Chapter 7 - New Body? 2

Kane awoke to water splashing over his head.

"The f- f***ing water? Where the hell am I!? Sh-"

Confused and disoriented, he leaped up from the bed shouting profanities. However, he was surprised to see a beautiful maid with long curly black hair and fair skin standing next to his bed. Despite her apparent beauty, she glared at Kane with a cold gaze.

"So you're milady's new servant. To dare sleep in on your first day, how vulgar. Get dressed in your uniform and come outside."

Kane was speechless, especially when he saw the bucket the woman carried out of his room.

[Tf is this idiot talking about? Servant? Vulgar?]

The situation was so bizarre that he couldn't even react until the maid had already left. One second, he was in Darius's lab, and the next moment, he was waking up as a servant.

[Also, what is this?]

At the corner of Kane's vision was a string of messages.

[Warning, a green class artifact has attempted to implant memories into the host.]

[Accept memories? yes/no]

[You have received two otherworldly fate tarots: the servant, and the scholar]

[Accept cards? yes/no]

Kane looked at the messages with a serious expression on his face. Although, both the memories and the cards might have a positive effect, he could not accept them casually. With some deliberation, Kane chose to ask the system a question.

[System, what effect will these memories have on my soul?]

Thankfully, the system answered his question.

[If the host chooses to accept the memories, they will be sorted into necessary information and skills.]

Kane nodded in understanding before asking another question.

[So what skills are in this memory?]

[I cannot answer that question unless you accept the memories]

Kane frowned but didn't comment. It was already quite good that the system sorted out unneeded memories. Back when he had assimilated Sho's soul, he remembered the massive influx of emotion and desires. If Kane hadn't already been thirty years old with a strong soul, he didn't know if he'd still have been able to separate his identity from that of Sho's.

What made things scarier was that he'd only realized this hidden danger, after 96% of Sho's memories had been sacrificed. Satisfied with the system's answer, Kane moved on to his next question.

[So System, what are those tarot cards?]

In Kane's opinion the cards were the most suspicious thing he'd gotten out of this. Not only did he not remember how he'd received them, but he had also never heard of these two particular tarot cards. However, he was destined to be disappointed.

[The system cannot tell the host what those cards are. However, these will only benefit you. The host is very lucky.]

Hearing the system's words, Kane no longer showed hesitation and accepted everything.

He grinned as a wave of information swept in.

[You have received two new titles!]

Seeing the notification, Kane quickly called up his status.

[System Status!]

[Host: Kane Enderson(Nigel) Titles: Loyalty: effect unknown, Wisdom: effect unknown]

[Race: Human(lesser titans bloodline: unawakened)]

[Level: 0]

[EXP: 0/100]

[HP: 20/20]

[SP: 200/200]

[STR: 20]

[STA: 20]

[AGI: 20]

[INT: 80]

[Skills: Incompetent Alchemy, Incompetent Language, Incompetent Housework (Comment: This system does not feed beggars.)]

Seeing his stats, Kane was shocked.

"What a cheat!"

According to his new memories, the average for every stat is ten. His stats doubled that of an average person. That would make him equal to a Superman in his previous world! However, in this world, magi aren't the only supernatural existence. There are also knights that train their inner energy to the extreme. This led to some wickedly fast and strong humans.

Kane reckoned that his current strength had already put him on par with a peak-level apprentice knight. In addition, he received two new skills and titles. Kane also felt like he knew archery, swordplay, and equestrian arts; however, they were so bad that the system didn't recognize them as skills. As Kane continued to think over his future plans, a banging sound came on the door, followed by a beautiful voice.

"What's taking so long?"

Startled, Kane scrambled to put on his servant clothes before rushing outside. Looking at the maid, he ran his hand over his wet hair and gave the first excuse he could think of.

"Sorry, I couldn't find anything to dry my hair with."

The maid ignored his obvious lie and started walking down the hallway.

"Follow me."

As Kane followed her, he began to notice his new body. He was tall, almost 6'5 (2 meters); however, he didn't seem skinny; on the contrary, he was quite well built. In addition, although he felt an initial discomfort while walking, he quickly warmed up to his new body. While Kane was practicing all the different ways to walk, the beautiful maid turned around, causing him to freeze.

Looking at him coldly, the maid passed Kane a large handkerchief.

"We have arrived at Milady's room. Use this to dry your hair."

At her words, Kane took the handkerchief, buried deep in thought. He hadn't forgotten the mission. The system said that after he received the body, he had to escape the influence of the magus.

[Darius is a magus, if he dares place me as a guard for his daughter, he most likely wouldn't place me with her without any fail safes. Although the memory wipe was considered a fail-safe, a magus never only has one plan.]

Kane frowned as he continued to wipe off his hair.

[System, can you detect any fail-safes the magus has put in my body?]

The system responded easily.

[Of course, there are two in the brain and one in your heart.]

[S***! Why didn't you tell me earlier!?]

[The host never asked.]

What the hell? Although the system wasn't wrong, such an answer left a bad taste in his mouth.

[Well... can you break them?]

The system hesitated.

[Yes and no. All three formations within your body are connected. If I were to destroy any one of them, then the other two will kill you.]

Kane frowned even deeper.

[Why don't you destroy them all at once?]

[That is the problem, host. For the system to do that, you must first become a rank 3 acolyte. In addition, the moment you destroy the formations, the magus will be alerted.]

Kane finished wiping his hair. Handing the wet handkerchief to the maid, he smoothed down his hair and gave a forced smile. Seeing that he was now ready, the maid opened the door, and they walked into the room.

[So much for the easy life, huh.]
