Chapter 13 - Seperation (II)

"Are we sure we want to separate the two children?" a man who sat at a round table asked. "It could be advantageous for us to keep Silver. Even if his magic talent is low, he is still the son of Perthan after all, he might become a strong swordsman in the future. There are plenty of martial artists in the world who don't rely on any use of magic."

"That is true but, it's just too much of a risk. Not only that but we don't even have any talented sword teachers, and you've seen how Silver holds onto that sword of his. I have a feeling that'll be the only style of combat he'll be willing to learn" Marshal Howren replied.

"So in the end even if we want to make use of him we still have to send him away huh... "

Marshal Holwren gently nodded his head. "I don't wish to separate the two of them, but keeping Silver in direct contact with someone so important to the kingdom's future can be disastrous. It could even mean the destruction of our kingdom if Silver can influence Kai to do a terrorist organization's bidding" Holwren sighed, crossing his arms. "Is there anyone else left who disagrees?" he asked the eight others in the room.

There was a heavy silence after he asked the question, no one in the room felt the courage to speak. After minutes passed, six out of the eight participants nodded their heads with a barely audible "I agree," the remaining two sat in silence.

"I see, the majority has voted in agreement. We shall start the preparations to relocate Silver to another city starting immediately, and send him off as soon as they're done. Everyone is dismissed" Holwren said as he promptly left the room.

Silver heard heavy footsteps coming from outside their room while he was still playing with Kai. The door swung open revealing three large men stood there. "Silver, please come with us. We have something we'd like to talk to you about."

"Uhm, okay" he said as he got up and took Kai's hand.

"We just need you, Silver. Please leave Kai for the time being" they clarified.

Silver hesitantly shook his head and promptly let go of Kai's small hand and grabbed his sword. He left the room and followed the men, as they soon entered a new room with nothing in it. "What's going on?" he asked.

"Silver, we've been told by some very special people that you're needed in another city for a special mission! Do you think you can do it?" one of the men asked, speaking in an almost childlike voice.

"Leave?! I can't leave my brother behind!" he protested.

"You can come back to see Kai whenever you want!" he replied.

"I won't do it! Unless he comes with me I'm not going anywhere outside this castle!" Silver continued.

"Please just come with us Silver, I don't want to have to do this the hard way."

"I'm not going anywhere" silver growled as he grabbed the sword, which was nearly as big as him, and planted his feet onto the ground.

The men looked at him in surprise. 'Why is a child so willing to fight?'

The one who tried to sway Silver peacefully sighed as mana started emitting from his fingertips. "Are you sure you want to do this? Think about your actions, young man."

Silver didn't let up as his tears forced their ways out of his eyes. "I won't let anyone separate us!" he shouted as he put all of his might into swinging the blade.

The blade whirled forward but the guard standing in front didn't seem worried. He quickly drew a circle with a simple swirl pattern inside, it brought the boy's weapon to a complete stop.

Silver suddenly lost all his strength as his suspended blade fell to the ground. It took everything he had not to lose grip on the sword as he fell to his knees with blurred vision. "No… Stop, d-don't do this…"
