Chapter 41 - Chapter 41

In a big throne room full of grandeur with jewels and expensive metal decorations that made the place have a feeling of extreme wealth, there seated a man in the well decorated throne.

The man was 1.8 metres and had a lean build, though it was obvious to see the man took his exercises very importantly. Whilst he was seating on the throne he gave off an oppressive aura that made people bow their heads, not many had the ability to look the man in the eyes.

The man had brown hair with hazel coloured eyes that were very sharp, his eyes seemed like they had the ability to see through anything. The man looked like he was in his forties, if not for his oppressive and sharp eyes he might as well look like a salary man with a few children to support, as his face was very average with a square jawline.

The only thing that stood out was the scar on his eye brow. The scar gave him a male charm, especially with his well built body, he would not have a problem getting a wife a least.

The man was listening to a report from a woman who also looked to be in her forties, the women though had completely white hair. It was possible to see that the woman's original hair colour was not white as some strands of her hair still had some black strands.

The woman was 1.65 metres in height and she had green eyes that seemed to have tons of life experience, the woman had an aura that made her hard to ignore, even though her looks were just slightly average. There were other people in the throne room as well, some were waiting for an audience with man on the throne, and others were just listening to reports.

The people all in the throne room all looked like humans, with human average heights and human average looks. However there was one thing that made the people in the throne room to be different from humans, that was the fact, these people had longer ears with sharp tips.

If Grey was there he would characterise them as elves from the fantasy stories, however unlike those fantasy elves, these ones are just like humans in every way including behaviour, with only the ears being different. They did not have tall heights or very beautiful looks or any of those behaviours said in fantasy stories.

"Your Majesty we have finally investigated the where abouts of the man called Gavin Vermont. The man is from a kingdom in the north, he became famous because it seems the kingdoms of the north are having a war."

The people in the throne room all smiled, they had been looking for this man for a few months now.

"I have already sent spies to the north in order to find out more information about the wars in the north."

"Mm. Our Empire can use a man like Gavin Vermont better, if we introduce him methods, the war can progress more quickly and uniting the south will not be a dream anymore."

The man on the throne commented as he had a look of longing.

"General Hisian, how goes the war in the west…?"

The northern people of the continent of Nuren did not know that they had gotten the attention of the southern countries, the future will tell whether the attention was a good thing or not.

In Grey's study, Grey was reading his deployment order with a serious look in his eyes. The students of Witfield Academy had been waiting for such news ever since they became tier 1 mages, Grey included. Grey had a calm face as he read the orders that were sending him to the battlefield, he had prepared enough and he was not nervous.

[… Mage Army recruit Mr Grey Gram is to report to Camp Herolds to receive his military deployment orders on the day of..]

Grey was aware that the next battle at the Dralia mountain range will be very brutal, even though there had been rumours of Arin and Rawyth having an alliance, those were rumours. The casualties would still be high, especially the tier 1 mages. The tier 1 mages were the cannon fodder amongst the mages in the battle to come.

'I have to survive for at least three years then I will reach tier 2, with the merits that I would have accumulated I will be directly promoted to 1st lieutenant.'

The survival rate amongst the tier 2 mages is much higher when compared to tier 1 mages, thus that was Grey's main goal, reach tier 2.

'I guess it is time to start packing.'

Grey had accumulated lot of things during his stay here at the academy, it was not the same as when he was leaving the orphanage, there would be a lot of things to carry. Grey thought of the 9 years that he spent in the Academy, it would be his first time leaving and going to the outside world, thus he did not hate the idea of leaving the academy.

"General, all the military mage academies have received their orders and have started to send the deployment letters to all their tier 1 mage recruits."

The person who was reporting was a female tier 3 mage, she was the adjutant to General Karl Schneider. The General was currently in military command dealing with the proceedings of the war. The General had a mild temperament and was usually quiet.

The General looked to be in his fifties with his hair still black, his eyes were of the blue colour. The General's mild temperament did not prevent his eyes from having a glint in them, showing how dangerous this man is.

"I understand Claire. You can leave."

The General turned to the person in his office with him as adjutant Claire left.

"Major Alexandria I will be deploying you again as the commander of our forces to retake the crystal lode of Edward's Crevasse, we cannot allow Ruhen to keep mining the lode anymore."

"I will gladly take the role General."

Major Alexandria Wells looked much better than she did after she battle with Major Ken Wright, tier 5 life special affinity mage Gilbert Winter had managed to completely heal her.

"You will be in charge of a larger force, more tier 3 mages will be deployed with you, a tier 4 life special affinity mage will go with you to prevent what happen the last time from occurring."

"I understand general. Sir, what about the royals?"

"The royals will also be under your command, the king had promised me that they would follow your orders. You can treat them like how you will of the mages recruited outside of the military."

The Arin Kingdom had recruited a large number of mages not directly connected with the military, as Arin had multiple academies that allowed people to become mages by not joining the military. The force would replace the mages that died in the first battle of Edward's Crevasse.

"Sir... Are the rumours of us having an alliance with Rawyth just rumours or otherwise."

"Major you should not ask questions that are not meant for you."

The General had an oppressive aura as he said that, his mild temperament was no longer there, but a dangerous tier 7 Arc Mage.

"I apologise General."

Major Well quickly apologised because she knew she had crossed a line that she should have not asked.

"You are dismissed Major."

"Yes Sir."

Major Alexandria Wells left the office with some sweat on her face, the oppressive feeling by the General receded after she left.

'I have been feeling an ominous feeling these past few days, like there is a beast that is observing me. I hope the battle in the mountain range is not the cause because such a battle would not injure the foundation of Arin.'

The foundation of country was not tier 1 or tier 2 mages or even the regular human forces, the foundation of a country were its top tier mages starting from tier 4. Thus even if Major Alexandria Wells and the whole force going to Edward's Crevasse were to die, the country would not be at a risk of complete destruction.

Thus anything that would make the an Arc Mage feel an ominous feeling had to be something with an ability to destroy the country.
