Grey observed the situation in the battle to assess who to assist first in order to maximise the power to their side.
'Lt Stein is still holding on, we can kill a few people in that short period.'
BOOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
That was the sound of a trap put up by Sharon and Ilse which led to them killing one of the enemies who were fighting them.
BOOM! BOOM!
"ALICE!"
That was Grant's voice sounding in the battlefield.
Alice and Grant had been fighting together since the formation broke down, these two had been fending for their lives since then.
The reason they were able to survive longer when compared to Sheryl and Ross was because they had better spells and better knowledge of magic, due to their Noble upbringing.
As Grant was crying to Alice, the poor girl was on the battlefield missing an arm and a leg. Grant was not sure if she was going to survive as she laid there on the battlefield.
Grant and Alice had been fighting two enemy mages, but the two enemy mages were more experienced and had baited Alice and hit her at the same time, destroying her leg and arm.
Grey looked at the battle with an objective view, the military mages that they had on their side were more important to him and going forward.
Bon was currently showing his talent by fighting two people at the same time and not losing, Sharon and Ilse had just killed another enemy with their teamwork, and would kill the other very soon.
The three other military academy recruits from team 9 were fighting 4 enemies at the same time, the three seemed to know each other and would be able to hold on for a long period.
'I guess I will reinforce the civilian recruits.'
Grey gave Sharon and Ilse who were teaming against one enemy member a hand signal. The two had to reinforce what was left from team 9 when they were done with the enemy mage, he would help the civilian recruits.
The two just nodded in understanding as Grey used [Light Flash] to move towards the obviously panicking Grant.
'I am going to die in this dirty place?'
Grant hastily defended against the two who were cornering him as he picked up Alice who laid of the ground. It was a good thing casting did not require the use of hand gestures or anything like that. That meant his arms were free to pick up Alice.
'Why I am even saving you Alice?'
BOOM! BOOM!
Grant asked himself as he retreated under heavy bombardment, as his two enemies chased him. The only thing that kept him alive were his better spells due to his Noble birth and the fact that he had defensive elements.
'"Huh…?"
Grant started to feel dread as he could feel his pursuers starting to accumulate mana at high rates.
'Double combination spells? Can't you just let me run away?'
Grant stared wide eyed as he felt the accumulation of highly pure darkness elements. The two enemies who were chasing him could both use darkness elements.
Grant started to get panicked, and because of that he did not put up any defensive method. Grant could only look in horror as [Giant Corrosion Fireball] and [Cutting Winds Of Decay] targeted him and the fainted Alice he was caring.
'At least I would not feel pain like Alice did when she lost her limbs.'
At his point of death, the stable Grant felt relaxed and without the panic that he had a few seconds ago.
'I never thought I would accept death so easily.'
As Grant was accepting death, his peripheral view picked up on bright spots quickly coming towards the two combination spells that were targeting him.
The speed of the bright spots were very fast, such that after seeing them he could tell that what was coming were giant weapons made out light.
'Ahh… I have been saved. How ironic that I was saved by that fellow.'
Grant again was forgetting that he was in a battlefield, like how he forgot to defend himself due to panicked, he still forget a proper respond to this type of situation.
BOOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
When those giant weapons made of light of the spell [Maximise Multiple Light Weapon Barrage] collided with two spells made out darkness elements, a giant explosion occurred, with shockwaves going to different direction.
It was a good thing that Alice and Grant had ran far away from the main battlefield, or the secondary casualties amongst the regular humans would have been very high if they had been closer.
CRACK. CRACK. CRACK.
"AHH! AHH! FUCK YOU GREY GRAM!"
Shouted Grant he screamed in pain, the explosion had blown him together with Alice a big distance such that he broke several bones, one of his arms was pointing in the wrong direction.
The pain made the normally stable Grant curse in pain to the person he believed saved him. In the end he still felt pain, and unlike Alice who seemed to always faint when facing a lot of pain he did not faint.
"Eh? We could not kill these complete rookies even this situation."
A male commented as he looked at Grey who had just arrived with a careful look.
"It looks like Luna, Peter and Teresa could not finish this fellow."
The male said to his female partner.
"Murray, do you think we can win if we go at him together?"
"Gemma, it is because you played too much such that we did not kill those two rookies. About your question, I don't think so. The fellow can clearly double cast, he is clearly not afraid of fighting the two of us."
Grey looked as these people called Murray and Gemma, he could a threatening aura from them, he too was assessing them.
'The male is calmly assessing me and judging his win rates against me. He did not get panicked after seeing my attack, I like his style.'
"But Murray, if we use our full power we might just be able to kill him."
"Gemma now you see why I am the older brother in this relationship. Looking at him, he is like us, having multiple trumps and hiding some of his strength. I don't want to show off our power just as the battle is starting. We retreat."
"Murray, I understand. Goodbye light user, we will meet later so we can try and kill each other."
Grey looked at the two as they started to retreat, he did not stop them.
'Those two are dangerous, if I were to fight them I would have to use many of my trump cards. I would rather keep my trump cards hidden.'
Sob. Sob. Sob.
Grey stopped thinking about Murray and Gemma, and went to Alice who was closer to him. Alice had been awakened by the collision of the three spells, she was quietly sobbing and trembling whilst looking at her missing limbs.
'It looks like these two survive because their enemies were too much of sadists and wanted to enjoy their pain. They even specifically targeted her limbs so as to see her in pain, what troublesome people'
Grey internally commented after checking Alice's medical condition and administrating First Aid.
Alice looked at Grey's average face as he was administrating First Aid, Grey could not tell what was going on in her mind.
"Gr… Grey… Did… You… save us?"
Alice asked with difficulty.
Grey did not answer her, he left he there and went to check on Grant.
Grant had stopped screaming, but that did not stop tears from streaming out of his eyes due to pain.
Grey did the same First Aid on Grant whilst Grant tried to stop himself from crying due to pain.
The fellow had calmed down enough to understand that it was because he got dazed in the battle such his situation became this way, but he did not apologise for cursing Grey.
The two did not say anything to each other, that was until a signal spell was fired up in the sky signaling a retreat for the mages of Ruhen.
"Grey… Did we win?"
Grant asked with a tremble in his voice, which is uncharacteristic of this stable noble young man.
'The lieutenants came through? I wonder if Lt Stein survived? Legal Lolis are rare.'
Grey thought as he looked at the signal spell.
'Huh...? I guess I have not had sex in a long time, such thoughts are starting to bubble up due to being at this age...'
