Grey was seating in a tent studying magic and doing magic accumulation at the same time. The rest of team 6 were in their own tents in a camp made inside of FOB number 03.
Grey spent most of his free time doing such a routine, when not doing missions this was his past time. Though his body that was experiencing the full brunt of puberty some times made things difficult for him, and it was not like he would get an escort in the battlefield.
"Team 6, assemble!"
Grey heard Percival shouting outside of the tent, this made Grey to stop his magic study and magic accumulation.
'I guess it another mission to the second defence line.'
Grey internally commented as he left the tent, outside the tent he saw the rest of team 6 leaving their tents. Outside Grey saw the whole team 6's full eight members, after the deaths of Sheryl and Ross the team had not lost any more members.
The other members have somewhat matured, the reason their are not fully matured is because Alice and Grant some times make mistakes.
Alice and Grant try and not make more mistakes especially after learning about the casualties of the civilian recruits. The two finally understood that the military was only using the civilian recruits as cannon fodder in order to lower the casualties of their military academy trained recruits.
Which brought a chill to the two Noble scions.
Percival stood in front with June to address the members of team 6, after everyone came out of their tents.
"Everyone get ready to move out we have a mission."
Percival looked at the faces of the members, from the military academy members Percival observed understanding.
However when he looked at Alice and Grant he saw despair that could not be hidden. Whilst team 6 had not lost anymore members, the civilian members of team 6 always got injuries ranging from massive burns to have limbs being cut off.
'At least they can keep themselves from having worthless deaths.'
Percival internally commented when he observed Alice and Grant, Percival was sad when Sheryl and Ross died, thus he can easily accept his subordinates getting injured when compared to them dying.
"All the mages in the camp who are without missions including the Captain, Hadley April, are being summoned..."
"Sir Elrod why are they for all the mages."
Alice interrupted Percival with some hope that they would not have to go the mission and she would have not deal with the pain of an injury that she was sure that she would get.
"I guess it's ok for me to tell you this."
Percival took a pause to gather the attention of his subordinates towards him.
"The missions that we have been doing in the second defence line have been low priority missions given to all teams like ours, teams made of completely new members and lead by new lieutenants like Lt Marion and myself."
The military trained members nodded their heads in understanding, because they too could feel what they had been doing for a while now was not as important as the work they did in point 3-07.
"Huh…? Low priority? And you all knew and did not tell Grant and myself…?"
'Then why was always getting injured in those low priority missions…?'
Alice complained internally and externally in despair, this was mostly because she had started to develop PTSD because of the war and the general environment.
Whilst such conditions were rare amongst mages due to their high intelligence, but they could still happen if a mage is pressured high enough.
'I might need to give her counselling.'
Percival thought as he looked at Alice, mages trained at military academies were given a lot training, and counselling of subordinates was one of them.
"Recruit Whitlock, don't interrupt."
"I understand Mam."
Alice answered June who was still hard on these civilian members, and no one was thick skinned enough to ask Percival or her the reason.
"The missions that we have been doing have been allowing us to develop team work and gain a lot experience, this included the recruits who were trained in military academies. They too had to gain live combat experience instead of simulations."
Percival continued after Alice and June finished talking.
"The high priority missions has been done using older teams who have high experience. It has been them who have been mostly responsible for taking down defence positions of the second defence line after we took down the entire third defence line."
Grant and Alice who had calmed down nodded in understanding.
"It has been four weeks since the third defence line was taken down in only two weeks. The older teams have been hard at work for four weeks, and now their results are starting to show."
Percival explained with a shine in his eyes, it was possible to see that Percival respected these older teams.
"The second defence line is only left with only three defence positions before we can breach through and attack the final defence line. However the fellows from Ruhen have introduced a powerful artifact that is decimating our regular human troops."
Such a revelation surprised the members of team 6, Ruhen had developed another artifact after developing the [Mana and Magic Linker] artifact.
'This will confirm that Ruhen has a genius in the art of artifact design. I would not be surprise if this person is well hidden. It also confirms that Ruhen has place where they are getting resources to create these artifacts, I'm sure the kingdoms has been searching for the place.'
Grey had a calm face as he thought of this genius from Ruhen and the implications of this new artifact.
"The artifact is called [Explosive Flux Cannon], anyway the name does not matter much, but what is important is that this artifact can launch attacks at the level of tier 1 combination spells. Thus their power is a thorn on military command's side"
'Sir you might not care about the name, but I must say the person who designed he artifact has good naming sense.'
Grey internally thought of the name of the artifact and could already guess how the artifact looks like from its name.
"Because of this, the three positions that are left in the second defence line have not been breached, forcing military command to deploy all of its mages in reserve for the attack on these positions."
"Sir, what is the name of the position that we will be attacking?"
Bon asked in curiosity.
"Position 1-010, Zone 1 of the second defence line and the tenth defence position."
'I have a feeling that this will be a big conflict, only two months after the battle restarted.'
The 14 years and 8 months old Grey internally commented.
