Chapter three
That day I went home early. I found Joselyn on the living room watching a reality show about having babies. I could tell she was not ready to be a mother, there was no time for regrete now, she was reaping what she sow.
When I moved in that flat, it was two months before she was pregnant. She was not the type of relationships. She would invite different men each day, sometimes she did not respect us. We would walk into the living room or kitchen, find them making love.
This was not a good behavior for Mrs. Jang's children to see. Sometimes she would get drunk with her man and wake up in the living room, naked. Her men would even walk around the house naked, searching for their pants, after forgetting were they put them last night.
I tried talking to her about her recent behavior but she used what I said to her, against me. She turned my free lecture into a jock. She told me I was jealous of her, actually she said I envied her life.
"Oh! Who do you think is jealous of you?" I asked angrily.
"You are! You haven't been with a man for more than a year! Don't worry today I will bring, two guys, one for you. I hope it will make you feel better." She offered mockingly.
"No thanks, I will rather die single, than be a prostitute!" I shouted back.
"Who is a prostitute?" She asked as she felt insulted by my statement.
"You are! The only difference is that they don't pay you!" I said as I walked into my room to end the argument. I didn't have the whole day to argue with Joselyn.
Then three months later, I found Joselyn in the toilet seated down on the floor after she had vomited all her breakfast. She was looking tired, I knew something was wrong with her but I didn't think she was pregnant.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I don't think so." She said in a low voice.
"Here take this," I offered her a glass of water.
"Okay," She said, drank the water, she spat it all, rinsing her mouth.
Later that I took her to the hospital. Her doubt was confirmed. She was two weeks pregnant. I bet she did not know the father of the baby. I felt pity for her yet I was glad she had finally got what she wanted. This was a lesson, no God was disciplining her. At last she finally learnt her lesson. I had been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
"Hi Joslyn. What are you watching?" I asked her as I walk towards the sofa.
"It's a show about teenage pregnancy. It makes me feel better. I cant believe very soon I will be a mother?" She said.
"But you are not a teenager," I joked. "Joslyn, have informed your boyfriend about the pregnancy?" I asked, her face turned pale, realizing what I had just done, I tried to change the subject but,
"I'm not sure who the father is?" She responded.
"What are you going to do?" I said looking concerned as I sat next to her.
"I slept with 8 men that week, but five used protection. So I think I have a clue. Lewis, Bruno and Andreas did not use protection." She said with a little hope that she would find the father.
"Are you sure its only those three?" I asked.
"Yeah. The doctor said I was two weeks pregnant so the other guys couldn't make it, I mean I was already pregnant wit either Lewis, Bruno or Andreas' baby." She explain.
I hoped she would find the father of the baby, imagine a child growing up not knowing his dad, when the dead is out there to not knowing he has a child. That was going to be a little complicated.
"I want to tell all of them that I'm pregnant." She said.
"Wait that is not a good idea." I said. I was not sure if I was right or wrong but I wanted to be there for her and support her as much as I could.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"What if they all come, the three of them and say they want to be in their baby's life, and by the way they don't know that this involves three men. You know you can't take a paternity test at the moment because it is very risky for the child." I explain
"Oh look what I have done, I have changed your mood. Why are dressed like this? Are you going somewhere?" She asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah I'm going out with…" I said and I was interrupted by her curiosity before I was done talking.
"With whom? You have finally started dating! I'm happy for you. So who is the lucky guy! What does he look like? Where does he work? Is he handsome-, I'm stupid, of course, he is!" She said as her mood was diverted from sad to happy, or more than that I guess.
"Joslyn, wait. Its not that kind of a date, Its not a date." I tried to clarify it before she got the wrong idea.
"Whatever you may want to call it, but you are going out with a male friend. Look at you! Where do you think you would go looking like this. Lets go to your room change into something better, an I will have to do your hair!" She exclaimed
"Hey! I'm going to be late, I don't have time for all these. I have half an hour left!" I cried.
"Don't worry, it won't be long." She said.
