Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 (the conversation)

"Though you were pressed into Gladiation by the law, you became a veteran in it.

You had no vision, no goal, nor direction, yet, greatness was yours to manifest, how did that greatness come about, I would attribute it to destiny."

Massimiliano revealed, he grinned at Severus standing before him,

"Can slavery nor puppetry be one's destiny?" He inquired, with a Stern look forming in his face,

"It depends on your definition of destiny," Massimiliano said.

"I call it what one was born to be," Severus said.

"Mine differs, I call it what happens to people in the future." Massimiliano come closer to Severus, directing his gaze to his face,

"Am a slave because I committed a felony, not because it was what I was born to be," Severus argued.

"Why I called you here, is to give you an irresistible offer," Massimiliano revealed, his words brought a quick change to the topic of destiny,

"An offer dipped in a liquid of politics and greed," Severus said in advance.

"People are too quick to judge, this offer would benefit you massively." Massimiliano made known, his words sounded a little hopeful, Severus never showed mildness even at the hopeful words Massimiliano said.

"What's the offer, Governor.?"

"Be a Gladiator in Assisi," the governor revealed.

Severus appeared be-fuddled by the offer, with a stroke of grimness rubbed on his glazed face, he wiped his Pam on his beards, clearing up his mind to understand the offer Masimilano made.

"Where is the benefit in that.?" Severus asked.

Seeming hostile to his offer, Massimiliano added more to the offer.

"I would take the government of Venice to the high court in Rome, and tell them your time as a Gladiator has reached its end yet you haven't been set free, they would inevitably free you off Governor Bianchi's clutches" Masimilano explained.

Severus frowned, he was yet to see his benefits, which should differ from the benefits he is getting from fighting in Venice,

"It's just as good as transferring my slavery to Assisi, I see no benefit in the offer." Severus showed more hostility to Masimilano's offer.

Massimiliano added more to the offer, "you will live in a manse, you would have all the luxury on Earth, gold, silver, foreign harlots from every tribe, I won't leave in a chamber like some dirty street dog." Massimiliano revealed.

His alluring offer took away Severus's pale and hostile face and brought in a face filled with curiosity.

Massimiliano smirked, it was barely a noticeable one, he felt Severus has been entranced by his offer, he thought mostly that, the foreign harlots he had promised has a firm grip on Severus's mind and decision.

Severus fluttered his head, he wiped his palm across his face, as though a lot is been thought in his mind, a while after that, he looked up at Massimiliano.

"A slave is a slave, I'd prefer freedom to luxury," Severus replied.

Massimiliano bulged, gazing at Severus in a dullards manner, what water quenches the fire of a sexual desire, and wealth as well, Massimiliano said in his mind, all the answers to his question pointed at, discipline and control, he went on to ask himself how one gets discipline and control.

"Where do your discipline and control come from.?" Massimiliano let out what had been bugging him within.

"We gain strength over the temptations we resist," Severus replied with plain words.

It brought in a face of wonder to Massimiliano, he scowled at Severus.

"I would love a more plain explanation of what you mean." Massimiliano inquired.

"In life, we are bound to meet temptations, most at times we yield to it, without resisting at all, but when one starts to resist his temptations, in no given time, he shall gain strength over it." He made plain his words.

That explanation took away the wonder in Masimilano's face, he came to understand what Severus meant.

"Bianchi thought he made you just a slave, but look how powerful you have become," Massimiliano uttered, Marveled by Severus's discipline.

"Most leaders who keep their people like subjects, are unconsciously breeding monsters," Severus added.

Massimiliano felt dipped with Shame and guilt at what Severus had said, "where did that come from?" he asked, while dabbed his long hair.

"Am talking about all you leaders, but I wanted to ask, so the parade was a lure, to bring me over here and have possessed by Assisi and breed wealth for it, it would be made known to Bianchi, I don't mind slamming two heads together." He said and walked out of the governor's chambers, outside the chambers two guards led him back to his own chambers.

His fellow were all sleeping, with naked ladies cloaking on them, the three wide mattresses provided for them were all occupied, Severus had no place to lay, he opted for the floor, he took a pillow out a harlots head and laid on the ground with it.
