Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 (Assisi)

Along came two carriages on the rocky road leading to Assisi,

Everyone looked through the carriage curtains, from afar they discried soldiers guarding the road at some point, they had a huge iron rod stick placed vertically, as a blockage on the road.

They must be frontier soldiers, most of them assumed.

"HAlT" the leader of the soldiers screamed at the approaching horse carriage, Padre stroke his bridle, the horses halted bringing the whole carriages to a stop.

Lorenzo stepped out of the carriage as soon as it stopped.

"We have come on behalf of Giovanni Bianchi, he had a deal with your Governor Massimiliano"

"Where is the package." The soldier yelled, Ignoring the mention of Governor Bianchi's name,

Severus came out of the carriage, he knew he was the package the soldier leader spoke of, the man took a view at Severus, he mowed at his appearance, clothes covered in blood, with strokes of tiger claws abraded on his chest,

"You seem to have encountered some challenges," the leader said and rolled his to view Lorenzo.

"Just minor challenges," said Lorenzo, he let out a gasp and smiled too.

"I wouldn't call a tiger a minor challenge." The leader to Lorenzo.

"Let them in" the leader ordered some soldiers standing beside the barricade, they pushed the vertical iron rods apart, the carriage rode across, a few of the soldiers at the border, escorted Lorenzo to Governor Masimilano's palace.

Firstly, they passed a farm occupying a vast amount of land, before coming into the main city of Assisi, a brick monastery was the first view of the city Severus saw, when that view was taken away, the view of cottages was brought in.

Thousands of cottages were built in the central city, it was where the majority of the people of Assisi lived,

Down the straight roads of Assisi, they could see a road leading up to a hill, on the hill was a solo dome reaching up high in the air, the building in which the dome was attached to couldn't be seen, or else one climbs up the hill, it was where Governor Massimiliano lived, utterly separated from the city centeral.

The people of Assisi crowded near the roads, most were wondering why horse carriages are parading the streets, by the observation of some, those aren't governor Massimiliano's horse carriages.

The wild streets of Assisi were eroded, children filled the Conners of the streets, the youth followed the horse's carriages closely, the elderlies viewed the carriages too but never followed it up once it can longer be seen as far as they could see.

The three-horse carriages rode up the hills, all the youths that tailed on it dispersed.

No one is allowed up the hills, the grumpy soldiers guarding the hills wouldn't resist Wiping children at the back, if they try coming up to the hills, a youth would be thrown into the dungeon if they are found wandering on any area on hills.

"The book of Christianity tells us that our gift shall bring us before great men," Marchisio said to Severus.

Severus gave no reply, neither did he do as though he heard what he said, he stayed stiff, watching what was ahead, after a while, he said "there is a truth in what the book of Christian said."

Marchisio looked at Severus, surprised he finally replied to him.

"Do you believe in God?" Marchisio asked him, keeping a stare at him.

"I did, I barely do now," Severus replied.

"I understand you vir bellica, sometimes he does as if he is not there, even when he is there."

Marchisio said, he kept his face forward, he felt the word wasn't a question and Severus wouldn't reply Anymore.

"If I get to talk to the Lord in person, I would tell him why he made it hard to be human."

His last word brought calmness between him and Marchisio, both of them pondered on Severus's word,

Severus thought - "Of all the hardest things on Earth, non is harder than being human, everything on Earth challenges humanity, nature, weather, circumstances, even our fellow human, only the one who is enthroned above the sky would be able to explain why it the way it is."
