[System, what is the dimensional library?]
[This system's purpose is to help the host create the ultimate dimension-conquering city. Every city requires a library. For the sake of creating a city with the greatest facilities in the multiverse, the host must collect all sorts of rare books and tomes.]
Kane nodded profoundly while looking at the three sealed books in front of him. This system was too strong! Ceremoniously, Kane put his hand out toward the book and shouted in his heart.
[System, collect these books for me!]
[Collection Failed! To collect a meditation technique, the host must first come in physical contact with the tome.]
Kane's face fell. All of that posturing led to such a lame outcome. However, he quickly regained composure. All of these failures were the result of not knowing enough. Otherwise, a genius like him wouldn't have suffered such humiliation.
Looking at the three books in the center, he realized that it was impossible to get all three without touching them. Decisively he turned around. He could come back to deal with them later. But, for now, he would absorb the less valuable books.
Seeing the sheer amount of books, his previous enthusiasm returned. Excitedly, he left the three sealed books and started running between the bookshelves, touching all the books he could lay his hands on.
[Ding! You have obtained the Low-grade Meditation technique: Water Spirit's Blessing]
[Ding! You have obtained the Low-grade Meditation technique: Gaia's Heart]
[Ding! You have obtained the Low-grade Meditation technique: Life Spring]
[Ding! You have obtained the Low-grade Meditation technique: Eagle's Airflow]
...
The sound of the system's notifications sounded like music to his ears. However, he suddenly heard a voice other than the system's inside his head.
[Boy, what are you doing?]
Kane froze. The voice sounded like the old magus from outside. Kane suddenly had a strong urge to facepalm. Of course, they wouldn't let him inside of the treasury without a way to watch him! He had just made a huge fool of himself!
Coughing awkwardly, he answered.
"Sorry, I got a little carried away. I've never seen so many books in one place before."
Outside, the old man had a strange expression on his face, but he didn't continue to bother Kane. Sighing, Kane continued looking through the books as if he was browsing. Seeing this, the old man was even more confused.
[Doesn't he see the three books behind him? Why does he even bother looking through those trash techniques.]
The old man kept observing Kane for half an hour longer before he couldn't help but interrupt.
[Boy. Can't you see the three special books behind you? Compared to those three books, the ones you're holding can be called nothing but trash! I recommend you no longer waste time and choose the Titans Roar.]
Hearing the old man's words, Kane looked up and frowned. This old man was really annoying. Because he had stopped him earlier, Kane's pace had slowed considerably; he still had over 100 books to go.
"I know that these books cant be compared to the others, but knowledge is power. Although I am only allowed to read the introduction, it still gives me an idea of the properties of the technique."
The old man's gaze at Kane softened. How diligent! Although Kane's reasoning was a little ignorant, the magus was aware that he had just been born that day. Suddenly, the old magus didn't feel it was too bad to humor this fledgling who had yet to become a magus.
[Alright, but pick up the pace. Even if you finish all the books, I still want you to choose Titans Roar. Understood?]
Kane nodded vigorously as if he was a diligent student while grinning in his heart.
[Great! I can't believe he bought it!]
he thought while putting down the book in his hands.
[Let's finish this quickly!]
While Kane sorted through all the books in the library, the old magus turned to Violet.
"This servant of yours is quite strange, isn't he?"
Violet nodded.
"Your right about that. He only received his memories recently, but his speed of getting used to them was astounding. Not only that but his talent..."
The old man perked up.
"Oh, was his talent quite good?"
Violet gave a complex look.
"It's a five-star talent."
The old magus smiled with mild surprise.
"Congratulations, Miss Violet, a talent like that only appears once every 5,000 years. Although he cannot possibly compare to you: the long sought-after, six-star talent."
She smiled at his words, but from her eyes, she could see that she was still bothered.
"It's just that. For a moment, while he was being tested, I saw his sixth ring light up."
The old man shot up from his chair in astonishment.
"A half-step six star! This is huge! We must inform Darius immediately!"
Violet gestured for the old man to calm down.
"Don't worry. I already sent the message to my father; we will plan accordingly. With this development, I don't believe my father will continue the servant training farce any longer."
The old magus nodded in agreement.
"Indeed, that plan is no longer suitable for the current situation."
Both people fell silent. With the conversation at its end, the old magus looked into the library, only to see Kane standing in front of the [Titan's Roar], seemingly in a daze.
Kane was looking at his gains from the past hour. The system library now held 512 low-grade meditation techniques and 17 superior low-grade techniques. Altogether, Kane obtained 529 techniques! The feeling of being rich was really too addicting!
Although Kane wasn't sure how powerful Darius's magus family was, he knew that it must be challenging to gather all these books. Even though he couldn't use them himself, it was always good to have options. Now, the only thing left was to claim one of the three techniques.
The choice was obvious.
"Sir, I would like to choose the [Titan's Roar]."
The old mage sighed in relief. If Kane had kept standing in front of those books any longer, he would have died from boredom. It was just as he thought: sleeping was always better.
"Alright, I'll deactivate the formation."
Kane could hardly hold back his excitement as the milky white light surrounding the book disappeared. Only when the light had completely vanished did Kane dare to place his hands on the cover. As expected, the notification rang in his mind.
[Ding! You have obtained the Incomplete Upper-tier Meditation technique: Titan's Roar]
[The system has determined that the meditation technique is damaged and may cause the user serious injury if cultivated.]
[Side effects: 1) Growth is limited to that of a tier 4 magus.
2) Changing techniques will result in the death of the host.
3) Hidden flaws in the technique will result in internal damage upon ascendence to tier 3 magus.
...]
The list went on and on.
[All right, I get it! How do I fix it?]
The system paused as if its feelings were hurt. Kane waited for a reply, but none came.
[Did I hurt the system's feelings?]
Right when he was about to ask if it was still there, the system responded.
[Will the host sacrifice 500 low-tier tomes to repair the Titan's Roar meditation technique? yes/no]
Kane stared at the number in a daze. It truly seemed that things gained for free were never easy to hold on to. However, this transaction couldn't be considered a loss. Without hesitation, Kane sacrificed the useless books to repair Titans Roar.
[Upper-tier Meditation Technique: Titan's Roar]
[A bloodline-type meditation technique suitable only for warlocks of the Titan bloodline. This technique can be used from acolyte level 0 -> Magus Level 5]
[This meditation technique can be fused with one other technique. The Titan's Roar will act as a passive to the fused technique and help the user increase the grade of their bloodline.]
