She was dead silent, looking blindly into one spot. It terrified her to even breathe in case she lost control.
"Oy, snap out of it. You can control it! Heck, no one would've been a better choice for this." Axel said firmly, his hands on her shoulder, slightly shaking her out of her head.
"You're wrong. Look what I have done. I hurt you!" She shouted, pointing at all of them.
"How does this make me the best person for this?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"You lost control once, the moment you found out important things about yourself and the moment you learned you had all those powers. But tell me, were they dormant until now? Heck, they were. You have controlled them for such a long time without even knowing," Axel said again, lifting her chin to look him in the eyes.
"Axel's right, Frey. If any of us were in your spot, we would have done the same, if not worse. Stop blaming yourself. After all, these are just flash wounds." Blade said calmly,
After some time, when the tension in the air dissipated, Josephine told them the rest of the story. How she escaped her coven, how she helped Freyja's natural mother keep the secret of her child and hide the truth about her. Everything made sense in Freyja's head, from the reason they lived secluded to why she had to work so hard to keep her identity a secret and why Josephine would always tell her she needs to maintain her composure at all times. Yet, while hiding the truth from her, she still prepared her for the moment she discovered her true self, teaching her secretly how to control her powers. Admiration overwhelmed Freyja for the woman and her cunningness.
When Josephine finished recalling everything, she felt so light. Finally, finally, she had someone to share her story with, and a relieving feeling crossed through her veins. But, although she enjoyed this feeling, she was still curious about some things.
"How did you find out, anyway? I was sure you will not find out if you keep to the hiding as human routine." Josephine asked with a tint of surprise and pride in her voice.
"I didn't really find out. It was more Ace's doing," Freyja replied and recalled everything that happened.
"Hold on. You found your mate?" Josephine asked, surprised.
"Yeah, but now it really doesn't matter." Freyja hung her head at the thought.
After a moment of silence, she decided.
"I will reject him," Freyja said, her eyes filled with determination.
"Sweetheart, don't be haste about this," Josephine said in her motherly tone.
"I'm not. There were plenty of reasons why I should reject him. This just adds to them." Freyja concluded.
"I know you may have your reasons, but think about it. You are Persephone's descendant. Even the fact you have a mate is surprising. If you reject him, what are the chances to be granted a second chance?" Josephine asked, trying to plead with her.
All of them fell silent, pondering over her words. Freyja didn't mind being alone, and she never really cared if she had a mate or not, but after spending the night with Hades, she couldn't see a life without him anymore.
Suddenly, Freyja's phone rang and pulled all of them out of their thoughts. She picked her phone up and saw it was Lisa. After the quick chat with Lisa, Freyja's face was livid, and she looked like someone has given her the worst news in her life. Then, without uttering a word, she turned on the TV in the living room on the News channel. After hearing the reports, they finally understood why.
They felt firsthand the earthquake she made, but they never imagined her power had affected all the realms. All over the News were reports of the damages done and the chaos that followed her surge of energy. Some would blame it on the gods' wreath, and they said it was only the start of the end.
Outside of the Morrigan villa, all supernatural beings knew the truth. Werewolves were calling urgent pack meetings from all packs, witches were summoning their elders for advice, demons were hoarding together, preparing for a fight, while vampires were summing up plans to get the powerful blood. In the Azure realm, dragons kept the species at bay. Given that they were the wisest and the only beings directly connected to the gods, Her arrival was no news to them. Although they didn't know everything, they knew She would soon come on the worldly planes, and curiosity got the best of them thinking how Her story would end.
Yearly, the werewolf packs held the Grand Meeting. At this meeting, all alphas would be present, and they discussed all matters involving all packs, from peace treaties between packs to alliances and territories. This year's meeting should have been held in September, but they called an emergency meeting on Saturday given the recent turn of events. By now, Alphas and their Betas from all packs arrived at the Crimson Moon castle. Almost all the Alphas in the realm were already there, while some would arrive later that night, and the ones in other realms would come the next day. Usually, they would throw parties and refrain from any business or pack-related topics until everyone arrived there. Today, though, the atmosphere was sombre. Because of the powerful surge of energy from the other day, they felt overwhelmed, and neither of them could stay still. While gathered around the table in the sumptuous meeting room, they were shifting in their seats, feeling restless, yet neither wanted to speak first.
"We all know why we are here, so let's just say it," Hades said, his voice beaming in the room.
"After the surge of pain felt this week, rumours formed about this, but now, after the force that struck the fifth realms, this is no longer a rumour or suspicion. She was born," Hades added solemnly.
They all nodded in approval.
"What are we going to do about it?" Hades asked.
"First, I think we should find her," Blake said. He is the Alpha of White Fangs pack.
"How should we find someone we have no records about?" another Alpha asked.
"If there are no records, then someone is lying now or has lied before," a Beta said.
"Are you saying one of us or one of the former Alphas lied about their Luna?" Hades asked, full of contempt. That was a grave accusation to throw out without proof.
"That is exactly what I am saying." the Beta said.
After hearing the Beta's reply initially, all of them scoffed at the accusation. Each knew they never lied, and they were confident neither did the former Alphas, but after a minute, they all started questioning each other and suspecting their predecessors. From there on, long debates have started. They argued and pleaded their cases, each sounding more convincing. Finally, after a long couple of hours, they left the meeting room with no solution. Tomorrow they will have at it again when the others arrive, but they all needed to rest for now.
The next day, Freyja woke up, still feeling gloomy about what she learned. Reluctantly, she got out of her bed and got ready for work. In truth, she wanted to do anything apart from going to work, but being a CEO did not come cheap. So, with the boys as her security detail, heeling her, they took off for The Onyx Group's headquarters. While on the road, Freyja was deep in thought, not muttering a word.
"How are you holding up?" Blade asked, breaking her train of thoughts.
"Vertical and breathing," Freyja said in a sarcastic tone.
"Oh, honey…" Blade said while pulling her into his arms, hugging her tightly.
Freyja rested her head on his chest, finding comfort in his embrace. When she found out the truth, she could not wrap her head around it, but then she accepted it. Now her head was spinning, trying to figure what she needed to do next. Her birth meant she must unite and bring peace once more; however, she could not figure out how. All she felt now was anger. Freyja was angry at the Gods, at the world and at everything surrounding her. If she was supposed to be such a magnificent creature, why did her parents have to die, and why was she unable to save them. More so, why would the Gods make her go through those hardships when she needed to be the bringer of peace. A million questions run through her head, and with every new question, her anger grew deeper. Meanwhile, she struggled to keep her composure; she knew the price would be high if she loses control of those emotions.
"I'm sure everything had a purpose," Rhea said, trying to plead with her
"Oh, yeah? And what may that be?" Freyja asked, full of rage.
"I don't know. All I know is the Gods never do something without a purpose," Rhea answered honestly.
"They'd better not." Freyja snapped before pushing Rhea to the back of her mind.
After arriving at The Onyx, the day went by with no issues. Freyja felt like she was on autopilot, and she couldn't wait for the day to end. It was a quarter before five when Luke called her.
"My love, I will pick you in 5'," Luke chirped.
"Why?" Freyja asked, confused.
"You forgot, didn't you?" Luke asked, despite him knowing the answer.
"Forgot what," she asked again, this time trying to recall what it is she should remember.
"The Charity Auction, you airhead," Luke said, giggling
"Oh, shit," Freyja said, raising from her seat
"I knew it!! Be there in 3'," Luke said, ending the call.
