Silver and Perthan sat together in a secluded room, sitting cross legged facing each other.
"Do you feel any energy coming from within your heart Silver?" asked perthan.
"N-no I don't" he said as he tried to concentrate harder and harder. "No matter how hard I try to feel mana I just can't"
"It's not about trying Silver, it'll take some time before you're used to it. Just take a deep breath and focus" he responded "Let's go over the basics again."
Silver took a deep breath as he impatiently nodded "I already understand it dad. Every human has a mana pocket in their heart that generates its own mana. To cast a spell a mage must extract their mana and use it to draw a magic circle, which is how spells are casted."
His dad got up and patted his son on the shoulder, breaking his concentration. "Very good Silver, you already got the basics down, how about we take a break and pick this back up tomorrow" his dad said. "It'll do you no good if you work yourself up too much."
Silver sighed "Just a little longer please, I think I'm almost there" Silver pleaded.
"Silver I can feel how tense you are, it's best if you take a break. Besides, it's not like your mana is going anywhere" he smiled wide "It'll stipl be there tomorrow."
Silver reluctantly got up "Alright fine, but you promise we're doing this again tomorrow right?"
Silver's dad nodded as they both left the room, Silver returned to his own room, alone, and sat on his bed. He continued trying despite his dad's wishes not to. Hours passed by like this and still no results, but he didn't give up until eventually he ended up passed out on his bed.
--------
Silver stood in the middle of the crowd as torches burned around him in the midst of night. He watched as a familiar back walked up wooden stairs as tears forcefully made their way down his face.
"No no no! Stop!" Silver screamed out towards the man. Yet the man walking up the stairs didn't look back, he just kept walking up the stairs. "You'll die, please don't go!" the words flowed out of Silver, desperately hoping they would reach him.
His vision blurred from the never ending tears until it slowly faded to black.
--------
Silver jerkingly sat up as he held his hands over his eyes. "A-a dream?" he faltered as his reddened eyes watered. "Why is the past haunting me again? Why now?" he said as he got up from bed and wiped his eyes.
"AHHHHHH!"
**CRASH**
Silver heard a woman screaming from deeper inside his house, "What's going on?" silver muttered. It was still late at night so there shouldn't have been much commotion going on within the house. He opened the door and ran towards the direction of the screaming. He saw a maid on the ground trembling in front of broken glass.
Silver's eyes drifted towards where the maid was looking and there was a fire. The door was half burned as the fire quickly spread, leaking into the surrounding rooms.
Silver's eyes glowed a bright orange as he began to freeze up and shake. The bright orange fire looked exactly the same as it did on that fateful day he just dreamt about. Silver's entire body was filled with fear as he collapsed onto the ground. He couldn't take his eyes off the flame, even as they came closer he didn't move an inch.
"Master Silver!" he heard the muffled voice of someone calling out but he couldn't turn his head away from the roaring embers. A lady grabbed his arm and the maid's next to him and dragged them as they quickly stumbled away.
Silver didn't notice any of this though, he was lost in his own mind as the scene from his dream played in his head over and over again.
"Master Silver! Master Silver!" He heard a voice that was becoming more clear. He shook his head and everything around him was dark except his house in the distance, which was covered in fire. He looked up but there were no stars and no signs of the moon, the clouds covered them making the night sky pitch black.
"Master Silver, are you alright?" the maid asked, worried from the lack of response from Silver.
"Ah yes, I'm fine" he gave a half hearted nod as he looked around. There was a crowd of faculty members from the mansion and he even saw Kai as another maid tried comforting the crying child. However there were two people he couldn't find no matter how hard he looked.
"Where's my mommy and daddy?" Silver cried out
"I'm afraid they haven't come out of the mansion yet, but don't worry! Your father is very strong, I'm sure nothing bad will happen to them!" she responded with a confident look on her face.
Silver nodded, he tried to believe her but his heart ached with a bad feeling. He's seen those flames before. They were the type of flames that take would take things away. The type of flame that'll devour everything you have if given the chance.
