Chapter 11 - Ground Floor Chaos

(A/N: WARNING there are vivid descriptions of blood and gore within this chapter that might be disturbing to some readers ;) )

Flinching the doctor reached for the phone to tell security to increase the guards on the ground floor especially in the area located around the isolation cube.

"I'm just wanting to be put in extra precautions as the subject is unstable and we still don't know the extent of her abilities yet" he spoke down the line calmly while forgetting the screen for a moment.

'I'm tired, angry, sad and tired all at the same time like a hell loop, but I have nowhere to put these feelings anymore. It's sickening, but even more so tiring, I just want to go to sleep and never wake up. I want to be with my parents again. ' ebony sobbed to herself as she hid in the depths of her mind trying to recall the memories of her mother and father only to feel even more angry and depressed at the loss of them.

Meanwhile her wolf was nearing the surface, cracking and bending the bone beneath her skin to that of a wolf as a mass of white shimmering fur sprouted ever her whole body. Her peircing black eyes glimmered in the light as they reflected the images of what she envisioned her captors to look like after she had finished with them.

(A/N: This part up until the end of the chapter is written from Charlie's experience of the event;) )

A howl erupted over the whole facility causing panik and fear amongst all the residents resulting in them to running to the nearest exit. After hearing the howl Charlie ran in the direction of the isolation cube where he knew Ebony would be, but before he could get through the doors to the ground floor his father grabbed him furiously. In outrage at Charlie's behaviour he dragged him forward with the rest of the people evacuating.

"Noo dad let me go! I need to see her, I need to go. Let. Me. Goo!" he yelled tugging out of his father's large hand. His father turned slapping Charlie viciously while dragging him roughly through the masses of people. Knowing that this was his last chance to help Ebony he pulled using the extent of supernatural strength, briskly escaping his father's tight grip.

Quickly he span around running back the way he came and successfully passed through the doors to the ground floor. Catching his breath he locked the doors to prevent his father catching up to him when a loud siren started ringing within the building and all the lights dulled to a red hue.

'The lockdown signal? I though everyone was evacuating so why would ring it? Unless they want everyone to remain inside and stay calm after hearing a wolf howling'

Looking up he realised that the ground floor corridor was empty and all the usual guards couldn't be heard. Heightening his hearing he listened to see if any were nearby but all he could hear was something dripping onto the floor. Curious he headed forward quietly incase someone caught him and dragged him back out without him even getting a glimpse of Ebony.

Reaching a corner near where the sound was dripping from he turned to see someone lying down, sprawled next to red lit wall. Cautiously he headed forward to see what was wrong with him although it appeared that the person was already unconscious.

"emm excuse me," Charlie softly spoke whilst crouching down and looking at their face. He poked the persons cheek slightly to see if they would wake up, "heelllooo, you OK?"

Jolting back Charlie froze enhaling the sweet scent of blood, it had been so long since he had last fed on a human and he was starving after living of wild animals for a while. Breaking out of his frenzy, Charlie opened the persons mouth where the sickly sweet scent was coming from. Blood oozed out dripping all over Charlie's hand and spreading onto the white floor that was lit up red by the lights and was now glistening with a fresh coating of deliciously warm blood.

Snapping out of his trance Charlie stood up reminding himself of his initial goal in coming to the ground floor.

"I can come back when I find ebony. It's OK" he chanted trying to lessen the blood lust.

Standing up he turned to find a seven foot tall wolf towering over him, it carried a limp body in its blood stained jaw as a continuous shower of blood spilled onto the floor. Stepping back Charlie swallowed, knowing that if it wanted this wolf could swallow him whole.

"E-ebony. That's you r-right," he trembled, holding up his hands to show he wasn't a threat to her,

"I won't hurt you I'm so-sorry for what I did to you. I-I should've done something to help, but... I didn't know you and how kind you were! At that moment I didn't want to die! I'm so so sorry I'm s-sorry" weeping he realised how weak and vulnerable he was.

Despite him wanting to protect her, he couldn't. Because he couldn't even protect himself. He was useless... just like everyone told him.

Growling, the wolf dropped the lifeless body on the floor while licking it's lips to wash away the blood. Charlie gazed up at the wolfs eyes thinking they looked the same as ebony's, like the night sky, only the wolf had splatters of blood red on the pitch black orbs which made her glare even more frightening.

Stepping backwards, to avoid the wolfs sight Charlie looked down at the blood stained floor. Growling louder than before, Ebony's wolf stepped forward to mimick his movements whilst lowering her head to Charlie's height. Sniffing, she licked a splatter of blood of his cheek which he had failed to notice before in the midst of his panic.

"ea-easy I won't h-hurt you so please don't hurt me" Charlie stuttered as his eyes flickered over the wolfs facial features that gazed down onto his. Enhaling a deep breath he lifted his hand to her face and gently stroked her fur. It was soft in contrast to her scary appearance and he spent what felt like forever sinking his hands into her snow white fur.

Breaking the silence the wolf began purring under his hand. 'huh does she like this? ' Charlie smiled as a blush formed on his face in embarrassment at his strange excitement over the fact he had managed to appease her wolf.

"why do I feel so safe when I'm near you and have all these unexplainable emotions ... Its like I've known you for a long time. Please tell me... I don't have anyone left to ask"

Gazing into his sorrowful eyes the wolf chirped while rubbing her cheek against his. Charlie wondered if she was trying to comfort him and smiled softly while patting the fur on the side of her neck.
