They suddenly became fierce as their resolution to capture Elijah multiplied ten times more. Their manes ignited in flames, with a sudden boost of vigour, they dashed ahead leaving behind some gust of winds and claws of their footprints.
Elijah who turned back to obverse the current situation saw this and broke down, Elijah had already started getting tired as his body began feeling the stress that had been accumulated. Even though the river was still 100 meters ahead, he kept on running because he knew he couldn't outrun the wolves without putting in some effort.
With both wolves coming at him from both directions behind him, Elijah couldn't formulate a plan, as he was currently racking his brains for a way out of his current dilemma.
Unfortunately for him, Elijah didn't have much time as the wolves had already caught up with him, slicing their claws through the air, Elijah felt his surroundings begin to heat up as he saw a small ball of flames heading his way.
The sound of the running river becoming clearer and clearer with every step he took, dogging the flame-like ball would allow the wolves to gain momentum to catch up to him, but that didn't matter as even with his head start, it showed that if he had stayed there any longer, death would have guaranteed the ownership of his life.
Leaning down to evade the flame-shaped ball by a hair length.
However, Elijah was soon overshadowed by a huge shadow that seemed to come from above. The wolf launched itself into the air as it aimed its jaws at Elijah's head while the other one lunged at his legs wanting to incapacitate his movement.
Gulping down at their intelligence which seemed to be designed for this type of situation, Elijah would have praised them if his life wasn't at the receiving end of such threat.
Stepping over to the side, as that allowed the wild wolf above him to miss its target, Elijah used that moment to propel himself in the air to avoid the one below his foot.
He barely evaded both wolves, but not without feeling a cold sensation flow through his right leg as Elijah felt a huge chunk of his flesh had been ripped out from his legs, as a stinging sensation assaulted his nerves.
Elijah felt his right leg become numb as he instantly lost a lot of blood, which could have been deemed fatal for a normal human being, but not for him since Elijah was now an ascendant, a human being far from what you could call normal.
Feeling a slab of flesh between its teeth, the two wolves seeing their attack got evaded, went back into position as they prepared for their next attack, but that gave Elijah enough time as he was soon reaching the waterfall.
Barely quickening his steps, Elijah wasted no time as he immediately jumped diving into the river. He gradually felt safe as a sense of relief swept through his body, combined with the pain of an exposed injury, made Elijah scrunch up his face, keeping his teeth's tightly together barely managing not to let out a scream.
Fighting against the feeling of falling unconscious, Elijah managed to stay awake as he was carried away by the flowing river.
Elijah was carried away by the flowing current, of course, he still had to suffer from the impact of crashing into the river and his blood been washed away by the running streams.
"Grrrrrrrrrr"
The blazing storm wolves seeing their prey had escaped turned even fiercer as their bodies began to rage with flames while staring at Elijah as though they were trying to burn his face into their memories.
Although the blazing storm wolves were only primitive demonic beasts at the 4th tier, indicating that each of them is equal to three-tier 4 lesser devils and given that Elijah who was still a tier 1 mortal ascendant stood no chance against them.
Apart from their different names, a lesser devil ascendant is the same thing as a mortal ascendant. But, it was just that Elijah felt uncomfortable calling himself a lesser devil, although such thoughts were crushed by the outcome of his new surroundings, as he would try to integrate himself in this new society in other not to arose several suspicions that he came from another world. Besides, it was basically like two different cultures saying the same thing in two different ways. He would learn to deal with it.
Demonic beasts only grew stronger by hunting preys higher than their ranks or gathering mana from their surroundings to evolve gradually from their basic stage of evolution.
The higher these demonic beasts evolve, the stronger they get, doubling, or even tripling their combat prowess, transforming them into an undeniable threat that grows stronger within each rank they emerge into.
...…...
Elijah was currently manoeuvring through the river, trying not to get hit by any rocks, but he couldn't evade them as he kept crashing into some stones, creating an impact on his body while he tried to instinctively shield his right leg trying to calm his nerves as the pain coursed through his body, although such efforts were practically impossible due to the raging currents.
Elijah braced himself as he searched through his memories, looking for a way out of his current predicament. But even that was considered reckless as he suddenly hit a rock and was soon assaulted by pain that threatening to shut down his pain receptors, while his nerves had already become numb to the pain.
Elijah still fighting the feeling of falling unconscious, opened his eyes as his eyelids kept threatening to close thereby clouding his vision, he looked straight ahead as a tree branch suddenly came into his line of sight.
Seeing a tree branch right above the flowing river which was connected to a tree about 4m tall, Elijah gently propped himself as he prepared to grab the branch, quickly pulling himself to land.
