemy side. Mages could be hit by regular arrows if they did not put up proper defences, and the salvo that was incoming had hundreds of arrows.

"Magic shields!"

Ordered Qila as she heard Percival.

There were many of defensive spells that were put up by the people who were in the front of the formation, normal spells were enough to counter normal arrows.

At this point Grey finally felt that the war had started, there was a serious glint in his eyes, there was slight murderous aura radiating from him.

Grey had not ever killed a person in both of his lives, but when his intuition told him that his life was in definite risk, he did not hesitate when the order to retaliate came.

"Retaliate! Target those arrow towers! Be careful, enemy mages will be waiting for you to lower your guard!"

Qila shouted with her slightly immature voice, but there was no childishness in her orders to create murder and destruction.

Grey immediately casted his trump card tier 1 Killer Spell [Shooting Star], the tension and the killing intent in the atmosphere made Grey open the battle with one of his most powerful tier 1 spell.

The spell was fully strengthened by 9.3% using the Strengthen Activation on the [Duality Light Enhancer]. The spell was also at the highest limit of what was possible with a tier 1 spell, Grey had spent a long time to develop spell structures for spells that actually reached the limit of what was possible with tier 1 spells.

When the spell was launched, a four pointed star completely made out of concentrated light elements was summoned, Grey targeted one of the towers that was most packed with people, that were giving him the greatest feeling of risk.

BOOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"Ahh!!!..."

The sound of death throes was head as people died in large numbers due to his spell. When the spell was launched it looked exactly like how a shooting star would look like when viewed, it did not take even a second for the spell to hit the targeted arrow tower.

There was a large explosion that followed, there people who were in that tower were completely vaporised by the high scorching heat and explosive power of the spell. The people who were at the rear all looked at Grey is awe and shock, there was some fear in some other people.

'So this is Grey's real strength, so was he playing all this time?'

Bon who was close to Grey could not help but glance at his freaky genius teammate.

Alice was trembling when she felt the highly concentrated light elements that had yet to subside around Grey. The poor Noble girl was reminded of being burnt by the same light elements.

'Damn! I panicked and got caught up in the atmosphere of this place, such that I used one of my trump cards..'

Grey was very annoyed, he just showed off one of his trump cards.

'Hah... I guess it is to be expected from a person who lived in relative safe for most of his previous life suddenly thrown in death situation like this.'

Even when he spent his time in the academy. Grey had never felt that his life was in danger of ending. In all their spars at the academy the recruits there, had no real feelings of wanting to kill each.

Grey took a breath to calm down, and look at things with a more calm eye.

'The enemy mages have not come out, they would want us to reduce some of our mana by killing these regular troops, so they can easily kill us when come out.'

"Recruit Gram conserve your mana!"

Qila shouted to Grey. Grey just nodded his heard in understanding, the spell used a lot of mana, thus he felt that Qila made sense.

"All of you! You must conserve your mana! Our main focus is not to kill regular human troops, their mages will come out in a few soon."

'Our regular troop are just behind us, they will arrive in two minutes at most, the enemy will want to come out before then, so as to focus fire on us with their regular troops.'

Grey was finished calming down, he casted [Giant Light Shield] on himself as he started to cast out single target spells to kill off the regular humans troops rom Ruhen. He casted the shield spell because someone from Qila's team was not careful and was hit by an arrow on the leg.

The poor boy was at the rear where Grey was also located, he was focusing on retaliation and could not put up a defence spell like the people in the front. The fact that the people realised that Grey could double cast made them envious because, it was possible to have a defence type spell whilst using attack spells as well.

If they had that they would not get into a situation where it was possible to get killed by a regular arrow. That was the reason Grey put up his defences instead of completely hoping that the mages in the front would prevent every arrow from hitting the people in the rear.

Now that Grey had calm down, every spell of his was able to kill off a person, he had control over his spells such no spell was wasted. When it was only one minute before the regular troops of Arin arrived to help teams 6 and 9, the mages from point 3-07 came out.

"Be careful!"

Shouted Percival because he could see the incoming mages as they left their fortified position. When Grey also say the enemy, he too understood the reason for Percival warning.

'Damn! The other side has more tier 2 mages.'
