Gwen was looking out the window of Silver and Kai's shared room. Each of them had their own rooms, but Silver would refuse to sleep without Kai.
"Phew, they're finally fell asleep. Where do kids get all this energy from?" she murmured to herself. Gwen quietly left the kids room and softly closed the door as she left.
She walked back to her room and discovered Perthan lying there already under the bedsheets. He had a few papers in his hand with a candle light on his bed stand. She sat down next to him letting out a heavy sigh "You should've talked to me about the sword Perthan, I don't think it was the right thing to do." Neither looked at each other as Perthan stared at the documents and Gwen looked straight ahead.
A few moments passed by with an unbreakable silence, the flame of the candle seemed to scream as it went on. It felt like hours passed by, but it was nothing more than a fleeting moment as Perthan set down his papers onto the night stand.. "You know it has to be done eventually honey. You're aware of the burden put onto our kids as soon as they were born…"
"As much as I don't like to admit it, soon it'll be Kai's turn to follow in my footsteps as well…" he insisted.
Gwen slowly laid down with a grim look on her face as the second hand on the clock ever so slowly ticked away. tick tock tick tock.
"I know but…" she sighed "Does it have to happen so soon? They're just kids, Perthan. Let them have that for a little longer."
Perthan scooted closer to her and held her in her arms "I'd love nothing more than to let them have the childhood of a normal kid, but unfortunately we can't afford that."
Gwen laid there in silence wearing the same grim expression as earlier. She knew what had to be done but she didn't like it. Perthan understanding the situation laid there with her trying to console her, as he slowly drifted off to sleep. Gwen, however, laid awake for hours in his arms unable to sleep, only falling to sleep due to exhaustion and stress hit the best of her.

"Mama wake up!" sounded Silver's voice as Gwen slowly opened her eyes, a bright light suddenly flooding them blinding her momentarily. "O-oh yes Silver? Is something the matter?" she asked.
As her eyes adjusted to the brightness she saw Silver with Perthan standing next to him holding onto a try. She looked to her side and saw Kai laying down next to her, "W-what's going on?" she stammered.
Perthan set down the bed tray on top of Gwen's lap as Silver joined her in bed. "It's breakfast mama!" Silver exclaimed as he hugged her.
Gwen's eyes started to water as she looked down at the tray with breakfast on it. She covered her mouth with her hand and looked up to Perthan "You cooked me breakfast? Since when do you do that" she cried out.
"Ever since I thought the best wife in the world deserves something nice" Perthan said grinning ear to ear. He sat at the foot of the bed "You deserve something done for you every once in a while too you know."
Gwen looked down at the sloppily put together food; there were two eggs that had traces of the shell still left in them and overcooked bacon next to it. She picked up the fork on the tray and started eating them, laughing as she ate.
"What's so funny?!" Perthan asked.
"I think you should leave the cooking to your maid and me… I don't think it's your strong suit" she giggled, but continued eating the last bits of food left on the plate.
"It can't be that bad right? I mean you ate it all didn't you?" he retorted with a stubborn face.
"Haha it is!" She said as her smile grew "It's so bad."
Silver laughed with his mom, "Daddy makes bad food!" joining in with her.
"Hey now you can't gang up on me! This isn't fair!" He started laughing with them. He picked up Silver and put him on his lap. "Come on now it can't be that bad." he said with a smile on his face, refusing to come to terms with his bad cooking skills.
Minutes passed by of the contagious laughter and it didn't seem to die down at all. Even Kai eventually joined in as they all shared this amazing moment.
