After Craig finished his storytelling, all the werewolves in the room stood in silence, pondering over what he said. If that was true, and another of Persephone's kind had been born, they feared she could go mad as well. But more potent than fear was the hope of peace.
"Come on, Persephone is a myth. You can't be seriously thinking she is the one responsible for this," Hades rebuked.
"I don't think Persephone herself is. No, I'm saying another one of her kind," Craig declared.
Silence took over the room. What Craig was saying was the only logical explanation. Anything else they could think of had no sense at all, given no wolf could send that type of wave outside of the pack.
"Let's say Craig's right for a moment. Why isn't her birth recorded in any pack? Based on the legend, only the communion of two pure alphas from Persephone's line could have given birth to a second of her kind. Since then, no two pure-blood Alphas have mated together, so where did she come from?" Micah sneered, crossing his arms over his chest.
"More so, if two pure-blood alphas mated, and they had a child, how is she a rogue?" Hades questioned.
Another long silence fell over the room. With that, they adjourned the meeting. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't come up with a good explanation.
At Morrigan Hills villa, Freyja took a day off. She finished with all the meetings for the month. Everything was in order, running smoothly whether she was there. After today, she had to attend the Charity auction, and then she would leave for a week in The Hollow Dominion on a business trip, so she felt like for a day she could relax. So while she was lazily scrolling through a list of movies, trying to decide what to watch, Axel came down, lifted her legs and sat down on the sofa with her long legs in his lap. He gave her a foot massage, and she purred at the pleasure and relaxation before closing her eyes.
"How did you do that?" Axel said, recalling the wave of pain that sent tears pouring on his face uncontrollably.
"I don't know," Freyja shrugged.
"All that pain…" he drew in a long breath, then exhaled. "Frey…." his voice was shaky.
Before she could open her eyes to look at him, she felt his shaky breath on her cheek and his soft lips on hers. His kiss was deep but gentle. They kissed for a couple of minutes before she felt her cheeks getting wet. Then, he broke the kiss, and like a little boy, he buried his head in her chest, crying. She caressed his head and held him tightly in her arms, letting him get it all out. Axel wasn't one to cry over something. In all the years she knew him, this was probably the second time he ever cried, and she knew it wasn't just because of the wave she sent but also due to whatever happened that they avenged the previous night.
When he calmed down, he lifted his head from her chest and looked into her eyes.
"I will never let you feel something like that again," he declared
"Promise?" a soft smile formed on her lips,
"Anything for you, my queen," he chuckled
They remained staring into each other's eyes, embraced for another minute before a pillow came flying, snapping them out of their daze. They investigated the direction the pillow came from and saw Blade now standing near one armchair with another cushion, ready to throw that one too.
Axel quickly straightened himself and leaned back on the coach. Blade gave him a murderous look.
"Sorry to disturb you, lovey-dovey time, but I'm hungry" his hands tightened into fists.
Seeing that, Freyja jumped off the sofa and held out her hand. He took it, and she led him into the kitchen. Lavishly displayed on the table were various dishes awaiting them.
She prompted Blade to take a seat, and afterward, she went to check on the remaining three guys to see if they were up. Instead, she found the guys groggily making their way downstairs and into the kitchen. They sat and ate in silence, not having much energy after their night, but she still felt content knowing they were all there.
"What's on today's schedule?" Luke asked, breaking the silence.
"Hmm, nothing," she replied casually
"Nothing??" his eyes widened in surprise
"Nope, I took a day off. They can handle stuff without me for now," she murmured, wolfing her pancake.
"Weren't you supposed to meet with someone today?" Blade lifted his brow, questioning.
She thought for a second and remembered she asked Lisa to find her a PI that was supposed to meet her today.
"S**t, you're right," she affirmed
She took her phone and texted Lisa to have one driver bring the PI to her villa. The assistant immediately confirmed she would proceed as instructed and let her know the interview will be at 2 pm.
"Well, that solves that," she murmured, satisfied
Looking at the clock, Luke realized he was late for a record session. He hastily changed his clothes, given how much time he spent at the villa he had half of his wardrobe there, and took off after warning them not to burn the house down, they laughed at his warning, but it wasn't such a baseless comment.
Despite how much they loved Luke, they were slightly grateful for him leaving, as now they could speak freely about everything that went on the night before.
"Frey…" Ace began, but closed his mouth as soon as her name escaped his lips, and she lifted her head to look at him. He didn't know how to word what he wanted to ask, so maybe a test will be better. He rose from his chair and turned into his demon form. After that, he approached her, his face being so close to hers she could feel his fiery breath. The glare he had petrified her. He was trying to erase her mind and toy with the narrative. In an instant, the whites of her eyes became entirely black, resembling his eyes. She rose from her chair, keeping his gaze. The aura she gave was dark, but different from any other time they saw her. She spoke something in the demon's tongue, and Ace was now kneeling in front of her, bowing his head.
Watching the scene unravelling in front of them, they gawked, their eyes in surprise and confusion. They couldn't understand what was happening.
She came back from her slumber and saw the shock in the other's eyes. What happened stunned her, too. They were all looking at Ace, waiting to explain what that was.
"I felt her last night. Wolves didn't just sense her howl. All supernatural beings could sense it, and I had to test a theory," he explained, almost surprised at himself.
"And what might that be?" Aris scoffed at him
"Remember the myth of Persephone? I think she is your direct ancestor" Ace looked her straight in the eyes.
"That's just a myth, Ace," Blade scolded him.
"Hold on, the kiddo may be onto something," Axel spoke in a deep, thoughtful voice.
"There would be a simple way to test it," Aris said calmly.
"Cast a spell," he added, seeing how they all looked at him, puzzled.
"I'm not a witch, Aris," she rebuked in an arrogant tone.
"Yeah, but the legend says Persephone was blessed with magic as well."
